Terani then begins to call out through prayer to Elonna, imploring her to bed then and come help purify the evil plaguing this grove.

April keeps singing--louder and louder, with more and more bardic energy flowing through each word. The melody burns in her heart, a song of praise, of sorrow, and pleading to her goddess.

April sings, while Terani searches the tree's blight for weak points and Kalinda cuts off some of the thicker black vines without harming the tree, and Poppy tries to urge them on. As the four work together, they feel a warmth begin to emit from the tree, beginning to drive away the coolness in the air around them. It's not over yet, but their process appears to be working for now.
==============
Round 01!
April makes a Performance check (1d20+5): 14+5 = 19, success. Terani makes a Perception check (1d20+3): 16+3 = 19, success. Kalinda makes a Survival check (1d20+2): 10+2 = 12, success. Poppy makes a Persuasion check (1d20+5): 4+5 = 9, fail.
Successes: 3/8 Failures: 1/4
(OOC: Note, a player may not make the same skill check more than once. Although other players may make the same checks. So since April did a Performance check in Round 01, she cannot use that skill again in subsequent rounds, although other PCs can do a Performance check at least once, as well.)

April, too, pleads to Elonna, whispering a liturgy in the name of her goddess, a liturgy of hope and purification.

Terani drops to his knees in prayer, feeling they were being listened to by Elonna, he calls to his friend "We are being hard, do not give in to fear or doubt in our deeds. By the grace of Elonna, we will restore this place to her blessing." With that he starts to recite praise and any phrases he recalled from those who tried to sanctify or hallow a place.

April's prayer changes in the opposite way from Terani's. She abandons the liturgies that she stumbled over and pleads with Elonna as if she was standing in front of her. Begging her to bring her power over this place and purify it.

As whatever they were doing was coming to an end, Poppy notices a huge piece of black pulsating bark and she tries to remove it with her knife, to allow the tree to breath again.

While Terani and April call to Elonna, begging and pleading for her aid, April attempts to cut away more of the blight (although accidentally cuts off some healthy bark in the process). Kalinda dumps out her waterskin on the tree, hoping to restore some of its health. But instead, the opposite happens. The black tendrils seem to suck up the water instead, growing stronger. The vines pulsate as they suck out the remaining nutrients in the sacred tree, until the entire thing just turns to stone, becoming completely petrified.
In a roundabout way, the party has succeeded at their task. The curse is lifted, but only because the grove itself is no more. Some comfort can be taken in the knowledge that eventually, nature will reclaim this island for itself. But whatever divine power that once filled this land is gone.

"Nooo..." Terani whispers as he watches the tree turn to stone. Taking a knee he lays a hand on the trunk and closes his eyes in silent prayer. When he opens them he says aloud "We failed to keep the presence of Elonna... This tree now should be a reminder to us. Of the beauty that we try to keep in the world."
