The three step inside the constable's office and approach the front desk. A human woman mans the station, and looks up at their approach. "What's this all about then?" she asks, noting that the half-elf's hands are tied behind him.
Jaeron Dernfog (Temple of Obedience)
Samwen nods. "I just wish I was doing a better job at running this temple. I feel like my whole life has been preparing me for this, and now I'm failing at it."

Jaeron "Well you are doing what you can with what you have. I've tried to aid the cause. Renovations might help. But how about preaching in public have you given the old soap box method a try? I'd suggest feeding the poor or homeless but not exactly sure you have funding to do so. I don't see it as failure, merely just a crossroads and you need to figure out which way to go now. You're faith and devotion tells me you are not failing just hard times is all." the gnome smiles and tries to help Samwen see that it is not a failure.

The guard looks between the two of them. "So did either of you witness this crime then?"

"Oh, I tried that once. Preaching in public, I mean," Samwen says. "It took several baths to get the smell of rotten egg out of my hair. Really now, who walks around carrying rotten eggs just in case someone says something unpopular?" he asks rhetorically.

Jaeron smiles "Well that is one of the things I never understood either. Others preach and shout their cause or missions in public. Why throw food at anyone we all have a right to free speech or so I would think. At any rate I think you are doing the best you can in the situation you are in. Perhaps if you can find a way to help out others publicly it might help draw folks in." the gnome adds hopefully and then wrinkles his nose at the thought of rotten egg smell "That is a terrible thing throwing rotten egg one someone."

Perhaps I could start some kind of business...something that the people of Tu'Valie would need, but isn't already provided by another. That way, I can not only make money, but nobody can easily ignore me, either."

Jaeron smiles "Yes now see that is the spirit. Don't let life get you down. Now the question is what does the area not have that you are good at and could provide services for, that is the true question. One other thing whatever business you create you can always sneak in teachings of Gonto in everyday conversation. Who knows what could come of that might bring in some followers."

"The other issue is that of money," Samwen says. "Every idea I come up with is thwarted by the fact that I need capital to get it started. I suppose that is what they mean when they say one needs to spend money to make money. Perhaps I can send a letter to headquarters in Vaneil and ask for a loan. As long as I don't fail at the business...as I'll wind up in debtor's prison. Well, I'll just have to have faith that I am following Gonto's will."

Jaeron perks up a bit "you know you could write that letter but might you also get a job perhaps locally? Maybe the library or shope that is binding my book is looking. Perhaps consider that as a viable means to make some coin to help further the temple."

Samwen nods in agreement. "That's a great idea. Perhaps I should do both. Ask for the loan, and get a job. That way, if things do go poorly, the job will help me pay off the loan regardless. And it's not like I'm getting much done just sitting in an empty temple all day. Industry is one of Gonto's virtues, after all. I should be doing something with my time."

Jaeron feels better knowing that the ones down Samwen is back in good spirits "I am glad to have helped cheer you up Samwen and glad to help give you support and ideas you are right sitting in an empty temple is not a good use of your talents and time. Both of those plans would do you good I think."
