In pretty bad shape, and his deputies all dead or dying, Aguru limps back into the room to start tying up the five unconscious slavers. "They're probably right. The church will raise them all. That is their way. But I have no say over that any more than you do," he points out.
The acolyte tries to patch up Jaeron, but only after she tends to the deputies who are in far worse shape. Then she turns her attention to the gnome, removing the bolt and doing her best to patch up the injury and apply a poultice to it.

Jaeron ashamed of the role reversal "Thanks sorry. Is there anything I can do to help you with the deputies or the sheriff?"

Kalana rubs at her forehead before she picks up her dropped sabre, and moves to open the door as requested by Imrich but she stops short. "I'm not sure it is a good idea to continue," she finally says with a sigh. "It was nearly suicide to continue the way that we did this time," she admits. "If it wasn't for the sheriff and his men showing up, we probably wouldn't have made it this far," she explains. "And we nearly got all of his men and himself hurt or killed." It is clear from the look upon Kalana's face that she is conflicted on the matter. She wants to continue because she doesn't want to fail (again) at saving people that need saving, but she also doesn't want her crew to die.

Senllip takes note on the word exchange between Imrich and Aguru. He follows Kalana to the door and readies himself to fight to the death.

"Alternately, the sheriff and his co-religionists nearly got us killed," Imrich mutters in reply. "The Octhanians have allowed slavers to operate under their very noses and wouldn't even have known about it if we hadn't alerted them. Their foolish beliefs then engendered such confidence in this pack of bullies that they were prepared to fight to the last just to let that obnoxious leader of theirs get away with their captives. Were this any other island, they would have broken and fled long before it came to this."
"Well, if the church is going to play nice and raise or heal these criminals, I imagine they'll do the same for us, and I don't believe the Crimson Wolves will stop to bother us any if we do fall in battle - their aim is to vacate the island with as many slaves as they can. I'm prepared to push on, if only for the pleasure of seeing that wizard's face when I rip his spine out with my bare hands!" Imrich growls angrily.

"I can promise the church will try to raise you if you fall," the acolyte says.
"And I can promise to use whatever influence I have to get you to the top of the queue, if it comes to that," Aguru offers. "Hopefully this whole experience will show the church that the sheriff's office needs a bit more support and funding than it's been getting. But still, no spine ripping. Take them alive. If you break the law, you're no different from the slavers."

Jaeron agrees with the sheriff "Yes sir, no killing brutality does bring law keepers to the same level as the law breakers. Sorry we are not used to this method of battle being adventurers and former slaves briefly ourselves."

Kalana looks over her crew as she takes into consideration the cleric's and Aguru's words. "Very well," she finally says. It appears that they wanted to continue you, especially Imrich. "Get ready." With that said, she opens the door she hesitated on opening before.

Senllip smiles to himself knowingly when Imrich says "... rip his spine of...", but keeps as ready as before for the coming fight.

The four move into the next room to find a large, subterranean chamber. There's some kind of natural waterway here with a small stream about ten feet deep, and they've set up a small boat to transport themselves and their slaves to wherever the tunnel ahead leads--presumably out to sea. The slaves and crossbowmen, as well as the leader, have already boarded. The five swordsmen that Imrich frightened off earlier are guarding the gangplank as the others get settled in. "Oh, really now, are you serious?" the leader grumbles upon seeing them enter. "I've had about enough of this. Turn around and leave now...or we will take you alive and add you to our stock. You are outnumbered and your precious sheriff's men have all been dealt with. There's no way you win this now. Be smart about this," he warns.

Jaeron his final parting words before he leaves going back to the room they were just in "If you have any families onboard can I ask that you kinda let them go if not I understand and will take my leave." he says in a very sincere and resigned tone to the slaver leader.

"Not to worry," the leader says. "We avoided families. We didn't want to risk anyone reporting them missing. I considered every variable with this plan, prepared for anything to go wrong...anything, aside from you four, that is." He frowns, and strokes his beard. "Rest assured, I won't make that mistake again." He gestures for the rest of his men to board the boat. "When today began, I had no idea who any of you were. But I do now. And I will be making sure that my fellows in the Crimson Wolves know of you, too. Keep that in mind, the next time you decide to meddle in our affairs."
Assuming no further action is made, he nods to one of his men, who cuts the boat free. It quickly is carried away by the current, disappearing into the dark tunnel ahead.

Kalana's hands tighten around the hilts of her sabres as the boat disappears. "We'll remember him too," she says hatefully. She stands there for a couple of more moments before she retreats back into the other room. "Let's help the sheriff and his men get to the temple."

Jaeron sighs and meekly nods his head "Yes lets help those we can. I should have asked for them to shut down their operations here but I didn't think he'd bother to listen."

"He wouldn't have released the slaves," Kalana says. "But I'll remember him. Next time, things will be different."
