Breila, Shadowdale isn't very far from Daggerdale at all. I think it is quite reasonable for Eringard to be from there.
Dram, as I said earlier, we're starting at level 1. That's why I asked what level you intend to dual class over to thief. You need to be at least level 2 to dual-class. This means you'll start as a level 1 mage, which means you can't use a long sword (unless you want to take the Militant Wizard* kit from the Complete Wizard's Handbook; but it requires a STR of at least 13). It also means you'll get Thieves Cant for free when you do dual-class, so you might not want to waste a language slot on it now.
As for your spells, you can choose which ones you want and roll for them (70% chance of success). If you fail the roll, you cannot try again until you gain another level in mage. You are only allowed a maximum of 11 total for first level spells.
(*The Militant Wizard kit gives you an extra weapon proficiency that can be used on any of the following: Axe, bow, crossbow, dagger, javelin, sling, spear, sword and warhammer. You also can take Warrior NWPs without penalty and get the Endurance NWP for free. The downside is, you can never learn 8th or 9th level spells, you learn spells as if your INT was two points lower (which means you have a 60% instead of a 70% chance to learn spells and you can have a maximum of 9 spells instead of 11), and you must choose three schools of magic you are barred from learning spells in at all).
Looks like, based on your roll, you'll start with 40 GP.

So 12, 7, 13, 12, 12 and 13. And you get a +1 and -1 to whichever ones you want, regardless of race. Elven Thief, Lvl 1 STR: 13 INT: 11 DEX: 14 WIS: 7 CON: 12 CHA: 12 it's a start.

Okay, Nuke. You'll start with 2 WP, 5 NWP and 2 languages. Your starting gold is 2d6 x 10 GP.
These are your base thief skill scores: PP - 25% OL - 5% F/RT - 5% MS - 25% HS - 20% DN - 20% CW - 70%
You start with 60 points you can distribute as you like, except you may not add more than 30 points to any one score.
Dram, for your weapon proficiencies, what kind of sword and bow? Long sword, short sword, etc? Long bow, short bow, etc? For your NWPs, what area of ancient history did you want to specialize in, and which ancient language did you want to know?

actually, I was going to go Assassin, but that is a 1E rule. Mostly because thieves can't use bows, which has always bugged me. There is a 2E kit, Adventurer, that allows any weapon, I'd go that way..
Short Bow and Long Sword.
tight rope walking appraisal direction sense riding-horse etc... rope use
Elven common
2bPVke9p2d6x10 starting gold.
PP=25 F/RT=5 +20 OL=5 +20 MS=25 HS=20 +10 DN=20 CW=70 +10
to be continued.... 2d6

Not sure where you are getting that 2e Thieves cannot use bows .. this is right out of the PHB for 2e for the most part it's just long bow, light and heavy crossbows not allowed to thieves however short bow and hand crossbow are allowed to thieves.

Greywolf is correct. Core rules state thieves can use short bows. You don't need a kit for that, but you can still take one if you want it for other reasons.
Either way, you'll start with 50 GP in spending money, so you can pick our your equipment with that.

Incidentally I bought the old 2e Arms & Equipment book arrived today. I love the old school art in it.

What I miss on this site is the "first unread post" button. It's not easy to see where one has left off.

Okay, Dram. I'm going to put down the Crown Wars for the period of ancient elven history that he knows, and say that the ancient elven language he knows is Seldruin. What else I need from you: Your character's age, height, and weight, biography, equipment (you start with 40 GP), and spells (roll 1d100 for each 1st level spell you want; you have a 60% chance of success and can know up to nine spells. Don't forget you've barred Alteration, Abjuration and Illusion and so cannot learn any spells from those schools. Breila, the site actually does have something like that, although it's not obvious. When you first enter the site, on the main page, if you click on the topic title on the far right of the screen, it will immediately take you to the most recent new post you have not yet read. Click on the image above for a closer look to see where I'm referring to.
