Grognak gives a grunt of approval when Dorias lends him a spell as he warms up for the battle ahead.

"No, although magic can be unpredictable at times," the ogre replies. "So I'd suggest you all stay on your toes. While accidental death isn't guaranteed, it certainly is possible." Randomly reaching into her pouches, Teakettle pulls out a dried out inkwell. She's not sure where or when she picked that up. Maybe someone dropped it into her pouches.
At that point, the announcer introduces them and the portcullis rises to let them into the arena. Right away, they can see it is snowing today. Fortunately, it is light enough to not really affect combat or even stick to the ground just yet.
============= Dorias casts Enlarge on Runt (50% increase to damage and size) for 25 rounds.
Dorias casts Enlarge on Grognak (50% increase to damage and size) for 25 rounds.
Dorias casts Strength on himself (STR 18/30, +1 hit/+3 dmg) for 5 hours. Teakettle searches her pouches randomly. She pulls out a dried inkwell.

"We don't have a lot of time," Ravarie says as she enters the arena with the rest of the group. She takes note of the snow, but realizes she isn't really able to use that to her advantage at all. "We'll need to go after the spell casters first."

"Uh huh" Teakettlea agrees absentmindedly with Ravarie while she studiously inspects the inkwell for whatever tactical advantage it might offer.

"Mm. Dislike the cold without wine. Lucky it doesn't stick yes?" Runt comments on the weather cheerfully in his deep, booming voice(magnified even further by his greater size), despite his stubby tail twitching and slowly blinking his eyes in disagreement at the cold wind brushing his scales. He was hungry for booze, but the warmth that spread across his shoulders as he tested the pull on his bow would have to do. Besides, maybe he'd be lucky and one of their opponents would be stupid enough to bring a drink on to the battlefield rather than drink it beforehand.
He placed his feet shoulder apart and pulled and arrow out, setting it where it could be quickly sent flying out once the battle was joined.

"I admit I'm somewhat surprised that Bulbos would bother staging a fight when it's snowing. Even if we can see tolerably well, I doubt the punters will have as clear a view of the proceedings. One wonders why they'd pay good money to watch a fight when there's a good chance they'll be missing a fair bit of the action," Dorias says. "Still - ogres, eh?"
Like Runt, Dorias decides to begin the combat with bow and arrow in hand, hoping to get a clear shot at one or the other of their opponents' spellcasters. He thrusts his sword into the ground in front and leans his shield against it to allow him to equip both in a hurry.

As the party makes their preparations, the portcullis on the other end of the arena lifts, and four people step out. The first two are draconians; one is a Baaz, like Runt while the other is a Bozak. Unlike Baaz, Bozaks have bronze colored scales and their wings are larger. The Baaz wields a long sword, while the Bozak has a short sword and long bow.
The other two who emerge are quite mammalian. One looks like a half-elf; a handsome, if skinny young man in dashing attire. He wears no armor and only carries daggers on his belt. The other is quite the contrast. He's large, bestial and very muscular; at least 7 feet tall with sharp claws and fangs. The Baaz stands protectively in front of the Bozak, while the bestial man stands in front of the smaller half-elf. The party has about a minute to discuss strategy before the match will begin.
==============
(OOC: Each hex is about 5 feet. B = Baaz, b - Baaz, H = Large humanoid, h = half-elf. Note both Runt and Grognak are now L-sized, and so take up two hexes.)

At the sight of a fellow Baaz he straightens, and his wings snap irritably at the sight of the Bozak behind it.
"Mnn. Do not waste spells on those two, might bounce off yes?" He mutters in a rumble too low to carry to their opponents."That one-"He nods towards the Bozak."Probably casts, probably a jerk."He says something else in Draconian after 'jerk' that explains exactly his feelings for the other breed of Draconian, and it is not a flattering noise. He pulls a bead on the Bozak for now with his bow while he waits, grumbling to himself.
"Mm.Mmm! Do not kill that one up close. Will explode."He mimics the sound of an explosion and chuckles to himself as if remembering something fondly.

“Which Beastfriend think wizard?” Grognak asks Ravarie. “Go for magician first.”

"The pretty one is a magic user," Ravarie says to Grognak. "I can probably keep the bronze draconian busy with insects again so he won't be able to cast," she offers. "After I give all of you the Blue Phoenix's blessing."

"Got it!" Teakettle agrees with Runt and Ravarie. "Two spell casters with two body guards. We going to dogpile one or divine and conquer?"

"Ignore the bodyguards for now. They're outnumbered - I doubt they'll begin by attacking us straight away, they're more likely to remain in place and shield their spellcasting friends. I suggest Runt and I try to bring down one of the spellcasters with our bows, then we'll see how they react. Grognak can shield lady Ravarie and Teakettle can be Teakettle...but perhaps hold off on taunting our foes until Runt and I have gotten a few shots off? Your hoopak can shoot sling stones, no? Perhaps you'd like to take a few potshots yourself?"
