Orianna turns around to head back to the party to report back what she has found. "I can see, but the rest of you really can't," she whispers. "I haven't found enemies, but I think we might need to risk light."

"Does anyone have a torch?" Fosco asks.

"I think I have some candles somewhere," Iroas offers, digging through his pack. "Anyway, which of these rooms do you think is the one where they are holding Gundren?"

Balasar puts his bow back then digs a torch out of his pack and sets to lighting it.

"Honestly, he could be anywhere," Orianna says. "I didn't check the other doors in this room or in the other one as I wanted your guys input."

Once the torch is lit and handed to Fosco, the others discuss their next move. "We heard voices coming from the southwestern door, so perhaps we should start there," Iroas suggests.
"One way seems as good as another to me," Zoya adds. "We may as well pick one and commit to it."

Orianna leads the way to the southwestern door as suggested. She checks for traps and picks the lock if there is one.

There is no lock on the door, and Orianna does not perceive any traps, so she opens it up. The western portion of this large hall ends in a wall of rubble, but the remainder is still intact. This must once have been the castle's banquet hall, with a soaring ceiling twenty-five feet high. Two large wooden tables with plain benches stand in the middle of the room, and a brass brazier full of glowing coals is tucked into one corner, which illuminates the room along with the sunlight coming in from the arrow slits. Dirty dishes, half-full stewpots, moldy heels of bread, and gnawed bones cover the tables. There is a door to the north, and a passage through the rubble to the west. There are eight goblins in here, all working at washing dishes. This was the source of noise heard earlier, as there are arrow slits to the south. One of the goblins, the largest one (#1) holds a big wooden spoon and smacks any goblin that he feels isn't working hard or fast enough with it. The other goblins seem quite miserable in their drudgery. But the sight of a tiefling opening the door causes them all to pause in confusion. ============= (OOC: Remember, checking for traps is a perception check, not a DEX check.)

OOC: I was doing the DEX check for the lock picking if there was one actually.
IC: Orianna isn't quite sure what to say to the goblins in this room. "Uh, hi. I'm new here," she says sheepishly. "This is the kitchen I'm guessing?" she asks.

"Good! 'Bout time get some help 'round here!" the bigger goblin wielding the wooden spoon says, waving said utensil around wildly, causing several nearby goblins to duck to avoid being smacked. "Hope you better worker than these sorry lot. Get started!" he demands, gesturing to some more dirty dishes. " Got to get place cleaned up before dinner. King Grol get mighty upset otherwise."

Orianna wasn't actually expecting that to work, but she decides to go with it. "Actually, I came with a whole group of people to relieve some of the workers here," she explains.

The various goblins, save the leader, cheer at this news and start walking away from the dishes. The spoon wielding one yells at them. "Wait minute! No thinkin' you are off hook yet! Plenty of other work for you to do! Latrines to dig, rubble to pick up, food to gather." The goblins groan in unison, slumping their shoulders in defeat.
"Get going!" The goblin smacks a few of the others with his spoon, and they all file out through the west path. The spoon wielder turns to Orianna before he leaves and shakes his utensil at her. "Make sure this whole place sparkling before King Grol come for dinner. Or else me no take blame for you!" He then walks out with his companions, leaving the dining hall empty.
