Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TarkhisisHP: 18 of 18 | AC: 17 | Perception: 15 | Insight: 17 | Inspiration: 1 Conditions: None. Caelin sought out Henry after speaking with the villagers, getting the larger man's attention, before pulling him to the side for a private conversation. He sighed before he began, looking back to market, in Eliana's direction, before returning his attention to the braod shouldered warrior in front of him. "Alright Henry, here's the deal, when we first met, I treated you like an idiot, and didn't like you," he shrugged, "partially because you want to be a Knight, and they're idiots and I don't like them. But you've done nothing to me, so," he paused, obviously uncomfortable, "yeah, I wasn't, exactly, fair to you." He turned, looked towards the towers of the chapel, barely visable past the market, "so if we're going to track these guys, and get close without being spotted, you follow my lead." Thoughts of Cyanwrath left him ashamed, frustrated, and angry, "but if a big blue scaled bastard with a fullblade comes for us, he's all fecking yours mate."He coughed, trying to gauge the warrior's disposition, "And our guys aren't more than a days march from Greenest, no supplies, no rations, and most of those bastards couldn't shoot a deer at 30 paces, so they sure as hell didn't bring down game while making their way here."
When Caelin asks to speak with him, Henry frowns and warily follows the man; the squire listens, arms crossed and a glimpse of anger in his expression when the white-haired man calls the Knights 'idiots'. In the end, Henry just sighs and shrugs "Here's the deal, Caelin; if the Knights have mistreated you or wronged you in any way, when we return from this mission I will help you get the justice you deserve. I certainly do want to be a Knight, but I'm not blind - I mean, do you know that not a long time ago people like me were not accepted in their ranks? The Knights are not perfect - but they try, and to be completely honest that as much as I can ask from anyone." he points Caelin with his head "You are trying to apologize for your boorish behaviour - and frankly, that's one of the worst apologies I ever heard. Yet you tried, and I appreciate the sentiment. And I would also appreciate if you would refrain from calling the Knights 'idiots' - you're certainly free to dislike them, but I do not take lightly when someone insults my friends." Henry smiles, then try to lightly punch Caelin's shoulder in a friendly manner "You are however quite free to call me 'idiot', since I'm certainly one and I'm an idiot exactly because I want to be a Knight - I mean, follow the Measure, be good and honourable, do not punch nincompoops that yell at you even if you could crush their windpipe with two fingers..." chuckles, clearly joking "...well, it's a lot of work. And you don't get rich and they tell you it would be a waste of time to plan for your twilight years. With the benefit of hindsight, not a smart decision on my part." he sighs again, shaking his head "Well, on a more serious note. Here's the deal: I will listen to your advice, but in the end I will make my own decision. Like coming here in the marketplace; and I do expect you to do the same - listen to what I have to say and then make up your mind. Right now, I do agree that not getting spotted is the best course of action."
The squire stares at the ground when Caelin shares those informations, the nods "Unless they have supplies nearby, I agree that their encampment should be close to Greenest. If I was them, I would have a rearguard ready to ambush any pursuer, so what I believe we should do is having a vanguard, one or two of us that would take point capable of following tracks and move unnoticed. The rest of the group should follow, close enough to come to the rescue of the vanguard, if needed. If we find trouble along the road, I believe it should our priority to capture at least one of them alive so we may have more informations. When we find their hideout, we scout and then decide what to do." he tilts his head towards Eliana and Zakkoth "I talked to them and they agree, but I would prefer if we are all on the same page."

Healer's kits are hard to come by, as most were used up in the attack. But Zakkoth does manage to find one still intact (10 uses) on sale for 5 steel pieces. Ale, on the other hand, is a bit more easy to come by. A few people had their own stocks hidden in their basements, in expectation of raids. He can get a waterskin filled with ale for 4 silver.

Eliana purses her lips together as she looks over the shirts before she buys two long sleeved cotton shirts that resemble her own shirt. Once done, she joins Henry and Caelin quietly as she figures the two of them are speaking about important things.

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TarkhisisHP: 18 of 18 | AC: 17 | Perception: 15 | Insight: 17 | Inspiration: 1 Conditions: None. Caelin nodded, he didn't feel that the larger man would truly attempt to crush his throat. A soft smile, Eliana would be proud, he hadn't retorted, or escalated the threat. In truth he had treated the man unfairly on first measure, and, perhaps, paradoxically, the man's words did little to allay Caelin's concerns about the Order, and far more to allay his concerns about the man. "The Children operate in small cells so the compromise of one, by capture, interrogation, or torture, doesn't reveal the existence or location of allied cells. Now, the raid was certainly carried out by Mondath, and overseer, Cyanwrath, but not all of the raiders, were cultists. Nor would they be wearing any regalia that would identify them as such, they will be armed and armored," he took in Henry's well polished and maintained mail hauberk, "perhaps not so well armed as yourself. With some luck, we may even be able to pass ourselves off as returning raiders, to slip past hunting parties or scout patrols. Mayhap Cyanwrath believes me dead after I met his challenge, and that, may turn out to be an advantage."As Eliana joined them, he nodded, silently mouthing a word of thanks to the mysterious woman before turning back to Henry, "I'll gather the others before Zakkoth takes pleasure with the farmer's wife," he flipped a pot about in his hand, "and there is a young woman who seems to have left her cooking kit, in such a rush to follow you to the Lord's chamber. Chantilly, perhaps? Plus the sell sword I hired, Benyt."Caelin wandered off through camp, looking for the fire-haired young woman, and the Khuri-khan soldier.

"Hm. Makes sense that they would try to mantain secrecy. Still if the opportunity presens itself I would appreciate if we could capture - any kind of information is better that no information." the squire then clears his throat and say with an apologetic smile on his face "And about deceiving the raiders - I do not lie, Caelin. If they ask me who I am, I will tell them the truth. However..." Henry raises his gaze to the sky, mumbling and bobbing his head "...however, if we deem that infiltration should grant the party the best chance to rescue the kidnapped citizens of Greenest, I'm willing to be taken in the camp as a prisoner. I won't lie about who I am, but I'm under no obligation to tell them about the rest of the party or reveal our plans."
"Before we go. I'm aware I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, yet it's apparent to me that you know a great deal about these attackers; and I sense you're in pain, grief-stricken to the point you lash out." a small moment of silence, then nods "I hope one day you will feel safe to share the sorrow you carry within your soul." then gently pats Caelin's shoulder "Well, that's all. Off you go. Let's reconvene here and then proceed south-east."

Benyt - Female Human Fighter 2
She was certainly glad she was well rested – if very stiff – from the last leg of her journey.
Her arrival in Greenest was confusing enough, but to be instantly thrust into a prolonged combat action with a group of strangers to save the place from certain destruction was a shock. She’d worked with other adventurers and mercenaries before – answer a call, go forth and cause violence – but never under such intense circumstances. It was one thing to chase off bandits or bash some goblin skulls, but to engage a group large and organized enough to sack a village (with a dragon!) was a whole new experience.
At least these people seemed to be motivated for good reasons, not just for profit.
She looks around the hectic and ruined marketplace, feeling the subtle desire to buy something just because she can. Spending when one doesn’t have to is a common sign of wealth and status in Khur, or a useful means of crafting the illusion of wealth. She’d taken that to heart when she first escaped and made her way into the world; using her skills and what she could swindle to outfit herself with the finest armor possible, finding a renowned armorer in Delphon who crafted her a lamellar cuirass to her specifications. Likewise she adorned herself with fine jewelry, specifically a large set of silver hairbands. Maintaining her look usually left her without a copper between jobs, but the appearance of success can be just as important as real success.
Today, with a hunt in the offing, it just seems extraneous.
As Caelin and Henry approach, she can’t help but overhear parts of the discussion. She actually laughs at Solamnic’s suggestion. “That’s so crazy it might actually work, but I wouldn’t count on it. What are these people’s motives? Who did they take and why? If you hand yourself over and they know you’re a threat, the best move would be to kill you right then. After all, if you’re not a titled knight or from a wealthy family, you aren’t even worth ransoming. Keeping you alive would be more trouble than you’re worth.”

After making his purchases, Zakkoth rejoins the others, who make their way to the southeast edge of town. The raiders' path across the rolling grasslands is easy to spot, even for someone not skilled in the art of tracking. A wide swath of grass is trampled down from where the humans, draconians, kobolds and drakes marched to and later, away from Greenest. On the bright side, the weather today is clear, so they won't be hampered by rain or dark clouds.

Henry listens to Benyt's words, bobs his head a little and says with affected voice "And here I thought I could finally be worthy of being a prisoner to someone. Thanks a lot for ruining my lifelong dream, Benyt." and shrugs to Eliana's "Hey, I told you earlier that I would do something outrageously dumb, sooner or later. But I agree, Benyt's right."
When the party is finally ready to depart Greenest, Henry nods to the Bozak "Good old Zakkoth is right, we should be wary of ambushes. Caelin and I were speaking earlier on how to proceed from now on; I do believe we should have a vanguard, one or two of us that should follow the raiders' tracks and spot any potential ambushes on the road, possibly without being spotted in return. The rest of the group should follow not to closely, but still close enough to intervene if the vanguard is in trouble." the squire looks to the other, waiting for their approval.

"I could easily follow their trail, and leave road sign every hundred feet or so, in the event their path diverges, or shifts in direction." He paused, "To remain unseen, I will need to move carefully, especially at midday, however, our quarry are laden with captives and pilfered loot, so they will not be moving at haste, nor do they wish to be seen as they continue to their ultimate destination."As he spoke, he moved to the front of his companions while they headed out of town, passing by the tree whicH he had first met Chantilly and their newer companions. "If any can move quickly, and quietly, their company may be useful in the event we come across their rearguard."

"Caelin should scout ahead, as he has suggested," Eliana says. "And anyone else that can do that, should probably help out. Otherwise, Henry, would you like to take the lead, and I'll rely on your protection?" she says with a teasing smile to the squire.
