In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagon load of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he'd pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Haliwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to 'take care of business.'
You've spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you've just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You've encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.
The wagon you're driving is being pulled by two, sturdy oxen. The wagon is packed full of an assortment of mining supplies and food. This includes a dozen sacks of flour, several casks of salted pork, two kegs of strong ale, shovels, picks, and crowbars (about a dozen each), and five lanterns with a small barrel of oil (about fifty flasks in volume).
================
(OOC: It is Ches 8th, the Eighth Day of First Tenday, in the year 1481 DR, at 10 AM.
You should decide on your marching order. Also, whether you are riding in the wagon or walking alongside it, behind it, or ahead of it. At least one of you needs to be driving it by sitting up front.
Take this time to interact with each other a bit, as well.)

Fosco, having put his backpack in the wagon, drives it, utilizing his experience with animals to help drive the oxen.
"So, Iroas," he ask his acquaintance. "What do make of this job?"

After a few brief moments spent sizing up his fellow caravan guards, Djandaar's ensuing sneer clearly communicated that he doesn't think much of the crew he finds himself stuck with. He's barely spoken a word to any of them since then, apart from laconically volunteering to walk ahead of the wagon to keep an eye out for trouble. The dragonborn seems to be intentionally keeping his distance from the others, now -- he remains just close enough to the wagon that he can overhear the inane banter being exchanged between the peasant halfling and the Ilmaterite. He seems to be ignoring them as he marches forward at a steady, leisurely pace, his head held high and saurian eyes ceaselessly scanning the environment.

Orianna walks on the left side of the wagon. She has already looked over her crew, and felt they were pretty much an okay group (aside from the snooty dragonborn walking ahead of them). "Judging from the mining equipment, I'm going to say they going to be digging for valuables," she chimes in with the conversation.

Walking on the right side of the wagon, Iroas answers, "Simple and honest work. Although I'm more interested in the destination than the journey itself. Phandalin is on the frontier, so there are likely many people there who will need our help. Plenty of work for all, I'm sure." "Sounds about right. I've known the Rockseeker brothers for years now. Gundren, Tharden, and Nundro are always coming up with wild schemes to delve for lost treasure. Most of the time, they turn up nothing. But you can't deny them their enthusiasm. Nothing ever discourages them for long. I'm sure they'll find that motherlode they've been searching for some day," he says with a chuckle. In his early thirties, Iroas Silvereye is the oldest one of the group. He is a tall, muscular man with pale skin, and dark brown hair. His eyes are hazel and he has a beard that has been growing since they started this journey. He proudly wears the red and grey vestments of Ilmater over his chain mail.

Kalli moves around in the order, left to right and back again, mostly behind the wagon. During one of the moments with the other Thiefling, she asks, "What do you make of the dragon one?"

Orianna's lips twitch slightly as she forces a smile up at Iroas. No one could possibly as good natured as Iroas seemed to be. She turns her attention to the other tiefing in the group, and glances at Djandaar when he is mentioned to her. "He's quiet and apparently keeps to himself," she says as she takes a step closer to Kalli. "But with the way he carries himself, I would say he is snooty and way too full of himself. He looked over all of us with annoyed disgusted."

As the group lapses into silence, Iroas breaks it with a question loud enough for them all to hear. "So, what will you do first once we reach Phandalin? I mean, after we drop off our cargo, that is."

Djandaar, apparently bored enough to deign to respond to the priest, turns his head and says, "I'll be collecting the paltry sum our paymaster is offering, then returning to Neverwinter straightaway to find more work -- work more suited to my talents, hopefully. I do not expect a dustheap like Phandalin offers any diversions worthy of my time."

"Much like our friend over there," Orianna says, motioning over to the dragonborn. "I'm going to be looking for more work. I figured since this is sort of a frontier city, from my understanding, that they are probably going to have a lot of work open for people like us."

"Ah...I suppose not," Iroas admits awkwardly.
"I was thinking along the same lines. Big cities have more people, but often law enforcement and other agencies to meet the needs of the people. But smaller places, out away from civilization, don't have those luxuries to depend on."

"The answers I seek are not in Neverwinter. At least the answers I seek now." Kalli says

"Yes, if you are searching for answers, perhaps we can help you find them," Iroas offers. "We're a fairly diverse group with unique experiences and pasts, after all. We might have insight you are lacking."
