"It is better to die honourably in battle if that is the choice one makes for oneself, friend Krah, but in civilized lands, when a warrior surrenders, then we are bound to respect that choice. Remember, Tempus is not Garagos - he does not seek slaughter for its own sake. As long as the warrior does not raise his hand against us again, he is protected by custom and law. And since the goblin surrendered, she clearly did not share your conviction that death in battle is always preferable."

Krah drops down into a sitting position on the cold ground, exhausted. He takes a few moments to catch his breath, listening and watching the argument before him play out with puzzlement. "I do not understand. It is better to die in battle than surrender your freedom to another, yes?" Drezden "You did no wrong by me some priests are just odd. You did nothing different than I would have done. The thing only surrendered because goblins tend to be cowardly when they don't have the advantage. Otherwise they kill without mercy and always do evil to good folk. It got what it deserved no matter what others may say or think. Be like taking a demon that surrenders at it's word. Though the thing may have been correct in telling us about the orcs. We should keep that in mind if our employer will let us see how true it is the orcs may well be on the same route we are."

"Civilized lands?" repeats Krah. He gestures to the wilderness around them. "There is no law or custom here. Only survival. The strong thrive and the weak perish. Such is the way of things here." Getting back up to his feet, he shrugs. "Anyway, what is done is done and cannot be undone. Let us collect the loot and return to Peddywinkle, yes?"

Malavar shrugs in response. "To live in barbarism is a choice - civilization exists wherever men make it so. The simple fact that we are escorting a caravan to towns willing to trade and uphold the rule of law in the wilderness puts a lie to the tale that nothing but brute force has value in these lands. But let us speak no more of this - I can tell that my words will not sway any of you from the paths you have chosen. I will help you gather the arms and armour of the fallen."
OOC: By which I mean to loot all the goblins. Their weapons, armour and incidental objects of value should at least have some resale value. Though perhaps not the goblins' hide armour...

Drezden "Well put Krah, I'm a dwarf of the woods by choice, some places just don't make sense to me. We're in the wild now these goblins would have done far worse if we were in their place. I for one don't plan to be eaten by a orc, goblin or ogre. Now lets not forget the stuff I found in the wagons these goblins stole."

Searching the dead goblins, Malavar finds the following: Two suits of small sized chain mail, four suits of small sized hide armor, five short swords, a dagger, a short bow, and 10 flight arrows.
The treasure that Drezden found can be valued with an appraising check, except for the two potions which would need a spellcraft check and the arcane scroll which will need a Read Magic spell.

"Perhaps not the best workmanship," Malavar says, casting a critical eye on the weapons and armour they've recovered, "but everything but the hides can probably be sold for a little extra profit if we clean them up a little first."
OOC: Just roleplaying this. I assume that given his skills as an armourer and weaponsmith, Malavar can at least make a general judgement call on the immediately perceptible workmanship of weapons and armour.

From what Malavar can tell, the equipment of the goblins is of average quality. Jaxle appraises the rabbit pelts, but has no idea what the scrimshaw and ring might be worth.
All three wagons are in disrepair. The first one has the wheels torn off, the second one has some of the floor boards pried up, and the third one is completely destroyed.
==========
Jaxle appraises the rabbit pelts (1d20): 9, pass. He believes they are worth 20 gold pieces altogether.
XnISh5401d20 Jaxle appraises the scrimshaw (1d20): 14, fail. He does not know their value. 1d20 Jaxle appraises the silver ring (1d20): 20, fail. He does not know its value. 1d20

Dallion paces around his sword in hand checking for other threats. He nods in agreement with the dwarf.

Drezden "I'd say carry what we can these goblins made the wagons in worse shape than we are after that ogre battle. Unless someone wants to sit around trying to get one wagon operational even then we don't have anything to really pull it. But we should get back before it gets darker."

"Agreed," Krah says. The party gathers up the loot that they wish to bring back with them, and makes their way back to the campsite.
Upon arriving, they find the camp is undisturbed and the others are waiting for them. "How did it go?" asks Taska. "You all look in one piece," she observes. "Although that looks like a nasty bruise," she adds, pointing out Malavar.

(OOC: Make sure to specify exactly what you are bringing back to camp.)

"Aye, Captain, I sidestepped the ogre's fist when I should have ducked," Malavar replies sheepishly. "But Tempus willing, I shall be right as rain soon enough." Grasping his holy symbol, he mutters a brief prayer to Tempus to ask for healing magic.

"Master Peddywinkle, Drezden recovered a small trove of treasure from the wagons the goblins had seized, and we also have their weapons and armour. You are an experienced merchant - perhaps you could estimate what these items might be sold for once we reach Targos?"
OOC: Malavar brings with him all of the armour and weapons the goblins had except for the hides. The chain mail can't be worn by anyone in the caravan, but if anyone is lacking a weapon and wants a goblin sword, bow or dagger, Malavar has no problems with that. Otherwise, he thinks we should sell them off when we get to Targos.

Jaxle brings what anyone is not able to carry. Jaxle tosses the boy a goblin dagger. Take this if you do not have one.

Drezden if able to carry it grabs the pets and scrimshaw. "We brought what we could carry the goblins and ogres did a number on 3 wagons so we had no other way to get the cargo back here other than carry it."
