Lillian glares at Ladonna. "Well, I suppose I realized some things I believed were false. And I didn't take it very well. Is that satisfactory?" Her voice drips with sarcasm and irritation.

"Not exactly, no," Ladonna says. "I don't know where all this disdain for me is coming from." She honestly seems confused as to what is going on.

"Well, I happened to think we were...friends, a while ago," Lillian says bitterly. "That we cared about the same things, that we could help each other with our goals. Then you put your own wealth over the wellbeing of your serfs," she practically spits the word. "And, well, things went downhill from there."

"I put my own wealth ahead of my serfs?" Ladonna asks then shakes her head. "I simply kept things the same as the were from the previous Lord. On top of that, I haven't heard word from them since that moment. Admittedly, I haven't had the time to see what was going on with them, but I'm not making a huge deal out of them not paying me. Once I have more time, then things will most likely change there, but I felt it was best that the status quo was kept until then," she explains. "Though, even if we are friends, they are my serfs. What I ultimately do with them and the land is up to me," she points out. "Aside from the serfs though, what else happened that you are upset about?"

Lillian looks furious for a few moments, then sighs. "Well, when I asked you the same thing at the Winter Ball, you basically said you weren't going to do anything about it. ...your taxes, that is," Lillian continues. "Then one the Barone snide comments struck me the wrong way. He said you treated me like a servant--he was exaggerating, of course. But I looked back at the way you ordered me around, the way I blindly agreed with you on crucial decisions...it didn't feel like we were equals."

"Ah, the ball, where nearly everything we said and did was being watched by nearly every important person in Hart," Ladonna smiles slightly. "Taxes and the like were not my top priority, just as they aren't my top priority now."
"You have the choice to disagree with me," Ladonna says. "And you have chosen not to on most occassions,' she says. "So I'm not sure how your own decisions are my fault. Shouldn't you be more upset with yourself for not voicing your opinion when you wished to do so?" She asks.

"Ser Marche, I didn't even begin to form opinions," Lillian retorts. "I was a useless, antisocial, piece of garbage, and I am upset with myself," she spits. "In the face of such a confident, forceful personality like you, I simply heard what you thought, decided it was acceptable, and moved on. And I came to regret those decisions." Lillian shakes her head. "...no, you're right. I'm angry at you for foolish, petty reasons. I'm sorry." After a brief pause, she says, "Look, perhaps this is a bad time, but I'd like to propose an...alliance."

"An alliance?" Ladonna asks. "What exactly are you proposing?"

"Two things in particular. First, whenever one of these decisions comes up again, we discuss it. And we make our choice together," Lillian says. She's not eager to simply follow Ladonna, and trying to take the lead didn't work out this time. "And second, we help each other with our goals. You scratch my back, I scratch yours, that sort of thing. We're bound together a lot more than either of us realize. I think this agreement will make things easier for both of us."

"Which means that I need to tell you what my goals are," Ladonna says. "Can you keep my goals to yourself?" she asks. "You let it slip out what happened on my land during the ball, after all," she points out. She didn't have a problem keeping Lillian's goals quiet, but she was more worried about herself.

"It's a mistake I won't make again," Lillian promises.

Ladonna quietly considers Lillian's proposal for a minute or two. "Okay," she finally says. "I'll agree to it, after a test period. I don't feel comfortable telling you all of my goals at one time. That has nothing against you personally," she adds. "I just tend to keep my plans to myself, so it is hard for me to open up about them," she explains. "As for the test period, I hope you can understand why I am requiring that." After all, even if it was an accident, Lillian did talk about what happened on her land, and that is enough to make Ladonna nervous.

"That seems reasonable to me," Lillian agrees. "With any luck, that test period will be a quiet few months."

"With the way things have been going, that is doubtful,' Ladonna says. "Alright, well I am going to go get some rest. I probably have to help my father with the upcoming wedding." She wasn't going to spill all her goals right now. She needed a little time to decide which ones to tell.

Lillian nods and bids Ladonna farewell. In a way, she feels dissatisfied, like nothing has changed. But she tells herself that nothing good was going to come of working against each other. Contemplating the situation, she, too, heads off to get some rest.
