Ravarie stares at Lalora and Sorrith or a little bit as they reply back to Dorias. "Maybe I'm just being naive," she says thoughtfully. "But aren't the Silvanesti kind of doing the same thing to my people?" she asks innocently enough. "To rebuild your home, you are displacing thousands of Kagonesti," she explains. "And, much in the same way the Dragon armies turned people into slaves, you are doing the same thing."

Dorias shakes his head at Lalora's response, a sad expression on his face. "Perhaps, but it seems unlikely to me. To whom did the goodly gods turn when they wished to make their return known? To a barbarian human woman and her equally human husband. Not an elf, a dwarf, or a kender. A human. So whatever your opinion of humans as a whole, it would appear that the gods do not share your antipathy for them."
"My father died defending the retreat from Qualinesti and I am told that the forest and Qualinost both lie in ruins, but there is hope that if enough Qualinesti return they might be restored. Your people also fled the dragonarmies, but they are gone now. What prevents you from returning and rebuilding?"
"Ah yes, the custom of ostracism. It is most unfortunate that this one elf was able enough to rise to a position from whence he could command destruction and death on the world. It must be comforting to be able to say that he was not one of you, and that the elven people should not be held to account for his actions. Would it surprise you to hear that many humans also say that those who fought in the dragonarmies are no kin of theirs, no matter what bonds they might have had before the war. Why should they be held responsible for the actions of other humans when they actively fought to defeat them and end their cruelties?"

Lalora puts a hand to her chest, a look of offended shock on her face. "How could you even say that? After all my mother did for you? After all my people have done for yours? You were little more than savages when we arrived, you couldn't read or write or know anything about our culture and our heritage. The Dragonarmies acted out of cruelty and malice. We are helping elevate your people into a proper civilization. I don't even know how you can compare the two." Lalora makes a scoffing noise at this, but apparently has no comeback to it so doesn't offer one. Sorrith shakes his head sadly. "The nightmare. All of Silvanesti has been cursed. Those who enter are driven mad by the images they see. They say the trees weep blood, that ferocious, mutated creatures stalk the forests. Our kirath'algos work tirelessly to restore the forest, but it has been a decade now, and may well be several more before their work is done." Becoming flustered, Lalora stammers a bit, then says, "I wouldn't expect a half-human to understand the complexities of our way of life," then storms off to the inn ahead of the group in a huff. (OOC: Kirath'algos translates to Vanguard of Hope.)

Grognak grunts, showing his displeasure toward the two elves.

Ravarie watches Lalora storm off with her eyes narrowed before she turns to Sorrith, touches his arm, and suddenly switches to the elven language. "You know I mean no ill will towards your mother. She was kind to me. She even treated me as a daughter, and both you and your sister have been kind to me. I will always be grateful to that, but surely you at least realize that before your mother I had at least four other masters, all of which were not kind to me," she says. She looks as if she has more to say, but she holds her tongue there. She isn't really sure she can even convey what she was trying to say in the first place. How could she possibly convey that while she sympathies with the Silvanesti's troubles of losing their home land, that doesn't make it right for them to take over the Kagonesti's homeland just because their ways are different from theirs.

"A curse? Who would have the power to curse an entire nation in such a terrible fashion? Feal-Thas was rumoured to be a great wizard, but there are no accounts of him commanding such magic in the battle for Ergoth." Dorias answers with concern.
"I apologize for upsetting your sister, Master Sorrith. Will she be alright?" he says when Lalora storms off.

Sorrith speaks to Ravarie in the elven tongue. "As you say, my family was kind to you. I am not sure why arguing with my sister that others were not is supposed to accomplish anything, though." Switching back to Common, he says, "The Dark Elf you speak of," he does not seem eager to speak Feal-Thas's actual name, "led the White Dragonarmy, which was the smallest of the five Dragonarmies. The largest and most powerful was the Red Dragonarmy, and that was the one that invaded my homeland, as well as the homeland of our Qualinesti cousins. And yes, while Qualinesti was burned to the ground by the horrible flames of their red dragons, my own homeland had to face that horrible curse instead." He adds, "As for Lalora, please have patience with her. She is young and she...we both...have been through quite a lot in recent times." Entering the inn, they find it largely empty of people. A man stands behind the bar, and looks surprised to see more people entering, as there appear to be no other patrons at the moment in the common area. Lalora sits off at a table by herself in the corner, arms crossed and lips pouted. Sorrith moves over to join her, and they share terse, whispered conversation in elven. Reeker, who has been uncharacteristically quiet for awhile now, limps over to a table and starts struggling to climb up onto a chair that was clearly designed for a human sized figure, and one with both legs at that.

Ravarie purses her lips together, and decides to join Reeker at the table that he picked. She looks around the tavern for a few moments, before finally saying. "Do you think there will be enough room for us?"

"Unless everyone here turns in early for the night, I would assume the lack of patrons indicates that any rooms will be vacant," Dorias answers with a grin.
"Innkeep! My companions and I are in need of bed and board for the night. What do you have to offer?" he calls out to the barkeep as he approaches the bar.

The innkeeper, who has been eying the party with a mix of surprise and a bit of confusion, suddenly snaps out of it when Dorias speaks to him. "Ah, yes...salutations. All of my rooms are presently available. And there is a stable around back for your dog-thing, or whatever that is," he adds, gesturing to Grognak. "Each room is one steel per night."

"That 'dog-thing' is Grognak, and you'd do best not to rile him. He is a great warrior, but his temper is short," Dorias answers breezily.
"Now, who wants a room of their own for the night?" he asks his travelling companions. "I'm paying."
OOC: I assume the inkeep is actually referring to Grognak himself. I don't recall him having an animal companion? And "travelling companions" includes Reeker and the elves.

Ravarie wrinkles her nose at the way that the innkeeper addresses Grognok, but doesn't say anything. "I can room with the other elves," she says. "That should keep costs down a little."

Grognak growls at the innkeeper. “Fine. Like sleeping outside anyway.”

The innkeeper actually starts when Grognak speaks, and takes a step back. "Habbakuk save me, it speaks! I mistook it for a wild animal." He calms down a bit, then discreetly leans over to Dorias and asks, "It is house trained, yes? If so, it can stay...but if it makes a mess, I will charge extra."
At Dorias' offer, Sorrith replies, "That is most generous, but Lalora and I can pay for ourselves."
At Ravarie's offer, Lalora clears her throat and says, "I think it would be more appropriate if you had your own room for the night."
Reeker digs through his coin purse and sighs. "Think will take up on offer," he tells Dorias, crestfallen.

“Me? Raised by wolves,” Grognak grumbles. “You? Raised by people. But still more polite than you.”
