Never played it myself, but I'm familiar with it. I hear it's pretty trippy. "Trippy" is a good word for it, at least so far. It's not quite the psychological horror I was expecting based on the disclaimers. It's different, for reasons I won't get into without a Spoiler tag. When my friend Shepherd recommended it to me he said I'd like it because I liked Hatoful Boyfriend, and yeah, they are a lot alike (at least from what I've seen! I just got to the first 'trippy' bit, so there may yet be further twists). Funny enough my friend Becca recommended it to be because I liked Long Live the Queen, and my friend Charlotte recommended it because I like Madoka Magica - and yeah, it's a little bit like all three of those {Spoiler Doki Doki first ending}I got to the first, fake "ending" you get (after it drops you back to a fake title screen with the "new game" button messed up).
Saori killed herself, so she isn't in the "new" game.
I'm not sure if she still kills herself if you lavish her with attention. I was courting Yuri and I haven't started a real new game. It will be a variable I play with if I start a new game for real.
I'm guessing if I continue to court Yuri she'll murder me. It's been foreshadowed with that weird poem she writes about killing a raccoon, the way she reacts if you accidentally cut yourself with her knife, and how vehemently she denies identifying with a blood thirsty character in the "second" book she recommends. Edit: I have finished the game. I know I have finished the game, and reached the true ending, because when you reach the true ending the game uninstalls its self. So, there is that. It's not very long. It took me a little under five hours, not counting the breaks I took. Apparently the game won the "Defies Description" category for the 2017 Steam Awards, which seems about right. It's certainly different. It leaves me very glad there is a warning on the game that it shouldn't be played by anyone under age 13 or anyone who is easily disturbed.

I had a chance to discuss Doki Doki with some of my friends. {Spoiler Doki Doki Full Game}Apparently there *is* a way to get a good ending!
You have to play though the start of the game (before Saori's suicide - confirmed that she kills herself no matter what you do) three times, and get all of the cut scenes for all three girls. Then you play normally, get to the Monika ending, delete Monika.
When you play again Saori is the club president. If you haven't gotten all of the cut scenes, Saori will go nuts, thank you for killing Monika and try to kidnap you. If you have gotten all of the cut scenes she instead thanks you for all of the work you've put in trying to make everyone happy, even though it's sad that not everyone can be happy at the same time. Then you get to hear Monika play the piano during the end credits. With that done I've completely changed gears and have been playing the new BattleTech game I've not played one before. The lore is fascinating!

I recently got Xbox Live Gold+Gamepass, and I've been playing quite a few games on there.
For one thing, I got around to playing Fortnite, an extremely overrated battle royal shooter that everybody loves for some reason. My judgement: pretty good. I don't think it deserves all the hype it's getting, but it is a good game. I expected myself to hate it, but I enjoyed the matches I played.
Sea of Thieves, which I had been really excited for, turned out to be really confusing and underwhelming. First, I wasn't fond of the first person perspective. That, combined with the floaty movement and minimal walking sound, made I feel like I was clumsily gliding everywhere. Second, my experience with sailing was not pleasant. Twice, my supposed crewmates sailed off without me, and when I sailed alone, my schooner capsized. I'd probably enjoy it more if I had more friends with an Xbox that I'm comfortable hearing the voices of. (Right now, the grand total is zero)
I've also been playing a lot of Sonic CD and Sonic & Knuckles. They also come with Gamepass, by the way. The latter I had never played before, and was eager to try it; the former, I had played on mobile, but I find that I'm better at playing Classic Sonic with a controller. Also, no ads.
Finally, I got to play Street Fighter II on the arcade machine at the Youth Retreat I went on last weekend. That was fun.

I've mostly just been focused on finishing Icewind Dale so I can start on Pillars of Eternity II. I really enjoyed the first one, but it took me an entire year to finish the core game, so I want to make sure I have a clean plate so this one won't take as long to finish.
I'm hoping to not just play the game, but mine it for story ideas for my Octhanian campaign, as both take place around a series of tropical islands.

Currently downloading 'Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire' from Obsidian Games. The PoE franchise is a spiritual successor to the old Black Isle games (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, etc.). In fact, many of the members of Obsidian used to work at Black Isle before it went under. The whole thing is basically D&D with the serial numbers filed off. Right down to the races and classes (although some of the names are different: chanters instead of bards, ciphers instead of psions, orlans instead of halflings/gnomes, godlikes instead of genasi, etc.).
I was a big fan of the original game. I played a human priest of Eothas, a god that had been killed prior to the game's start. It was an interesting experience, playing a follower of a dead god. That concept alone sold me on this game. I'm looking forward to pulling him out of retirement.
It'll be a couple more hours before the game finishes downloading and then installing. Can't wait!

One feature of PoE is you can custom make your own party members, if you want. I had a couple of empty slots left in my party, so went ahead and made some characters to fill out the party, until I recruit enough companions to take their place.
I made Mathias, a dwarf swashbuckler (fighter/thief). He mostly stays in the back using his pistol, and is also my trap disarmer and lockpicker.
I also made Johannes, a human fury druid that I mostly use as a AoE damage dealer (fury druids lose healing but gain a bonus to elemental spells and instead of shapeshifting into an animal, can transform into a storm elemental). I realize that's probably a bit backwards (so far Gravity has played him more as a healing type), but I already had two healing clerics in my party.
I wanted to make Kalana, but already have a fighter. Senlipp is kind of redundant with Mathias, Jaeron was redundant with the two clerics I already have, and Arieal couldn't accurately be made as there are no air genasi (just fire, death, nature and moon). But once I have some more coin, I might go ahead and create them all anyway, just for fun, as I rotate party members around.

Snacs is roping me into playing Dauntless, which is kind of like if Monster Hunter was aimed at Western audiences - with all the quality of life improvements that entails.

Having never played Monster Hunter or any variation of it, but based on my knowledge of East vs. West gameplay mechanics, I'm guessing that means Dauntless won't have a massive grind and a drop rate of 0.4%?

Okay...I was not expecting that. Where does this one take place? Elsweyr? Hammerfell? High Rock? Can't really tell. (Also, has it really been 7 years since Skyrim was released? Geez.)

Oooooohhhhh...my favorite Resident Evil. Color me interested (NWFW: Gore, violence, swearing). Also, wow, 20 years old.

I saw those; I'm SUPER HYPED! Bayonetta being in it was a bit of a disappointment, but the return of the Ice Climbers makes up for it! The new FE also looks awesome, though I hope it's closer to Radiant Dawn than Fates in terms of the potential "Three Houses" mechanic...

Funny story. Snacs was so excited to tell me that Ridly was going to be in Smash.... ... for some reason I thought he said that Ripley was going to be in Smash and this seemed totally reasonable to me (after all, Snake and Cloud are both in it!) until I actually had an opportunity to watch the trailer myself.

...Why is it reasonable? Smash Bros only allows characters who debut/primarily feature in video games.

Ridley was named after Ripley, though, so I can see how you'd make that mistake.
But yeah, the new Smash is going to contain every character from every previous Smash game, even DLC characters. Including the new characters like Inkling and Ridley, that puts the roster at a whopping 65.
It comes out this December, too.
