Ooc: I think you mean Eliana.
IC: "Uh, thank you," Eliana says to Zakkoth. "We should probably make our way there" she says. "If anyone needs to buy some supplies, now would be a good time to do it before we leave," she says.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes "I have seen a pigeon fly at camp's direction. The omen have shown that my path is with you." Chantilly clapped excitedly: " Oh, we'll all be together again then!" She then listens as the others talk about who should be leader, she didn't really have an option on that even though she agrees they needed one. Last time they definitely lost too much time arguing! " I'm okay with either Lady Eliana or Benyt leading us.", even though she didn't had a chance to know Benyt she seemed serious enough - Maybe too much? - to be trusted to know what to do. "Uh, thank you," Eliana says to Zakkoth. "We should probably make our way there" she says. "If anyone needs to buy some supplies, now would be a good time to do it before we leave," she says. " Yes, I know exactly what I need!" - she chirped after Eliana's words. Since the events of last night she couldn't stop thinking that she finally could use magic. She now needed all the stuff a proper wizard should own.

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TakhisisARMOR CLASS: 14 | HIT POINTS: 24 | CURRENT: 24 | HIT DIE: 3d8 | CURRENT: 3d8 PASSIVE PERCEPTION: 15 | PASSIVE INSIGHT: 17 | INSPIRATION: 1 Caelin nodded, as others spoke of whose voice should be heard when differing opinions or tactics were discussed. Benyt seemed a dependale, responsible, however, Caelin couldn't shake the feeling that the woman had hidden motives, far be it for him to begrudge someone their secrets, but it did make it more difficult to trust them. He shrugged, "Eliana's been with us from the start, yeah? Knows what each of us can do, an' if one voice has gotta be raised higher than tha' rest, it should be hers." His opinion voiced, he walked out of the breakfast hall, giving the sorceress a nod of respect, but unable to bring himself to meet her eyes. As he exited the keep, he noted the merchant train that was slowly moving towards Greenest's square, where some villagers were clearing the remnants of the festival. Curious he wandered and checked their wares, finding a leather worker, an apprentice blacksmith, and a herbalist, he set down to do some trading, spending Leonin's coin. Satisfied with his purchases, he noted Chantilly doing the same, he grinned at the young woman, confident that his purchase of herbs, poultices, and such had gone unnoticed by her curious eyes, and continued to the keep, a bulky swadle of equipment wrapped in a blanket. Once returned he looked for Henry, and upo spying the squire, he approached, cautiously, ensuring that the man could see him. He started slowly, "Listen, Henry, I, uhh, I know we disagree on things, but you trusted me at camp, and I got us captured." He looked at the ground, still ashamed at the lack of skill, or subtlety he had displayed, "I underestimated our foe, thought myself too smart, to fast to be caught." A self depreciating chuckle, "Wrong on both counts, eh? Anyways, I know you feel like you failed folks too, and I still think it's a dream we'll save any of 'em. But if yer gonna prove me wrong, then ye'll need a blade 'n shield to do so, ya? 'n someone to watch yer back?"

Henry - HP: 28\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
Henry listens to the others voicing their opinions about accepting payment, frowns a bit and lowers his gaze; after a couple of moments he raises his head and nods slightly "I do need a weapon, that's for sure. Still, feels wrong in being rewarded - I'm still on a mission. If you don't mind, Eliana, would you be so kind to keep my part? Let me think about it, just until we leave Greenest." he then shrugs a bit when people starts to argue on who should lead "All of you would be good leaders. My vote goes to Eliana, though. Caelin and I would most probably butt heads again - I'm stubborn like a mule and he's just jealous of my good looks." the squire chuckles and winks at Caelin "Eliana managed to crack our thick skulls and put some sense into them. I will now take my leave." that said, he waves his hand and moves away from the group.
Caelin's words seems to awake a Henry lost deep in his thoughts, the squire doesn't answer immediately; when he does, there's not an ounce of his usual chipper mood in his voice "I'm sorry. Don't let your pain push people away from you." he sighs, stands up and nods a bit "What happened at the camp - not your fault, Caelin. Sir Frume teached me you can't always win, even if your cause is right. He also teached me that the only victory that matters is the last one. Our enemies may have defeated us, but we're still alive. We're still fighting. They underestimated us, too." a comforting pat on Caelin's shoulder, then the smile returns to Henry's face "Sure, I'll need a sword. And sure, I'll need someone to watch my back - even though I thought you would've liked to watch someone else's back..."

Leosin hands the coin to each of them, and then Henry turns around and hands his over to Eliana instead. The party then heads for the town square, save for Caelin who heads for the armory really quick--not to pick something up, but to drop off his old armor. He then rejoins them at the square. A large caravan has arrived that morning, stuffed to the brim with trade goods. The party does some quick shopping with their newfound coin, and Caelin buys Henry a new sword and shield, as well. Likewise, Chantilly finds what she is looking for to try an old ritual she read about in her books.

Eliana nods to Henry as she keeps his coin safe and sound. She then waits for everyone to do their share of shopping before departing. During most of the wait, she thinks about the trust and faith that the group is putting in her. ~Who would of thought, just a few days ago, that I would be leading a group of people into danger?~ she asks herself. Normally, she would find it kind of amusing, as she knows herself better than anyone, but she wasn't amused now. She was feeling some pressure, pressure to keep her group safe, and pressure to save people.
Despite jer thoughts, once everyone is done, she looks to Caelin. "So it is probably a good idea for you to scout ahead. I'm not expecting trouble, but you never know."

If only that sentiment were true, certainly a noble sentiment, but the battles fought before that last victory, could change a man, so, in that last victory, he achieves a change so great, he is no longer fit for a world he fought to create. Having in his quest to slay the monsters, become a monster himself. He sighed heavily, and he could not deny the comfort of the man's hand on his shoulder. He responded to the man's sentiment about his Master's teachings, ignorant to the fact it could be applied equally to his jibe. "Maybe so, Henry, maybe so."Later, as they prepared to leave, having re-armed and resupplied, Caelin spread out the weight of the rope and climbing kit among his companions, Henry & Zakkoth, then nodded at Eliana as she asked him to scout ahead of the main party. "I'll start 100 yards off, if there's trouble I'll circle around back and warn you." He thought of their initial journey outward, "Their patrols may be tighter, but knowing that Leosin, Henry and I escaped, they will likely have either moved on, or doubled down on their defenses. If I see patrols do I lead us around them, or lay an ambush to take 'em out?"

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes Chantilly opened her book in front of the merchant: " I need this. And this. Also, this!" - she says while pointing at the various components of the ritual she intended to perform. The old book was worn out by the amount of times it was leafed through, small doodles of little animals embellished the page the young half-kender was pointing at. After being done with her purchases, she waves at Caelin before going back to the keep. There were things she needed to do before leaving. She went to her room, collected her recently found brazier, and then looked for an isolated spot where no one could interrupt her. Eventually, she finds a window that gives access to a piece of a roof that seemed stable enough to hold her weight. After testing the tiles, she nods with a satisfied smile on her face: " This will do!" The girl opens up her brazier, while chanting the words written on her book. She ignites the charcoal and the herbs using her tinderbox, as the aroma of incense filled the air. After what seemed an eternity, amid the ashes something seemed to move. Chantilly looks with interest at what was happening, as her voice quavers while pronouncing the last words of her spell. The moment she is done, a tuneful chirp comes out of the brazier, immediately followed by a tiny colorful bird flapping his wings to get rid of the ashes. The mix of surprise and excitment for having successfully completed her ritual almost makes Chantilly fall off the roof, but she manages to regain balance in time.

"My initial response to that would be to lead us around," Eliana says. "But depending on what information you gather on the patrols before you warn us of them, that might change."

The party sets out on the exact same direction that they took last time. Indeed, it would almost feel like a strange sense of deja vu, were it not for the difference in weather. Last time the party set out, it was clear and sunny. Today, it is overcast. The grey clouds seem to dominate the entire sky. And it isn't long after they depart from Greenest that it starts to lightly rain.
Caelin scouts ahead of the group, keeping a good three hundred feet ahead of them. After a short time, he comes across a somewhat familiar scene--the campsite of the stragglers. The kobold bodies are exactly where the party left them--reeking to high heaven and being pecked at by crows. The human bodies, however, are gone. There is a row of three crude graves, however, each marked with a single plank of wood and a holy icon of Takhisis hanging from each.
The human and kobold they left tied up to a tree are missing. There is no sign of either of them.
Meanwhile, back with the rest of the party, it's pretty hard not to notice that a colorful, small bird now sits on Chantilly's shoulder. Particularly as it's fairly noisy, chirping in protest at the rain.

"Where did you get the bird?" Eliana asks curiously. "And, uh, is there a way to make it a little less noisy?" She asks.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes Chantilly was looking at the ground when she heard Eliana's question. The half-kender turned toward her with a smug smile on her face: " Oh, he is Gale. He is my familiar." - she put particular emphasis on the last word. " I did it, Lady Eliana! I don't know if it was our little talk last night that motivated me, but... Something happened and I can now use magic!" - she then makes a bit of space under her hood. - " Gale, came here, you'll be sheltered from the rain." She gives another look at the terrain. - " I don't know if it was a good idea to let Caelin go forward alone, with this rain tracking is arduous. And sounds and scents are harder to discern. Hunters and scouts can hide more easily."

Henry - HP: 28\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
"Well, this time we don't really have to track anyone. We know where to go. And sure, our enemies will be harder to see or hear - but so'll be Caelin. And it's harder to see or hear a single individual than a couple, or a group." Henry shrugs, somewhat bothered by the inclement weather. The news that now Chantilly is capable of casting spells make the squire raise an eyebrow but then nods approvingly "Have to say, never heard of a kender magician. Well, more magick is always welcome. Steel is nice to have at your side, but considering what we might find I feel a bit more secure knowing that I have another sorcerer with me."

Benyt for one was happy enough with mild rain - it further muted the gentle metallic grinding of her mail. She walked along, a dozen or so feet from her nearest companion, and kept her eyes and ears sharp. Knowing nothing of magic, she silently wondered if the bird did anything other than make noise. Her eyes flashed in alarm at Henry's last statement, but she turned back to their surroundings before making a scene. "Secure" was the last thing she thought of a Kender with magic.
She shook her head and thought of an old Khurish poem, mentally stepping through movements as its cadence matched one of the more advanced sword techniques. It was a good distraction and the next best thing to actual practice, which their grueling schedule had not permitted in several days. She can't afford to get lazy, and she found herself half-hoping for a real fight. Fool, she thought to herself. Trouble will visit sooner or later, don't ring the bell and bring it running.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes Chantilly pouts at Henry: " I guess what you say makes sense... But I still think it would have been better if I went with him to help." - she says, before crossing her arms, more bored than actually worried. Hearing the squire talking about magic reminded her about something she wanted to ask him: " Well, you have both right? Steel... and magic too? How was it the first time you used it?" While waiting for an answer her eyes were drawn by Benyt, who was marching at her own perfect rhytm. Chantilly recalls how strong, and scary, she looked back at the camp, her clean-cut hit which took that draconian life before he could even realize what was happening. But here, under the rain, she seemed more at ease despite being clearly alert to her surroundings, showing an almost eerie beauty.
