"Thank you, my lord," Ladonna says before she dismisses herself with Relken in tow. Once she feels they are far enough away from prying ears, she turns to look to Relekn. She does look disappointed, but what can she do? "I'm...not really sure what to say."

"Thank you for the chat," Lillian says, waving goodbye. Then, she wanders through Hart, glancing around for someone else to speak to. Like Henna, perhaps. They haven't spoken much.

Ladonna Before they leave, the count says, "Relken, your new betrothed is arriving today at the docks. I'd recommend meeting her there."
"Of course, my lord."
"And Ser Marche, I am still a man of my word. When you do get married, you may still use the castle's chapel," Solan adds.
Once they are outside, Relken says, "I do not, either. I have to admit...I had started to look forward to being your husband. What will you do now?"
Lillian Searching and asking around, Lillian finds Henna working as a simple guard for the castle. She's up on the northern wall, looking rather miserable. "After that last expedition, when I lost all my equipment, I've had to do this to make ends meet. Months later, and I still can't afford replacements. At this rate of pay, I probably never will."

Lillian nods sadly. "Yes, I remember now. That was unfortunate. But if another expedition comes up, I'd be happy to pay to replace them. You're a capable fighter, and I may need your help."

"You should have replaced them anyway," Henna grumbles. "I agreed to help you out, and not only did I never get any pay, I lost my halberd, my mace and my long bow. Those things are all pretty expensive, and I'll never earn them back on a guard's salary. Worst of all, my reputation as a merc is in the gutter. I'm a laughing stock amongst the other sellswords. It took me years to build a rep. I have to work three times as hard as any human does, you know."

"Honestly, I was starting to look forward to being your wife," Ladonna admits. "You're a good man, and I would have been lucky," she says with a small frown. "As for what I'm going to do now, I need to go speak to someone in the church, and I need to speak to my father. He was really looking forward to our marriage," she explains.
With a sigh, she looks to Relken again before she takes a few steps closer to him and places a light and slightly lingering kiss upon his cheek. "I'm sure you'll make whoever you marry very happy, Relken," she says as she pulls away.

Lillian is a bit annoyed with Henna at first. After all, it was Ladonna who asked her along, not her. But on considering it further, she sighs, "Yes, yes, you're right. How much do you need to replace them? A hundred gold?"

Ladonna Relken blushes, but says, "And whoever you end up with will be the luckiest man in Tardiff. If anyone can clear this up, I suppose it's you. I'll try not to get my hopes up, but I wish you good luck in getting to the bottom of this."
Lillian "Well...yeah, that would cover it," Henna replies, a bit caught off-guard. "But I only make about one gold piece a month as a guards, so even if I had no expenses, it would take me years to earn enough coin back. Another merc job would be faster, but who is going to hire a merc with no weapons?"
(OOC: To be clear, Henna's use of the word 'you' was meant as plural; 'you' as in the PCs, not Lillian, specifically.)

"I'm proposing to cover it for you," Lillian clarifies. "You said it yourself, we should have replaced them."

"Oh...well, that would be great," Henna says, clearly gobsmacked. "Uh, that would really help me out, thanks."

"Good luck, Relken," Ladonna says with a faint smile. With that said, she turns and walks off to the church to talk to someone a out this whole mess.

"I'll go and fetch it now," Lillian says. She leaves to stop off at her quarters to fetch the hundred gold, then returns to Henna to give it to her.

Ladonna Ladonna makes her way to the chapel, where she finds Fannah Winters at her desk in her office. "It's good to see you, Ser Marche. I trust you are well?" she asks. Upon being asked about the church canceling the wedding, she seems stunned by the news. "What? Impossible. I'm the official court chaplain, any such order should have come through me, but I haven't heard anything about this. No kohen would be authorized to do such a thing. If the church issued such an order, it would have to come through a sadduce, like myself. But the only other sadduce around here is..." She pauses a moment in thought. "Voltera Sern. It must be her then."
Lillian Henna boggles at being handed such a large sum of gold like that. "Honestly, I never thought you'd actually do it," she admits. "Well...thank you. I can now tell the sergent where to stuff this job, and resume my work as a merc."
==========
Lillian gives Henna 100 gold pieces.

"Where is Sadduce Sern then?" Ladonna asks.

"She said something this morning about meeting with someone at the docks," Winters recalls. "I suspect you'd find her there."
