Are there metal weapons and armor at this point in the setting? And are they considered taboo by any of the cultures/nations?

For the most part, metal is seen as taboo. Generally speaking, metal is seen as a tool of the Ancient Ones. Their society was filled with it. The ruins of their cities include giant metal structures that tower in the sky higher than any tree. So most Elonnori conflate metal with the Ancient Ones. But there's also the issue of acquiring metal. Many Elonnori see mining as damaging to the planet. But again, it varies from culture to culture.
The Inlanders eschew metal of any kind, seeing it as evil. Even if the metal did not come from the ruins, they consider it to be essentially poison and will refuse to even touch it, believing it will make them ill. They consequently stick to weapons made from wood, bone or stone and armor made from cloth, leather or hide. Consequently, they have the worst equipment of the four tribes, but they make up for it with their numbers and ferocity. They also have the ability to grow magical flowers with druidism. These flowers are nigh indestructible, so they weave their petals into their armor, which makes it nearly as effective as metal armor would be.
Cascadians, likewise, have the ability to grow magical coral with druidism. They can shape this special coral into weapons and armor, which they use as a substitute for metal. That said, while they stay away from metal in general, they don't fear it like the Inlanders, and if that was all that was available, they'd rather use metal to defend themselves than just die.
Kanatans have the ability to forge weapons and armor from never-melting ice. Like the Cascadians, they don't fear metal and would use it if they had no choice, but prefer not to.
The Siyouans, on the other hand, actually do have some metal and have even learned a few forging techniques from their southern neighbors. They believe that mining is fine, so long as it's not too intrusive. They'd be against, say, blowing stuff up. But if you walk into a natural tunnel and find a vein of ore right there in plain sight, clearly the planet is providing, so why not take a little? So they have metal, but not a lot. Mostly they prefer weapons and armor that are made from a magical crystal they grow with druidism, that they can shape and forge into the shape of blades and such.

I went ahead and made a sub-forum for the new setting, and intend to slowly start filling it with information. If everyone could let me know if they can see it or not, that'd be helpful. I want to make sure I didn't screw up the permissions for it.

If Gravity can see it, you should be able to, as well. I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't be able to.

It's called Lost Souls Cascadia, and it's just below Champions of Krynn.

I decided that 'Lost Souls' would be my 2E homebrew setting name exclusively, so this new setting needed a new name. After a lot of though, I eventually settled on 'Chronicles of Overmorrow.' For those who don't know, 'overmorrow' is an archaic term that means 'day after tomorrow.' I think it sounds cool, and we should bring that word back into our collective lexicon. But anyway, it references the fact that the setting is about building a future from the ruins of the past.

Overmorrow does sound cool. So those worlds are completly indepdent of each other?

Yes, 'Lost Souls' and 'Chronicles of Overmorrow' will be considered independent from each other.

Okay, I got some basic info on the nations up. I've been working on that post since April, no kidding.
This part is pretty important, because once I start a game for this setting, I'm going to ask all the prospective players to vote on which nation to start in. So if you are interested, let me know which one you favor, and if you need any further information to make a decision on the matter.
As a reminder, the basic premise of the first game will be to help one of the nation leaders recreate the fallen empire, so who we start with is pretty important overall.

Green River Valley looks interesting, because of how angry the current queen is. One of the theocratic states would work well with the character I have in mind, a Paladin.
