“Not to worry; I will pray,” Johannes says. He puts his hands together and prays for Octhanus to help the child.

Kalana seems to be at a loss at this point. Not all of them were looking for work, so her idea seems to be out. "I've heard of priests that were able to speak to the dead. Can either of you do that?" She asks Johannas and Jaeron.

Jaeron "Well I can speak to an astral traveler, and speak with dead however I have to wait another day to be able to do so." the gnome replies to Kalana. Then he too begins a prayer to Gonto to help the child.

"Errr... Kalana, you can speak to the dead too, but forcing it to answer... doesn't it disturb it's peace? Although if done to prevent more deaths maybe they wouldn't mind so much..." Senllip half speaks half thinks loudly. "If the church provides the food and water they probably produce it so I guess no contamination there..."

"Thank you for your prayers," Flinn says to Johannas. Then, turning to the others, he adds, "And your efforts to help. But it seems to me you've hit a dead-end, at least until tomorrow. It's getting late anyhow." He gestures to the darkening sky as the sun sets. "Perhaps you should retire for tonight and try again in the morning."

Kalana looks to Senllip for a moment. "Speaking to the dead,in this case, sill help a lot of people," she points out. "But it can wait until tomorrow. Maybe some rest will give us fresh minds."

Jaeron "Well we haven't given up but perhaps rest on something not sloshing around in the ocean will do us some good. Perhaps then we can double our efforts with clearer minds."

While the rest of the party speak to Flinn outside, Imrich inspects the corpse of the dwarf as carefully as he can. For the sake of completeness, he looks for any signs of injuries and wounds, lifting the dwarf's clothes and moving the body as needed to get a good look. He also inspects the body for any signs of discolouration around the mouth, ears, nose and fingers - anything that might indicate foreign substances or possibly the effects of poison or disease.
Once he's done he makes sure to return the body to the state he found it and joins the party outside.
I know most of the above has been covered already. Unless something Imrich does generates any new insights, this is basically just a filler post while the others converse with Flinn.

Imrich's search does not turn up anything. As far as he can tell, this dwarf was perfectly healthy when he died. There are no signs of injuries, discolorations or even undernourishment.

"Hmm... did anyone witness the death itself of any of the victims? Do they die at night or each dies at different time?" Senllip asks as they turn to leave when it occurs to him they might want to stay to see what happens during the night in the camp.

"As far as I know, nobody has witnessed the deaths themselves, except perhaps my daughter," Flinn answers. "She may have seen the dwarf die, or maybe she just found him after he died. I can't say for sure, and she isn't saying. Normally, we just find the bodies later. It's hard to say when they died, because they might be missing for hours or even days before we find them."

Kalana looks down at the little girl for a few moments, and decides to try to talk to her tomorrow. "Let's get some rest now," she says to her crew before heading off to the inn to get said rest.

"Unless these deaths are in fact freak natural events, then it is likely that some sort of pattern will emerge eventually. Since there are no witnesses, then the next best thing would be to map out exactly where these deaths occurred and see if that provides our investigation with some direction. Perhaps something for us to do in the morning, though?" Imrich says, directing his answer as much to the other party members as to Flinn.

"Jaeron, Johannes, do you know if there are any divination spells that let you get info on such subjects?"
