When Maria is safely on the other side, Eringard ties the rope to her waist and calls to the others: "Ready? Keep the rope short to break any fall." Then she follows Maria. nwfqPA6d1-100 1-100

With one end of the rope tied around her waist, and the other held by Eringard, Maria starts to climb across the wall of the hill, over the gorge. Luckily she manages easily to get across this time.
Once on the other side, Eringard ties her end of the rope to herself and does he same thing. Luck is with her, as she makes it across without falling.
At long last, everyone is now on the other side of the gorge.

"We need to co-ordinate better next time" Eringard says as she unties the rope, rolls it up and hands it to Maria. "We need to talk more about what we want to do and how. So what is the plan?" she asks, looking at the dwarfs.

Drezden shrugs "Do what we came here to do. That or likely be killed by Zhents."

"Well, we won't know what to expect until we get up there," Gimak says. "The only plan we can come up with for now is to go in and see what we find. If the constable is right, and the nightshades are nesting in there, we wipe them out. We might want to decide on a marching order before we go any further."

"Maria should be in the middle" Eringard says. "I'll bring up the rear."

Maria at least knows or is canny enough to move to the middle of party marching order. She understood that casting spells made her vulnerable to attack so she makes sure that her front AND back are covered.

"Then where does that leave the elf and half-elf?" Gimak asks.

Drezden "They're taller than us and Maria so they can take up the back i guess they can fire above all us shorter folk."

Elvarian finally volunteers.
"I can run point. Don't expect me to be in the front line during combat, but I'll sure lead on the trail."
He looks around at the rest of the group before continuing. "Try to give me about thirty yards, and I will as well." before heading off.

Elvarian takes the lead, keeping at least 90 feet ahead of everyone else. As such, the elf reaches the top of the hill first. Before him is a large cavern opening, completely dark inside. To the northeast, however, are the ruins of a stone tower. From within those ruins, he can hear voices. Terrified voices, from the sound of it. They speak a language Elvarian doesn't know, but it sounds like dwarven to his ears. =========== (OOC: The map below shows everyone's positions.) Once Drezden catches up to Elvarian, he can hear the dwarven voices, as well. However, he can also understand them. "Please, don't kill us!" the voices plead. "Moradin save us!"

Drezden rushes back to the rest of the group and tells them what he heard "Dwarf voices pleading for mercy up ahead come lets go get a closer look." the dwarf ranger then heads back to where he heard the voices passes the stupefied Elvarian and moves up further until he can see the source of the voices.
