Conard Marpique, 2nd lvl Ranger AC: 17 | HP's: 18 of 18 | Passive Perception: 10 | Natural Explorer: Grasslands | Favored Enemy: Dragons | Position of Privilege Conditions: None.
Conard freezes at Caelin's gesture and drops low to the brush, waving for the others to do the same.
When Caelin's orders ring out the young squire winces and tightens his grip on the haft of his spear. The deception sounds painfully thin in his ears along with the thought that the force might be small enough for all of the lieutenants to be recognizable to the troops.
Conard motions almost frantically for Zakkoth to move up, while casting about for someway to help or protect Caelin. Perhaps a distraction? If we move to surround them they will surely notice us. If we have to fight and any escape this will all be for nought.

Hp 18/18 AC 15 Initative 1 PP 12 6/4 MP ----- Zakkoth nodded to Caelin's request. "Wise plan.' He say. It won't be too hard for him to act like this. Wouldn't it be much easier to give up his soul to this lieing godly harlot again? "Frulam? Heh?' Zakkoth walk forward, with an expriession if arrogant veteran. "But he isn't here. Is he? I am veteran of the blue dragonarmy, worms' he raise his old trusty shield. "And let me tell you, things are more complicated then we thought. We draconians can live long. Ironwood "Iro" of the Cragpine Vale -- Kagonesti Lorekeeper (Circle of the Land [Mountain] Druid) -- Level 2 AC: 13 | HP: 13/13 | Passive Perception: 13 | Conditions: Inspiration | Spell Slots: Level 1 (1/3) | Wild Shape: 2/2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The elf freezes as Caelin announces himself to the dragonwrought and their dragonborn leader. He hoped the young man had a plan beyond "improvise", the lives of countless innocents hung in the balance based on his bold gamble. Holding his breath for the raiders' reaction, Ironwood drops his head in resignation - it was clear by their response to Caelin's attempted deception that they would not be won over.
Still, perhaps Zakkoth could salvage the gambit - his dragonborn appearance might lend him further credibility. As he waited the hue and cry of the raiders to see through the ruse, Ironwood readied himself to call upon Zivilyn's roots so that the search party might not escape to warn their allies of the party's approach.
Mechanics - Readying the Entangle spell with the Trigger of "Combat begins", targetting as many of the dragonwrought search party as possible provided the leader is within the area of effect.

The two baaz share another look of confusion at the bozak's words. The female one speaks up first. "What do you mean 'he?' Frulam is a woman."
The male steps forward. "What are you saying, old man? We don't fight for ourselves, we fight for a greater cause. To bring back our goddess. You know what I think? I think...this old codger is off his rocker. Dragonarmy, you said? Wow, you're older than dirt. No wonder you aren't making any sense." The two baaz and the kobolds share a chuckle.
The tension broken, the baaz turn their attention back to Caelin. "Well, you said we were attacking the keep, right? Let's get going then. Sounds more fun than looking for slaves in the brush anyway." He gestures for the youth and the bozak to lead the way.

~Is he actually going to go with them?~ Eliana thinks to herself. She remains as quiet as possible as she certainly doesn't want to end up as a slave.

Zakkoth frown "Greater cause? You imbecilic hatchlings! The clerics have probably dropped your eggs before you hatched!" He bark and stomp, springing his wings. "I was raised in the great temple of Neraka! The screams of the human sacrfices were my lullaby, I washed my claws in their blood before supper, I have witnessed the Emperror, and the Queen...' he pause his eyes are looking beyond. "Has visited my fever nightmares... so beautiful and... terrifying.." he lost for a moment in the memories of visions that as lame slave tasted like a very sweet sin. Thought for decades Kitiars has stolen her place in his mind. Then he frown again, his claws wrapped around the symbol which radiate with flames of the five colors. "Don't you teach ME about a greater cause, you half brained hatchlings!" He hiss. {Ooc actions} Persuasion(?)

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TarkhisisHP: 18 of 18 | AC: 15 | Perception: 15 | Insight: 17 | Inspiration: 0 Conditions: None.Caelin barked a laugh, "Come know Wyrmtongue," he looked to the two Baaz and then back to Zakkoth, "these hatchlings have none of your years, or your prophetic dreams. First, we must secure this settlement and the keep." He put a reassuring hand on the old Draconian's massive shoulder, he then turned back to the two cultists, he snapped his fingers as if remembering a train of thought. "Mistress Frulam moves to surround the keep, what of the other stone structures? The Inn was set aflame in our initial assault, what of the other gathering place, the ... temple. How many of our forces remain there? We may need them at the keep if the Lord of Greenest can mount an effective counter-assault." However, as he spoke, his hand, after making a sharp snap, pointed to the rear of the cultist's group, and crooked, motioning Conard and the other's forward. {Out of Character Actions}OOC: Trying to get info on the number of forces at the Temple. Rolling Deception again, 1d20+3= 20;imuoNEqb1d20+3. At the same time hopefully subtly indicating that the group should follow and attack once in position. Conard Marpique, 2nd lvl Ranger AC: 17 | HP's: 18 of 18 | Passive Perception: 10 | Natural Explorer: Grasslands | Favored Enemy: Dragons | Position of Privilege Conditions: None.
Conard lays his spear on the ground and blades his hand, motioning left and right, indicating that the group should split up and surround the search party. Then, finding a moderately sized stone, Conard sights on a bush about thirty degrees off of Caelin's approach angle, trying to draw attention to a spot that would facilitate the party's approach, and throws.
Once again taking up his spear, Conard waits, hoping to delay the moment he has to move as long as possible, but not wanting to let Caelin and Zakkoth out of sight.

Spotting Conard moving to throw the stone, Perceval steels himself. If his opponents turn away from him, that would be opening enough. Such advantages are momentary, with no room for hesitation. {OOC}Perceval will charge in if he and the party are likely to get a surprise round. "Alright, alright, you're a venerated font of wisdom," the male baaz says, holding up his hands defensively. "Don't get so worked up, yeesh." To Caelin, he says, "You don't have to worry about the temple. We got three groups working on getting it open. One is at the front door, another at the back, and a third patrolling around it. Mostly kobolds and draconians, like us," he says, gesturing to his own group. "But they got a couple of drakes with them, and are led by a Night Warrior. They should have it open any minute now. If they haven't gotten in there already, that is." Caelin is aware of the existence of drakes--dog-sized draconic reptiles that the Children create by using a variation of the same ritual that birthed draconians; but using dragon scales instead of eggs. They are a favored pet of the Children and often protect their hideouts.
Caelin is also aware that a Night Warrior is a low ranking officer among the Knights of the Lily, the warrior branch of the Knights of Neraka. ================== (OOC: I drew up a crude map of the area. Most of the party is still in the tunnel, the entrance unseen by the kobolds and baaz so far. Each hex is about 5 feet. The stream is shallow enough to cross on foot, but it is considered difficult terrain. The two baaz speak with Caelin and Zakkoth, while the kobolds continue poking around in the brush.)

He didn't like how cramped they were and how isolated Caelin and Zakkoth were with the two baaz they were trying to deceive.
The elf kept his eyes on the kobolds as he moved, careful to freeze when any looked their way and keeping to the scrub and cover where he could.

"What was that?" He moved quickly drawing his thick broad bladed knife and one of Nighthill's borrowed daggers. He quickly moved to the south-east, then proceeded south, the closest kobold at least five feet from him. Eliana starts chanting the words of a spell now that Caelin and Zakkoth have made their move on the group of enemies. She raises her right hand, and points it towards the male baaz (assuming that is B1). It is only after saying the needed words for her spell that three magical blue bolts shoot from her fingertips, and streak towards the unsuspected baaz. {Combat}nr9DGoOy1d20+3 Initiative 3d4+3 DMG 1d20+3·3d4+3
