Sumina follows after Twill, and looks over the skeleton in question. "Trap or did someone kill him?" she asks curiously.

"Looks like someone shot him," Twill notes, pointing to the crossbow bolt. "Should have worn a helmet. Chain mail won't protect your head, after all." He shakes his head sadly.

"Ooh, secrets!" Twill remarks, moving over to the columns. After a few minutes, he waves them over. "Found something!" Leaning against the western-most column is a skeleton in chain mail--or the remnants of chain mail. A crossbow bolt is sticking out of the skull. From what Sha'al can tell, the tower looks to be about 35-40 feet from the columns. The tower appears to be about 40 feet in height, so maybe four stories or so. There do appear to be a few windows on every floor except the top one. Sha'al curses silently in his head. I'm guessing who or whatever did that is long gone, but it probably came from the tower. I'd still keep a weather eye out. Dead, undead, conjured or magically possessed; we've no idea what this place holds. Best we can do is treat it like a live trap and move along tender as mice in a hold full of starving cats.He turns his attention back to the two Minotaur

Arthogate chuckles at Twil "Ya ain't wearing a helmet either Twil. But yeah I'm wondering if someone does or didn't live in that tower and one of the guards shot this fella. Good shot judging the distance and all that."

Kaelestia
Hp: 8/8 - AC: 5 As Twill is busy checking the corpse, Kaelestia says softly to the others: " The doors do not seem magically trapped, at least from what I can see. We may need to search them for non magical traps though."

Sha'al nods, readying his shield and trident. Once everyone is across and ready, he asks Twill to check the doors for normal traps

"I wouldn't worry. From the looks of it, this guy's been dead for years, maybe decades," Twill says. "Isn't that right, Mister Dead Guy?" The kender slips his hand into the skull and manipulates the jaw, to make it look like the corpse speaks. "You bet, Twill!" Twill says in a funny voice while trying to hide the movement of his lips, and failing pretty badly. Arthogate chuckles at Twil "Ya ain't wearing a helmet either Twil." "Nope, not wearing chain mail, either," Twill says. "Don't worry, though, I'll just duck if someone shoots at me." Meanwhile, Granker and Parra begin ascending up the trail next. Both are quite large, making the task much more difficult than it was for the other, smaller party members. They are also both considerably heavier. Their backs to the canyon wall, their hands on the rope, they slowly sidestep up the path, but with each step dust and debris falls from the path, tumbling down into the canyon below. From his vantage point, Sha'al can see a large crack increasing in size beneath the minotaurs, alongside the canyon wall. The minotaurs cannot see it from their perspective.

Sumina raises an eyebrow as Twill makes the skeleton talk, then shakes her head. "Why don't you check the entrance for traps," she says to Twill.

"Okay, but which one?" Twill asks, referring to the door to the north and the door to the west. He tries to extract his hand from the skull, but accidentally pulls the skull off entirely. "Whoops!" he says. He manages to pull the skull off his hand, and sets it on the ground. "Sorry about that, Mr. Dead Guy."

Kaelestia
Hp: 8/8 - AC: 5 " Maybe you could start with the northern one." - Kaelestia suggests, trying to ignore the skull dropping from the kender's hand.

"Okie-dokie!" Twill says, and he moves to the north door to look it over. After a few minutes, he calls back, "This one looks clean!"
Meanwhile, the two minotaurs pause when chunks of the path start to break off, tumbling down to the canyon below. Frantically, the two minotaurs start speeding up as the path crumbles behind them entirely. Fortunately, they're able to reach the landing before it completely breaks apart, but the bad news is that returning is going to offer some interesting challenges.

Sha'al claps them on the shoulder once each as they make it. Caught that sailfull on a close reach, didn't you. We'll figure something out on the way back... he checks if the rope is still attached securely

Sumina turns to look to make sure that the two minotaurs are safely across, and frowns when their way back is gone. That was something they were going to have to deal with later. "Well, the north door seems safe, so let's go in through there."
