Mathias makes a disgusted face as the all-encompassing mass of purple fungus is revealed. Turning to face Johannes, he asks, "Ever seen anythin' like that before?"
After waiting a moment for the druid's response, he turns towards the aperture leading down into the ship and bellows, "Anybody home?!" He remains still, save to exchange a tentative glance with the others.

Johannes closely and carefully examines the moss, racking his brain for information about something like it.
[OOC: Should I make a roll of some sort?]

Jaeron "Quite odd indeed. I wouldn't suggest anyone go touching the strange moss." the gnome adds staying back on the stairs and not entering the below decks area just observing from a 'safe' distance near the door.

Mathias calls out, but the only answer is silence.
Johannes examines the moss. As a sea druid, this is a little outside of his wheelhouse. But from what he can tell, the fungus is most likely a subterranean breed. In fact, he notices that it seems to be withdrawing a bit from Jaeron's light spell. Actual sunlight might even destroy it. Which begs the question, how in the world did it wind up here in the first place?

"I'm not willing to touch it," Kalana admits. "But I think this is the only place we haven't checked, so any ideas?" she asks.

"Well, I suspect that if we can expose it to sunlight, we'll be able to destroy it," Johannes explains.

Jaeron "Well unless someone else has a spell similar to mine only way I figure we can expose it to sunlight is by opening the deck topside however we can."

Mathias strokes his beard for a full minute before contributing, "...what about a torch? Did anyone think to bring one? I don't like the idea of tearin' up the deck...might encourage this fungus-stuff to start spurtin' out spores."

Jaeron shakes his head "I've so much stuff i leave most of it in my quarters otherwise I'd look like a pack mule. Besides i use a lantern not torches."

“Actually,” Johannes thinks aloud. “I may know a spell that could help, but I don’t have it prepared, and I won't be able to do so until next morning.”

"I didn't think to bring a torch," Kalana admits. "And I'm not sure we have the time to wait around for you to memorize a spell," she adds to Johannes. "I have a couple of suggestions. I could try shooting this fungus to see what it does," she says. "Or a few of us can return to the ship to get the supplies that we need to deal with this."

"I'm willing to go back," Johannes volunteers. "I'm good at moving though the water."

As the group stands around talking about the situation, they hear something from down below. It sounds like a person, groaning in terrible agony. It is getting louder by the second.

"All right. We don't have a choice at this point," Kalana says. She decides to brave the fungus, and goes into the dark room. "Hello?" she calls out.

"Kalana! Wait!" Mathias shouts out after her. Mumbling curses under his breath, he scurries after her into the fungus-filled ship.
