CH. 08 - Once More With Feeling

"There is a good chance," Kalana says. "And we don't really have a way to get up to the second floor anyway."

[Daos]

"Well, I can fly," Bayla points out, flapping her arms a bit to demonstrate.

[HorizonsDream]

"But can you carry each one of us up there?" Kalana asks.

[GravityEmblem]

“Hell no. I can barely lift myself, let alone this scrawny bird.”

[Daos]

"I could carry some rope up there," Bayla offers.

[GravityEmblem]

Kallian rolls her eyes. “Like THAT’S gonna work...” She pauses. “Actually, that could work.”

[Bishgada]

"But to what end? Where will be the entry point? The roof? The windows? We will scout the place and if we can find an entry point on the second floor we can go along with that, but we should be ready to the possibility that we must force our way up through the first floor."

Brax thinks it all over "Well flying up could be good for scouting but do we really want to risk that way to get us up there? Feels like it adds some unnecessary risk."

[HorizonsDream]

"Well, our main goal is to rescue the prisoners," Kalana says. "And the prisoners are upstairs in those rooms. Actually, since Imrich and Senllip both escaped, that means a room is empty," she points out. "While they might have replaced the boarding, there is a good chance no one is in that room, so we could break in."

[Bishgada]

"Right, under the over of silence they will not hear us breaking the window boards, but if the door to the empty room is open, they might see us and call for backup in we are in trouble again. Maybe while scouting and flying we can try to see if the room is actually empty and if the door is closed or not, peeking through the boarding gaps." Senllip agrees. "Anyway, even if we are able to enter from the second floor with stealth, we still need to be able to clear the rooms without making noise to avoid their crocking."

(OOC: It is good that we have 3 plans. If we can't get from the second floor, we still have two plans for the first floor. One with distraction and coming from behind the frogs and one stealthy brute force )

"Alright, if there's nothing else to add, Bayla and I will go prepare our spells," Auli'i says.

[HorizonsDream]

"It seems we have some basic plans down, so go ahead," Kalana says to Bayla and Auli'i. "After you are done, we will move out."

[Daos]

Bayla and Auli'i go find a quiet place to study and pray.

(OOC:  It will take about an hour and 40 minutes for them to finish.  Does anyone want to do anything during that time, or should I just skip ahead?)

Senllip looks around searching for some snack. "Maybe ear plugs will help as well... Oh... here is some toasted bread... maybe we should bring spare weapons in case we manage to give it to the captives... wait, it is just old bread... to defend themselves if we can't kill all the Slaadi before... *chewing* we get *chewing* to their rooms. Oh.. and maybe we can prepare 'smoke bags'..." now Senllip looks for a better thing to eat while drinking some water,  "we used to use it as kids, you fill a heat resistable bag, from leather for example, with smoldering grass or sticks and when you open it several of them the room is quickly engulfed with smoke and covers you. It can help with crowd control. Now that we know what to expect we can come better prepared. Anything else you can think of hindering the frogs jumping at us? Ropes?"

(OOC: I feel like we should come with more strategies about how to prevent the Sladdi overwhelming us, even if they see us all together. They use brute force and they sure have plenty of it. Stealth and distraction or picking the right floor is the first step to go smartly about it, but if we can also set traps, divide and conquer, lock them in other rooms somehow... all of these are the next steps and will greatly increase our success probability.

Maybe we can even rent some locals to just gather outside and make a lot of noise to keep their alert somewhere else... like we settle near the entry point and only then the crowd starts the distraction and we can easily get in unnoticed.

Don't forget that "sneaking" the second time is harder.
