Daos this seems like a good time to use the Scroll of Protection from Undead. Hoping they count as less than 35 hit dice, but I'm hoping that since they should be an encounter for a level 3 party that they don't have more than 3 hit dice each D: I'll copy the description here, mostly for my convenience: "Protection from Undead (Reading time—4) When this scroll is read, a 5-foot radius circle of protection extends from, and moves with, the reader. It protects everyone within it from all physical attacks made by undead (ghasts, ghosts, ghouls, shadows, skeletons, spectres, wights, wraiths, vampires, zombies, etc.) but not magical spells or other attack forms. If a creature leaves the protected area, it is subject to physical attack. The protection restrains up to 35 Hit Dice/ levels of undead; excess Hit Dice/levels can pass through the circle. It remains in effect for 10d8 rounds." Just looking at the temple from the outside, does it seem explorable in 10 minutes (the minimum roll we could get)? Not counting possible hidden basements and things of this sort.

The structure isn't terribly large, and at least part of it has collapsed in on itself. So she could conceivably take the risk to use the scroll to bypass the spirits and search the place before the effect wears off.

This staff situation reminded me of something else that annoys me from 2E (or at least this game in particular). How steep are the prices for identifying magic items. It's been 2 years that I've been carrying this scimitar around and I've yet to know whatever it does..it honestly takes out the joy out of finding magical items because even if we keep this staff who knows if we'd ever find out what it does..
I did check previous games in this forum and noticed that the price for Identify was much cheaper (100 gp vs 1000 gp), why was it changed? Because gold seems really sparce (unless we're somehow missing much of it) and especially in a PbP game idk how much longer will it take to actually amass that amount of money for Kaelestia.

Yeah, 2e and older editions have this sor of encouragement to 'play around with the thing to find out what it does'.
By the book if someone has the spell the matl cost is 100gp pearl, but getting an npc ro id something is 1000 gp (because the spell as written takes a heavy toll).
A lot of dms houserule it differently for this reason. As far as cash goes, 2e modules often have quite a bit of treasure in them, but I agree these DL modules seem very light on that front...

As Tristen said, the general idea was that players were meant to figure these things out on their own. Usually through trial and error. The prices are probably so high to help discourage them from seeking outside help. And yeah, two years is a long time, but that's pbp. If this were a real time game, we'd only be on the 7th session, so that's less than two months.
As for money, now that you bring it up, these adventures have been a bit sparse--at least compared to what I remember from the FR adventures. But all of the Dragonlance adventures I've run to date have been converted 1E games, so that might be why. Back in 1E, you gained XP from treasure, so it makes sense there wouldn't be a ton of it; the players would level up too fast.
Still, in cases like this, you could always ask the party to pool their coin to pay for it. Arthogate and Sumina haven't really spent any of their coin so far. Or you could hope Parra learns how to cast it herself.
Funnily enough, the scimitar and the scroll, as well as the treasure found with it, was randomly rolled by me for a random encounter I also rolled. Maybe I can start randomly rolling additional treasure for some of the planned encounters, as well.
