Eringard looks the sceletons over, then asks: "Isn't anyone else puzzled why the priest and his companion lie here unburied?"

Drezden shrugs "A bit, however I haven't seen a place to bury them unless we go back outside. For now perhaps we let them rest where they are and go through the doors to the north."

"The answer to that mystery lies there," Narta says, pointing to the Dethek dwarven runes carved on the wall. Drezden can speak dwarven, but never learned to read. However, Eringard, Gribben, and Maria can. The runes read: "Children of Earth, for your insults to Belesaria, my beloved, your axes shall be blunted and your crops shall wither. All living things shall flee my unhallowed might. In seven days, I shall tear down your halls, and leave no stone standing. -- Signed, Colderan the Mage-Lord" "My people know the tale well of the one called Coledran Morn, and how he drove out my people from the Eyrie," Narta adds, looking down at the blade.

The silly Elf asks a simple question. "So, what do them there rules say then?"

"Coledran Morn?" Eringard asks with a frown. "Is he related to Randal Morn? and how long ago was this?"

Drezden "Hmm is this of the lord Morn's family that drove the dwarves from their home? If this is then I've second thoughts about trying to restore Randall back to his place over the Zhents. Not that the Zhents are any better."

Narta reads the runes out aloud for the benefit of the others. "Children of Earth, for your insults to Belesaria, my beloved, your axes shall be blunted and your crops shall wither. All living things shall flee my unhallowed might. In seven days, I shall tear down your halls, and leave no stone standing. -- Signed, Colderan the Mage-Lord"
She further explains. "It was one hundred years ago. Yes, Colderan was the ancestor of Randal Morn. The Morns have always ruled Daggerdale, at least until the Zhents pushed them out. The story goes that Colderan's wife, Belesaria, wanted to buy jewelry from here, but wanted it for far cheaper than it should have been. When my people politely refused to lower their prices, she returned to her husband and claimed we had insulted her. In vengeance, he did everything he could to make the Brightblades suffer. When his wife passed on shortly after, he believed my people had poisoned her. He attacked the Eyrie with the full force of his magic, aiming to kill us all.
"The skeletons are the remains of the chief priest and the clan leader of my clan. The two heroes tried to kill Colderan, but they knew enough about his power to be aware that their end was upon them. Sending their kinsfolk to the halls of their cousins in the Mines of Tethyamar, Elshar Kurl, the priest, and Dorn the Grim, the chieftain, remained behind to buy time for their clan, knowing that they would probably die. They kept up the appearance of an entire clan resisting Colderan's forces and the rest of the clan escaped. The two dwarves sought to destroy the upstart mage and his curse by forging a sword of cold iron. They made the blade of dark ironstar steel and chanted sorcery with every strike of the smiths hammer." She holds up the blade she was carrying. "This blade, which ultimately failed to save them, is called Olar or 'Magekiller' in the human tongue and its very touch is lethal to wizards."

Drezden admires the blade but then begins to wonder about the warhammer he has recently acquired "Wonder what this hammer is called then, that and what properties might it hold? What purpose did it have..." the dwarf ranger trails off in thought before deciding that it is time to head north and deal with the doors. "Alright well I suspect it is time to go and see what lies beyond the two doors to the north. Narta will you and your group be remaining here or coming with us?" he asks politely and awaits her reply before heading north to the double doors.

Gribben backs away from the sword. How does the sword work> Does it render the magic users spells useless?

"We will remain here to pay our respects, unless you think you really need us for something," Narta replies.
"If the legends are true, it will burn any mage who touches it," Narta answers. "Only a non-mage can even hold it."

Drezden "Only thing we really need is someone good at trap checking and removal otherwise unless the doors are locked we should be alright Narta. Do you mind me holding onto the warhammer I found here? I'm more than happy to give it to you or one of yours being that you are the rightful clan of the Eyrie."

Eringard looks at the sword with disgust. "So it can easily and accidentally kill even innocent and good people. Such a thing should be put away and guarded carefully."
After Narta says she wants to stay behind, she agrees with Drezden about asking for help with traps, then proceeding through the doulbe doors.

Drezden stops and thinks for a moment "Never mind I keep forgetting Elvarian can check for traps. We'll be back after we go through the doors to the north. Stay safe Narta." having said that the dwarf ranger heads off to the double doors in the north.

Narta accepts the warhammer, and frowns at Eringard's comment but doesn't address it.
The party returns to the northern doors. Elvarian looks them over, but finds no evidence of traps. And there is no lock for him to pick. The doors can be pushed open at any time.
==============
Drezden gives Narta the warhammer. He is no longer encumbered. Elvarian searches the north doors for traps [F/RT 25%] (1d100): 50, fail. He finds no traps.
