"I can lead you there, sure," the goblin says. "But if I'm going to betray my own people, I'll need coin to start a new life elsewhere, beyond the reach of Klarg and Grol."
"How much?" asks Iroas, raising a brow.
"Five gold should be enough."
Iroas looks to the others. "If each of us pitches in one coin, that should be easy enough."

"Fine by me," Fsco agrees wholeheartedly. He gets out two gold pieces from his belt pouch.

"...Very well," Orianna says as she digs out the money.

Djandaar just stands there at the beginning of the goblin tracks, tapping his heavy, reptilian foot impatiently and deliberately not looking at the others.

Iroas waves away the gold offered by the two. "Not yet. You'll receive your payment once we arrive at the lair. I am a priest of Ilmater, so you can know I'll keep my word on this," he adds, pulling out his holy icon to dangle before the goblin. "Agreed?"
"Alright, deal," the goblin replies. Iroas unties her and hands the rope back to Orianna. "Should I lead the way?" she asks. "Or does your big lizard friend want to?"

"My lizard friend?" Orianna asks. "I'm not really sure he is friends with anyone, to be honest," she admits as she puts her gold away. "I'm of the opinion that you take the lead."

"I'm in agreement," Fosco chimes in.

Djandaar watches in silence as the others free their prisoner from her restraints. He remains motionless until the others have all filed passed him, then takes up the rear of the group following well behind Fosco and Orianna.

The party follows the trail northwest for about 10 minutes before the goblin calls for them to halt. "Wait," she warns. Stepping forward a bit, she gently brushes some dead leaves on the road aside, revealing a hidden snare. "You might want to step around this."

"How many traps does your group have set up?" Orianna asks.

"One more," the goblin answers. About ten minutes later, she stops the party again, this time revealing a hidden pit in the trail, six feet wide and ten feet deep. "Would have taken a nasty tumble were it not for me, right? See, I'm well worth the gold already."

"Maybe," Orianna says. "But I probably could have found these traps myself," she admits.

As the group follows the tracks, Djandaar glares at the back of their guide's head with a baleful look. Even after she points out the snare and the pit trap, he continues to give the goblin the evil eye. "I don't trust this goblin," he says to Kalli in a sibilant whisper. "She's too cheerful for someone who just saw her brethren slaughtered. I think she's got something planned. Keep an eye out."

"But would you have even thought to look for them if I hadn't said anything?" the goblin asks.
Continuing to follow the goblins' trail, the party come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.
"Well, there it is," the goblin says. "My job is done. I'll be taking that payment now."

"Of course I would have thought to look," Orianna says with a shake of her head. She looks at the entrance to the cave in suspicion.
