The Bluemoon Kalana orders the Bluemoon to continue closing and to fire. Unfortunately, every single crossbow fired misses, including Kalana's, as well as the ballista. The caravel returns fire, and the effect is devastating. First, a volley of arrows rains down upon the deck. Two of the new sailors Kalana recently hired fall, as does one of the marines. She also takes a minor hit. Then the caravel fires their ballista and catapult, and both hit the ship pretty hard, especially the catapult which badly damages the hull. The Bluemoon is starting to look pretty rough. "If we take another hit like that, we'll probably sink," warns Bayla from the crow's nest.
The Blue Diamond The second caravel moves ever closer to the Blue Diamond. When it's about 200 yards away, Cassie announces, "We're in range for both the ballista and the catapult, captain. What are your orders? Should we continue to close, or try to evade?"
The Salty Dwarf While the cog continues to bear down on the Salty Dwarf, it manages to reach the floundering Tiaru and come up alongside it.

The Bluemoon The Bluemoon's crew fires their crossbows, their ballista and their catapult and once again, all of their shots miss entirely and splash into the drink around the caravel. It returns fire and the Bluemoon takes a few hits, but doesn't lose anyone and the ship holds together for now.
The Blue Diamond The Blue Diamond fires its ballista and catapult at the second caravel, and while the latter misses, the former does score a glancing blow against its hull. The caravel retaliates. Arrows rain down on the deck, taking out four crewmen. Their ballista bolt then takes out another three. Fortunately, their catapult misses entirely.
The Salty Dwarf Crewmen from the Tiaru start boarding and heading below deck. "Looks like we can get maybe half of the Tiaru's crew, but that's all we have room for," Thom informs Brax. "Looks like that cog is nearly in firing range, too, so we can't hang around here too long."

The Bluemoon The caravel widens the distance between the two ships. Kalana orders the marines to cease fire. Instead, the crew fire the ballista, which deals minor damage to the enemy ship. The caravel's crew has no problem with firing bows from this distance, and let loose another volley. Fortunately, they all miss. Their ballista bolt hits the Bluemoon for minor damage, and luckily they catapult misses, as well.
The Blue Diamond The crew try to put distance between themselves and the second caravel, but it's far faster and more maneuverable than a cargo ship and it actually gets even closer. Worse still, the cog is still bearing down on them and will soon be in firing range. The crew fire the ballista and the catapult at the caravel. The former does minor hull damage, and the latter just barely misses its target.
The caravel returns fire. Fortunately, the volley of arrows miss, as does their ballista. Their catapult strikes the ship's bow, however, smashing it and taking out three more crewmen in the process.
(OOC: Yeah, the caravel is way more maneuverable than the Blue Diamond, so getting away from it is proving tricky anyway.)
The Salty Dwarf After loading as many crew from the Tiaru into the cargo hold, the Salty Dwarf pulls away and tries to move away from the incoming cog. It does so successfully, staying out of its firing range, but the cog continues to pursue in hopes of catching up.

The Bluemoon Kalana and the crew fire their crossbows, but still miss even as the Bluemoon gains considerable ground on the caravel. They fire their ballista, killing several crewmen and doing some light damage. The caravel is now too close to use their catapult, but they fire their ballista and repay the damage to the Bluemoon. "If we can get about 30 yards closer, we'll be in long range for cannons," Bayla points out.
The Blue Diamond The Blue Diamond continues to try and get away from the second caravel, but to no avail. The ship manages to gain more ground on them, making their catapult useless as they are now too close to use it. The crew fires the ballista for a minor blow against the caravel. The caravel counters with a volley of arrows, but they thankfully all miss. Their ballista hits for a glancing blow, though, damaging some of the rigging. "Here comes that cog!" warns Cassie.
The Salty Dwarf The Salty Dwarf has far better luck evading its foe than the Blue Diamond does, for cogs are nowhere near as maneuverable as caravels are. Catching the wind, they manage to put another 100 yards between them and the cog, leaving them to try to catch up again.

The Bluemoon The caravel puts a little distance between itself and the Bluemoon, despite the Bluemoon's attempt to close the distance. Crossbows miss again, although Kalana is able to take out one of their marines. Their ballista bolt does some minor hull damage, as well. The caravel retaliates, but its arrows, catapult and ballista all fall short of their target.
The Blue Diamond The Blue Diamond manages to evade the oncoming cog, but the caravel is another story. It moves in closer, despite their best efforts in trying to escape it. They fire their ballista at the caravel, but miss. The caravel returns fire, but its arrows miss and while its light ballista hits the hull, it's not enough to do any damage to it.
The Salty Dwarf "Aye, capt'n, retreating now," says one of the crewmen. The Salty Dwarf puts even more distance between itself and the cog, keeping itself well out of firing range.
