Bloody Spears Lair 1F (Ladonna, Ryan, Katya, Finbul) The four remaining behind watch as the platform descends into the darkness, outside the range of the light stone that Ryan is now holding. Finbul keeps looking behind them, toward where the goblins were left, making sure they aren't about to attack again. After about a minute, the mechanism ceases movement.
Bloody Spears Lair 2F (Theron, Jherek, Lillian, Garnet, Ingot) The remarkable conveyance slowly lowers the intrepid band into the darkness of the shaft. The air is becoming stale and the temperature grows cooler. After descending a few feet, the platform begins to dangle in open air; a descent of around 15 more feet brings them level with a stone floor in an octagonal chamber, about 30 feet across, with a passage heading eastward. The peculiar grooves are again carved into the passage floor. All is silent.
"There appears to be...another floor...beneath us," Ingot comments. "Shall I continue...or stop here?"

Katya spends her minute - and whatever other time they have - resting against the rough stone wall of the mine. The break to catch her breath was making her feel better. Or maybe Garnet's magic just took a while to fully take affect? She still feels worn, but her legs are more firmly beneath her.
She breaks the silence by commenting "I admit, this doesn't feel anything like the stories they tell during the festival." She sighs and adjusts her position against the wall. "Maybe that's why my mom doesn't like talking about the Battle of Buho. I don't feel brave. I mostly feel tired and worried."

"Those are just stories that they tell the younger generations, stories in which get more elaborate as time moves forward," Ladonna says. "It is easy to sound brave in a story, but the reality of the situation is much different. I'm sure our hero was probably scared out of his mind. Even my father was probably scared out of his mind, but he would never admit to that."

As soon as the conveyance begins to move, Theron's recurring nausea returns and hits him full-force. He's instantly doubled over, and before they've made it even halfway to the next floor, he's retching over the side of the platform.
"Urk!" he grunts inarticulately, as he attempts to respond to Ingot's question. "Stop...please...let's stop here." Theron staggers off the platform, no longer vomiting but still struggling to regain his composure. As he does so, he stares down at the floor and studies the strange groove marks closely. (OOC: How much noise did the platform make as it was moving?)

Jherek's eyes flash concern as he moves to console his sick friend. "Mouse, I know that my toast was a little underdone...but brother it was bread and cheese!" He places a reassuring hand on Theronymous' shoulder while giving the room in front of them a proper once over.
His first cursory sweep of the room is room is followed by the poking and prodding of a man who recently fell into a pit, breaking a rib and puncturing a lung, he seems to search in earnest.
Jherek signals for the others to continue get off the platform waving them forward and readying his weapons. He gives a listen, hoping that he can hear over the sounds of the moving platform and his retching friend.

Katya is no less wary of letting Ryan touch her than Ladonna had been, but manages to mutter "thank you, Acolyte" when he heals her. She inches away the moment he is done.
"Does your father talk about the battle often, Ladonna?" Normally she's comfortable in silence, but this particular group sets her teeth on edge so she finds herself encouraging conversation in an attempt to pass the time.

Bloody Spears Lair 1F (Ladonna, Ryan, Katya, Finbul)Ryan uses up the last of his healing on himself and Katya. His own wounds heal completely, but he is still left feeling very nauseated for some reason. The spell he uses on Katya is less effective. It heals the minor wound she took completely, but the larger one that nearly killed her is left untouched. Afterward, noises start to echo down to them from the south. It sounds like groaning. The goblins are waking up. ============= Ryan casts Cure Light Wounds on himself, restoring (1d8): 5 HP. Ryan is now fully healed.Ryan casts Cure Light Wounds on Katya, restoring (1d8): 2 HP. Katya improves to moderately wounded. Bloody Spears Lair 2F (Theron, Jherek, Lillian, Garnet, Ingot)Ingot uses the break lever to lock the platform into place. It makes a rather audible clicking noise, which seems to echo down the hall before them. The winch itself, which lowered them down, was fairly noisy, as well. Theron inspects the groove marks closely after emptying his stomach. They look exactly like the ones on the first floor. If he were to guess, they once held rails for use with mining carts, but the rails themselves have since been removed. "Shall I...retrieve the others?" asks Ingot, still in the dark, literally. The others can see fine, though, and inspect the room. It's deathly silent now, and it looks like the eastward corridor extends some way. Jherek inspects the room for traps, but finds nothing that catches his eye. He then tries to listen down the corridor, but doesn't hear anything but silence. =========== Jherek spends (1d10): 1 round searching for traps [F/RT -5%] (1d100): 37, fail. He finds no traps. nE06OOM01d10Jherek listens down the hallway [DN 5%] (1d100): 76, fail. He hears nothing. 1d10

"He used to explain the art, if you wish to call it that, of battle to me a lot," Ladonna says thoughtfully as she thinks of her father. "He was the one that gave me lessons on how to use my staff, so he had a lot of lessons to impart on me. He doesn't really talk to me much at all now though," she admits. Her brow furrows a bit as she clearly isn't pleased with the development of her father not really speaking to her anymore.
Ladonna glances at Ryan after he is done healing himself and Katya. "You are looking a little pale," she points out. "And did you guys hear that?" she asks as she turns her head towards the sounds of the goblins waking up. "It seems as if they are up."

"Shall I...retrieve the others?" asks Ingot, still in the dark, literally.
"Yes," Theron says quietly. "We'll be waiting here for your return."
Seeing Jherek scanning for threats with his eyes and ears, Theron decides to do likewise. He walks about fifteen feet to the east, to improve his odds of hearing anything over the steady creaking of the winch, then surveys their environment both aurally and visually.

"I heard it" Katya responds.
"Give them a chance to flee. If we need to fight them again-" Katya takes her shield from her back, though she doesn't move to a defensive position.
It occurs to her briefly that if they put out the light they might be able to hide, but that would be foolish. The goblins can all see in the dark. Everyone gathered here cannot.

Bloody Spears Lair 1F (Ladonna, Ryan, Katya, Finbul) The winch begins loudly turning again, as the platform begins raising up. About a minute later, the platform returns, but only with Ingot. "Is everyone...alright? It appears to be safe...below. At least...so far."
The goblins, now awake, can be heard arguing in their own language. Their voices echo down the hall. Surely they must see the bright light of Ryan's stone, but so far, they make no move to attack.
Bloody Spears Lair 2F (Theron, Jherek, Lillian, Garnet, Ingot) Ingot nods and starts up the platform again, this time ascending back up to the first floor. The noise of the machine reverberates and echoes down the hall.
Theron repeats Jherek's actions, searching for traps (much more thoroughly) and trying to listen down the hall. Like Jherek, however, he doesn't find or hear anything. The room seems clear, and if there is anything down the hall, it is being very quiet right now.

"I wonder if they are arguing about the baby," Ladonna muses. Their arguing reminds her of how they started arguing over the baby.

"Either way get on the platform, we have to go."
Katya tries to hurry the others to Ingot, keeping her shield (and her body behind that) between them and the goblins the whole time. She will be the last person on.
