The SFS library actually has some modules literally from the 80s, which is very cool. I’m planning to run Village of Hommelet, since that’s 1st level and I’m already a little familiar with it.

Village of Hommlet is a classic. Although technically it's 1E, it translates very easily into 2E. Let me know if you need any help with conversions or anything else.

Do I need to change anything other than running it with 2E rules? And writing down weapon speeds and whatnot for all the enemies’ weapons?

Pretty much every monster in 1E got a 2E conversion, so the easiest thing to do is just pull up the 2E stats. So if it says there are zombies in a room, just look up zombie stats for 2E, etc. Mechanically, there is very little difference between them, but the 2E stat blocks will include XP and THAC0 scores, which makes it a lot easier to use.
As for weapon speeds and casting times, yeah, you can look those up easily enough in the 2E books.
Another thing to take into account is difficulty. PCs in 2E are hardier than their 1E counterparts (especially if you are using lots of optional stuff, like Kits), so the adventure might be a little easier, if that sort of thing matters to you. If you prefer an easier difficulty, then you don't have to worry about changing that.

Apparently the CEO of WotC, Cynthia Williams, who was responsible for the OGL fiasco, among other things, is stepping down soon.

I wish I could say that was the case, that she was being sacked for extreme incompetence. But I suspect she's just using her golden parachute to leave now, with a ton of money, and leaving whichever sap takes up the mantle next with her big mess to clean up. I also suspect that whoever that sap is, it will probably be another Xbox executive with no actual background in D&D or MtG.

Make sense. Also, maybe there is a corproate agenda against hiriing fans of the work they produce.

Most likely. The executive class isn't interested in making a quality product, but in just making as much money as possible in the short-term. Then once they strip mine a company of whatever it's worth, they leave and find another company to do the same to.

I managed to get recruited into a D&D game. I have no idea what I'm doing, though. I've never used D&D Beyond, or any vtt (we're using one called Foundry), or know how any of this stuff works. So it's quite a learning experience.
Our first session is tonight, and we're going to play monthly. I'm a Elf Ranger. The other party members are a Half-Elf Paladin, Tiefling Rogue, a Human Sorcerer, and a Dhampir Bloodhunter.

It is 5E, yes. Our second session will be the 18th of June. We're already second level now.

Ok, thanks! I'll tell you how it goes. So how did it go? Or is it still on-going?

Ok, thanks! I'll tell you how it goes. So how did it go? Or is it still on-going? It was pretty fun, though we only did one session. I only had two players, they rolled up a Half-Elf Druid and a Dwarf Wizard. We spent a lot of time in town just rolling reactions—the Dwarf ended up with like 4 Charisma, so all the NPCs really distrusted them. The Druid got one of the NPCs drunk and convinced him to join them as a companion, so they had three characters for the dungeon! Didn’t help them much, though. They took forever to kill the frogs in the moat, then the spider in the tower killed two of them so they called it a day. It probably would’ve functioned better with more players, obviously. But they seemed to enjoy it, if only as a novelty.
