"I'm not sure a couple of hours will make much of a difference at this point," Bayla says. "And I have no sympathy for slavers. I've even killed one before in self-defense. But killing someone who is helpless doesn't seem right. And if your only argument is that she would not show mercy if our positions were reversed, well, shouldn't we be trying to be better than that?" she asks. "Maybe we lock her up in the brig, then drop her off somewhere else. Hopefully by the time she makes it back here, we'll be long gone."
"Well, if Jaeron can provide us with food and water, then all we need now is coin. And we have a paying passenger now," Senllip says, gesturing to Imrich. "Err, you can pay, right? I think you owe us something for getting us into this mess, after all."

Jaeron nods as Bayla talks "I agree with you killing a person that cannot defend themselves is not something I a fighter and a gnome of Gonto can do in good conscience. Plus I view it as stooping to the slavers level. I can keep the create water and food spell as long as we are at sea. So if that's the case lets lock her up and get the heck out of this place. See if we can't reconnect with the Bluelightning."

"I'll take care of putting her in the brig," Kalana says as she walks over to where the woman is being held by Jaeron and Johannas. "Everyone else knows what to do to get this ship moving. Once we are out to see, I plan getting to know our new guest a little better." The last sentence sounds more like a threat than a friendly greeting, as she escorts the woman down below.

Imrich fixes Bayla with a cool stare, his black eyes giving nothing away. "I will ask you not to debate morality with me when it comes to wizards who abuse their power to enslave others. I did not say to kill this woman because she would kill us if the tables were turned. I said that she should be disposed of because she is a threat to you now and in the future if you leave her alive. Further, by letting her go you would be enabling her to continue enslaving innocents for no better reason than to ease your conscience. If you will not dispose of her, then you should at least turn her over to suitable authorities that would be willing to sentence her for her crimes."
Turning to Senllip, he raises a sceptical eyebrow at the halfling's demand for payment. "I would rather say that you and your friends got yourselves into this mess through your own foolishness. Did you really think that refusing that woman's bargain on the grounds that slavery is an abomination would lead anywhere but losing your ship or having to flee this island sooner rather than later? I offered to work for my passage before, and that offer still stands. If that's not good enough, I shall bid you all a good day and return ashore to mind my own business. You can keep the slaver."

"I don't know if you actually understand our situation or not," Kalana says to Imrich."If you are here to work, then help me secure this woman while I explain a few things," she says while motioning him to follow her, as she takes the woman to the brig. "We came to Draska, after escaping the Bloody Chains with the sole purpose of making money," she explains. "No matter our moral views at this point, we are not in a position to take on the Bloody Chain. We didn't, or at least I didn't, want to make any enemies while we were here, but suddenly we have made an enemy," she explains. "The Bloody Chains will eventually come looking for their person, and I would rather be long gone before they do, which is why we are sailing away right now. So, if your deal was to work for passage, then I am willing to accept it, but from where I stand you are just as much to blame for this situation as my crew is," she says.

Jaeron clears his throat "If I may interject. I'm a holy gnome and I do not lie so my apologies for being honest and forthright in my denial of slavery. Sure I could have kept quiet but it's not entirely in my nature. For that I will admit my part in getting us into this situation."

Imrich joins Kalana in escorting the prisoner to the brig. Unless Kalana protests, he makes sure that she is gagged, blindfolded and shackled hand and foot. He also removes her rings, robes, and bracers, as well as any spell components and her pistol and other obvious weapons. In place of her robes, he throws a blanket over her. If Kalana protests at any point, he patiently explains that these are necessary precautions to hold a wizard and that the items he is taking are magical.
When Kalana speaks, he listens to her impassively, nodding slightly to indicate that he hears her. "I understand your frustration captain and I am sorry things turned out this way, but your plans were scuppered the moment your crew decided to refuse the Bloody Chains' offer of employment. If I had let the woman return to her compatriots, you would have been one hour away from losing your ship. So unless you managed to find work that could pay 15,000 gold in that time, then sailing away as quick as you can was always the only option you had left."
"But if I may make a suggestion, once we are clear of Enott, we should seek an anchorage nearby and stop to assess our options. If you are willing to listen, I have some ideas that may yet prove profitable."

"Really? Her robes?" Kalana asks in disbelief. She knows that mages can be dangerous, but stripping her of her robes seems over the top to her. Though, she isn't going to argue the point right now. She'll come back later to speak to the woman, and give her clothing that isn't just a blanket. "I seems to me, from what little I understand of the situation, my crew was given an hour to discuss their options with me," she says. "And considering our position, I would have accepted their offer," she explains as she leads Imrich out of the brig. "We would have been able to do the jobs I found here, and then we would have been able to sail off without any problems. We would have been long gone by the time they realized that I lied about becoming a slaver."

Bayla takes a step back from Imrich at his cold look, and quietly moves over to the aftcastle anxiously without another word. Senllip, meanwhile, just shrugs it off. There will be later opportunities to part the genasi with his valuables, if he has any.
Kalana and Imrich take the woman down to the brig and lock her up and strip her down to her smallclothes. Once they are back on the upper deck, they find that the others have already raised the sails and the anchor, and are starting to drift out of the docks.
"One thing...we have no destination," Senllip points out. "Where are we setting a course to?"

"Could we discuss how I suddenly became the captain of this vessel too?" Kalana asks. Things have been happening so fast that she hasn't had the chance to ask how she was suddenly named captain. She took on the role to handle a situation. "As for our destination, we are on the north shore of Draska, so I would suggest sailing south towards Sanctuary."

Continuing their discussion away from the woman, Imrich listens quietly to Kalana before replying. "Forgive me captain, but considering how strongly your crew protested the idea of engaging in slave-taking, I don't believe that the Bloody Chains would have allowed you to sail anywhere without having put reliable people in place to make sure you upheld your end of the deal. So you may have bought yourself time to do other odd jobs, but you would have sailed from Enott as firmly under the thumb of the Bloody Chains as they could manage. I suppose you might have then killed or marooned whoever they put on board, but that would just have put your right back where you are now - short-handed and soon to be a known enemy of the Bloody Chains."
When he hears of the proposed destination, Imrich speaks up again. "Captain, as I said before, there may yet be an opportunity to turn this situation to your advantage, but it would require us not to sail too far from Enott. So by all means sail south, but I suggest we seek a suitable anchorage and discuss our options as soon as possible."

Jaeron decides to walk away from the conversation and go make ready to sail.

Kalana takes out her flask, shakes it a bit to make sure there is enough left, and then takes a swig. "I'm not really sure how we can turn this into our advantage at this point, but I'm willing to listen," she says. "But talk fast because I am not willing to stay in these unsafe waters for long."

"So...setting a course to Sanctuary? Not Sanctuary?" Senllip asks, not sure.
