It is Bludsin 15th, and each new day brings us a bit closer to spring. Not that winter is much of a matter in the tropics; snow is all but a myth and what passes for 'cold weather' would be considered still pretty warm by anyone else in the world. It is currently early morning and the sky is overcast, suggesting rain may soon arrive.
Enott is a small harbor town on the island of Draska. It isn't of much importance, but does get frequented by pirates, slavers and smugglers quite often--usually to resupply before entering the open sea again.
(OOC: Casters may choose new spells for the day.)
Kalana, Senllip, Jaeron and Johannas (Aboard the Blackmoon) After six long days, the island of Draska comes into view. The crew did what they could to ration supplies, but they ran out of water the day before--although they still have 12 pounds of food left. The ship pulls up to the docks and drops anchor, and the party stands on the upper deck to take into the small, dingy town. None of them have ever been here before, but from the looks of things, the place is neither welcoming, clean or very safe. But they have little choice but to dock here. They need to resupply and maybe hire some crew before they can move on to the friendlier, southern waters.
Strangely, no one comes to greet them, document their arrival, or ask them their business as one would expect when a ship docks. A few dock workers and longshoremen take notice of their arrival, but outside of idle curiosity, nobody seems to care.
"I love the sea, and ships, but I have never been so glad to see dry land," Bayla admits.
Imrich Irrlicht (The Golden Tooth) Imrich awakens in his room that morning at the Golden Tooth inn. It's dingy, dirt, flea-infested and dilapidated, but it's also the only inn in town, so it beat sleeping out in the wilderness, but only just barely. He had ordered the best room in the place, but this was really the best...one shudders to think what the cheaper rooms look like. It's fairly small, maybe ten by ten feet, so that the single bed is basically wedged between two walls. The lone window faces the sea, but is broken--and rather than replace or repair it, it was instead boarded up. Although one could still peak through the cracks of the boards, and it did let in a nice cool breeze at night. There was a chamber pot in the corner that smells faintly despite being empty, and the room doesn't even include a chest or cabinet to hold his things--but luckily, Imirch had his own chest. As for the bed itself, it was barely wider than a simple cot, the blanket was scratchy and had several patched up holes, the pillow had a musky smell and a strange stain on one side (naturally he kept that side faced down), and the mattress itself was so stiff it may as well have been stuffed with rocks. But even if the accommodations were better, the common room below seemed to break out into a brawl every 20 minutes or so, and all the ruckus made it difficult to sleep.
Suffice it to say, Imrich would be more than happy to be rid of this place as soon as possible. Another night here may well be too much to handle.

Kalana nods in agreement with Bayla as she looks out over the town. "Though, I'm not really sure I want to spend too much time here," she admits. "To restock on food, we are going to need money," she says. "To hire crew members, we are going to need money. We are going to have to go out there and find jobs to do, so our first stop should be a tavern. That is probably the easiest way to get some information. We can just come back here to get sleep and finish off the food that we have left until we get some money."

"WATER first!! Then some ale!!" that's about all that Senllip would say. His mood is so low...
======================================================== (OOC: How does ships don't get stolen? Someone have to stay and guard them? Are there other means of safety? Are the other ships in Harbor guarded?)

Imrich sits up in bed and swings his feet onto the floor. He watches dispassionately for a moment as a solitary flea scampers along his arm before flicking it away.
Draska. Proof positive that people are fully capable of making life hell for each other even with no wizards about to compound the misery. Though now, at least, there's one less to worry about, he thinks as he glances at the newest notch on the haft of his mancatcher. Standing up, he wrinkles his nose in disgust at the smell of the poultice the leech had spread over the burns on his chest. Close call, this time. The little monster had been quick, just not quick enough.
After relieving himself in the chamber pot, Imrich picks up his empty wineskin and, with a small gesture of his hand, fills it with fresh water. He uses some of it to freshen up before collecting his things, settling his accounts, and leaving the Golden Tooth. He then makes his way to the port, to look for a likely ship to take him away from Draska.

Kalana, Senllip, Jaeron and Johannas (Aboard the Blackmoon)Senllip looks around and notes there are no other ships in the harbor currently. There are a few armed people patrolling the harbor, but they look less like guards and more like ruffians. It's not clear who they work for, if anyone, but they don't seem to be wearing any kind of uniform or bearing any kind of sigil to suggest they are town guards. Imrich Irrlicht (The Docks)After washing up and gathering up his things, including his chest, Imrich departs the Tooth and heads out to the docks. This morning, there just so happens to be a ship in the harbor. It's a sohar, a smaller vessel, named the Blackmoon. Oddly, it is not flying any colors or even a flag, whatsoever. There are, however, five people standing on the deck, talking among themselves while looking out at the town.

Imrich uses Create Water and fills his waterskin.

Truly, I am spoiled for choice, Imrich thinks when he sees there's only one ship in port. And such a promising name, as well. Blackmoon - not the name of your typical merchant trader.
Looking around, he spots a dock worker lounging about by himself and approaches the man. "Sorry to bother you on your break, friend, but that ship over there - the Blackmoon - would you happen to know if she's a regular visitor to this port?"

“I can stay behind and guard the ship, if you need me to,” Johannes offers.

"I was just about to ask if someone was willing to stay," Kalana admits. "Bayla, you are welcome to stay with us as well, if you desire to do so."

Kalana, Senllip, Jaeron and Johannas (Aboard the Blackmoon)Jaeron prays to Gonto, and fills his own waterskin to the brim, as well as Kalana's and Senllip's. "Wait, have you been able to do that this whole time?" wonders Bayla. "Anyway, thanks for the offer. I'd love to keep sailing with you guys, if you can scrounge up the coin to pay, of course. No offense or anything; I'm grateful for being saved and all. But I can't work for free. The Storm Sorcerer Academy would have my feathers for it!" Imrich Irrlicht (The Docks)The grizzled dwarf that Imrich approaches wears an eye-patch. He focuses his good eye on the ship in question, and then nods. "Aye, that's the Blackmoon. One of the Bloody Chain's ships. They got a warehouse here in town, so it's not uncommon for them to stop by here to drop off cargo and resupply."
==============
Jaeron casts Create Water, creating 20 gallons of water. This fills Kalana's, Jaeron's and Senllip's waterskins to maximum capacity. Senllip and Jaeron are now in light encumbrance.

Jaeron nods "Well I've been able to do that since the day after our last fight. I'd love for you to stay on with us Bayla and if we can find a way to pay you certainly you are worth it. "

"We have to make some money to pay you money,"Kalana says as she moves to get off the ship. "But we will discuss payment later. Anyone that wants to come with me, let's go." She doesn't bother to wait, and assumes they can catch up to her as she makes her way towards a tavern.

"The Bloody Chain, eh?" Imrich replies flatly. "And would you happen to know who captains the Blackmoon?"
