"That's your ship there, the sohar?" he asks. "Yeah, cannons could be installed. At most two, on a ship that size. Won't come cheap, though. A cannon is 6,000 gold pieces, plus you need the cannonballs, which are thirty gold each and the smoke powder, which is a thousand per keg."

"Well, congrats on the new job then," the innkeeper says to him. The Teufelstöter tastes herbal and complex: it's thick and syrupy, with strong black licorice notes on the finish. The alcohol is potent, but nothing his dwarven constitution can't handle.

"Depends," he answers. "Ballistae and catapults have light, medium and heavy versions. The heavier, the better range and more damage, but the more space they take up and the more crew you need to operate them. Light ballistae are 400 gold, medium are 600 gold and heavy ones are 800 gold. As for catapults, light ones cost 500 gold, medium ones cost 700 gold and heavy ones cost 1,000 gold. How many crew you got? Just to operate the cannons takes 2 men each, and the ballistae take 1, 2 or 4 depending on size, while the catapults take 1, 3 or 5 depending on their size. As for how many you install, depends on the size of the ship's deck."

(OOC: A sohar has 45 HP and a cargo ship has only 36 HP. Both sohar and cargo ships have 100 tons of cargo space. Installing an artillery weapon uses up a number of HP and cargo space tons, and once you have filled either, you can't install any more.)
Ballista, light - 5 points (1 ton)
Ballista, medium - 10 points (3 tons)
Ballista, heavy - 15 points (5 tons)
Catapult, light - 6 points (1 ton)
Catapult, medium - 12 points (3 tons)
Catapult, heavy - 18 points (5 tons)

Brax enjoys the different drink and appreciates it's taste and signals for another round.
[ooc: I would suggest perhaps just one light ballista on the cargo ships perhaps then seeing the HP they use one or two of those is better than nothing and shouldn't harm the ship too badly depending upon how many crew it takes to operate them.]

"Well, I would have to hire more crew to operate the weaponry, but that wouldn't be a problem," Kalana says. "I could probably install four medium ballistas. I don't know what, but it seems weird to me to install a catapult on a ship. I always pictured them as more ground weapons than ship weapons."
