"Krah... An interesting name. You may have the use of my warhammer for this encounter. You know how to use one, I assume?"

Krah nods. "I have some skill with the warhammer, yes."
"If not me, then, who will be the one to go with you?" Dell asks, looking over to Taska, Jaxle and Dallion--none of whom have volunteered yet.

"Excellent! Then our war party is assembled. Shall we be on our way?" Drezden "Yes lets be off." the dwarf leaves his pack on the wagon and takes only his crossbow and sword along with his bolt case.

"Indeed. And hurry back," Peddywinkle says. "If you have not returned by sunrise, we will be forced to leave without you."
"I can lead the way," Krah offers. "It is not far."
Drezden, Dallion and Malavar follow after the frost man, westward. The air is particularly chill this night, although perhaps it's just the strange cold aura exuding off of Krah that makes it seem that way. The light of the stars and a crescent of Selune above help light the way, but the dwarf, elf and half-elf can see just fine in the dark anyway. After about half an hour of walking, they crest a hill and can see the light of a fire a short distance away. Krah makes a silent hand gesture for them to crouch low, to avoid being seen.
The camp is fairly small. There are four goblins present, and a single bugbear. They are cooking the remains of what appears to be a massive silver wolf, perhaps 10 or 12 feet in size. Krah tenses considerably at the sight of this, and begins breathing heavily, as if trying to calm himself down from a murderous rage. None of the goblins seem to be on guard, but are rather in a celebratory mood after their victory. There is much laughter and commotion among them.

So much for the element of surprise, Malavar sighs inwardly. Drawing forth a tiny vial of holy water from his pouch, he pours the contents over his holy symbol and intones a brief prayer to Tempus: "Foehammer! Strengthen our arms and let the joy of battle fill our hearts, that we may drive our enemies before us."
OOC: Malavar casts bless (seems more appropriate for Tempus than curse), centred on himself. Casting time is 1 round, so it should take effect at the end of this round, after all other actions are completed.

Unable to contain himself, Krah gives a scream of rage as he gives into his uncontrollable anger. One of the goblins is completely caught off-guard, but the others and the bugbear are more alert. Grabbing their weapons, they start charging toward the party. Drezden, however, puts a crossbow bolt into the eye of the surprised one, eliminating the goblins' marginal advantage in numbers.
Malavar and Dallion both begin chanting; the former a prayer to his god, Tempus, and the latter in the spidery language of magic. When Dallion finishes, arcane energies cackle around his body, forming an invisible and intangible armor around his body. When Malavar finishes, the entire party feels the presence of Tempus among them, bolstering their courage and strength. Their spells are completed just as the goblins are about to rush them.

His body and soul fortified by the blessings of Tempus, Malavar moves to put himself between Drezden and the bugbear, grips his spear firmly with both hands and sets himself to receive the charge that is surely coming.
OOC: Malavar moves northwest to the hex directly above Drezden. He's using his spear with both hands and setting to receive a charge. According to the Complete Fighter's Handbook, this lets him do double damage if charged. Using the spear two-handed further reduces its speed factor to 3, and according to the PHB being set to receive a chagre nets him another -2 to his initiative.

Attack with spear: 1d20+4
Damage vs. goblin: 1d8+6; doubled if being charged
Damage vs. bugbear: 2d6+5; doubled if being charged

Malavar sets his spear just as the first of the goblins is upon him. She stabs wildly with her short sword at the half-elf, but not only misses, she is unable to avoid running right into the spear. It skewers her entirely, and her body goes limp, dropping her sword to the ground.
Reloading his crossbow, Drezden nails the other female goblin in the throat, dropping her instantly, as well.
The final goblin, seeking to avenge his fallen brother and sisters, charges right at the frost man and stabs Krah lightly with his sword. But Krah is in such a rage, he doesn't seem to even feel it. Dallion swoops in with a slash of his blade, which just barely skirts off the goblin's armor, failing to draw blood. Krah, however, slams Malavar's war hammer into the goblin's head with such force, it drops him dead to the ground.
This leaves the bugbear, who learning from the goblins' mistake, moves in at a more reasonable pace and then swings his axe at Malavar. The cleric just barely sidesteps, feeling the whoosh of air as the axe narrowly passes by his ear.
