Too eager, calm yourself! Malavar silently chastises himself. Letting Krah take the lead, he circles the orc, waiting for another to strike down it down.
Move to the square opposite Krah.

Malavar strikes again, and this time his aim is true. He impales the orc warrior right in her heart, killing her instantly. Everyone then turns their attention to the last orc. Although wounded, he fights like a champion and deflects every attack thrown at him, save Dallion's. The bladesinger, looking to avenge his people, manages to dance past the orc's defenses and slit his throat. With this, the battle has been won. Drezden continues to calm the animals, but now that the fighting has ended, they seem to be recovering their senses. =============== InitiativeOrc 04 2+3 = 5 Malavar 2+3 = 5 Krah: 2+6 = 8 Jaxle 3+7 = 10 Orc 05 8+3 = 11 Taska: 4+7 = 11 Dallion 8+5 = 13 Drezden 9+7 = 16 Round 4!Orc 04 stabs her short sword at Krah in hide armor (+2 hit) [TH 14] (1d20+2): 11+2 = 13, bare miss. |SkyyuJW1d20Malavar moves 5 feet southwest and stabs his weapon of choice (+1 hit/dmg) with excellent strength (+2 hit/+4 dmg) at Orc 04 [TH 14] (1d20+3): 17+3 = 20, hit for (1d8+6): 7+6 = 13 damage. As the last orc falls, Malavar drops to one knee and recites a brief prayer of thanks to Tempus. His thanksgiving done, he then inquires who's in need of healing.

After tying up the animals, Drezden searches the body of the first orc. Aside from the chain mail he is wearing, he is also carrying a short sword, a necklace of elf ears (5 of them) and three gold pieces.
Meanwhile, Malavar says his prayer then inspects the group. The animals are fine; Drezden having taken care of them. Among the people, Jaxle is by far the worst off, barely able to stand after a near fatal injury. Krah is badly beaten up, and Taska has some cuts and bruises. Everyone else seems fine.

Determining that Jaxle and Krah are the worst wounded, Malavar lays his hands on them and implores Tempus to heal the wounded warriors that they may fight bravely another day. The worst of their wounds close, but this time it is a limited miracle. Perhaps Tempus wishes to impart some lesson?
"Hmm, your injuries will take some time to heal. I will do what I can while we march, but I recommend that both of you stay well clear of the front line if we end up in another battle. Too much activity and your wounds will open up again," Malavar mutters. "As for your injuries, Captain, they are not so bad. I can help speed your recovery over the coming days if you'll permit it, but there's not much more I can do."

Drezden takes the coin from the dead orc and digs a hole with his hands in the ground and buries the disgusting necklace of elf ears. Then kicks the dead orc for good measure. "Sick bastard." he mutters as he kicks the dead orc and spits on the corpse.

"It is of no concern," Krah says. "It is only a flesh wound. And next time, I will not allow it to happen."
"Oh, is that so?" Taska asks Malavar. "Hopefully you have excellent bedside manner then." Changing the subject, she asks, "I wonder what that was all about, though? I wasn't expecting to see orcs on the road to Lonelywood, of all places."
==============
Malavar casts Cure Light Wounds on Jaxle, restoring (1d8): 1 HP. Jaxle improves from near death to critically wounded. Malavar casts Cure Light Wounds on Krah, restoring (1d8): 2 HP. Jaxle improves from seriously wounded to moderately wounded. Drezden adds 3 GP to the party treasure pool.

With the fight over, Malavar moves to inspect the corpse of the murdered elf, checking for any means to identify him(?).

Dallion searches the orc he killed, finding a suit of chain mail, a short sword, another elf ear necklace (this one has 4 ears) and 3 gold pieces. Jaxle searches the remaining orcs, finding another ten gold pieces, as well as three more suits of chain mail and short swords and more elf ear necklaces.
Malavar checks the dead elf, but finds no way to identify him...or her. It's hard to tell, the poor thing has been cut up so badly and stripped of any belongings. Dallion searches for signs of more elves, but finds none.

"These beasts certainly were no friends of elves," Malavar notes quietly with regards to the elf-ear necklaces his compatriots have discovered. "And this poor soul is so badly done by I can't even tell if it was a man or a woman. I have no pick or shovel to bury the body, but if we all pitch in, we should be able to find enough stones to construct a cairn."
