"North, I guess," Orianna says, picking a random direction. Taking a deep breath, she decides to scout ahead a little bit,keeping her eyes open for traps or anything else that could be a danger to her group.

The party moves north, and finds themselves in a clearly artificial tunnel. It looks like this was part of the original mine. The ceilings are only 6 feet high, which means Iroas (6') and Balasar (6'5") must duck to walk around. It's particularly uncomfortable for the dragonborn. There are three tunnels branching to the north. As they look around, they hear the rhythmic thunder of pounding waves echo throughout the mine, loud enough to make the stone underfoot shiver. It only lasts for a few seconds, then subsides.

Orianna figures that is as good as a suggestion as any, so she heads northwest. She tries to remain as stealthy as possible, and she keeps her eyes open for traps or anything else worth of interest.

Heading northeast, they find multiple more tunnels in various directions. However, there is a door to the east. It is 6 feet tall, 4 feet wide, and made from a slab of stone fitted with iron handles and hinges. The doors are low and wide-perfect for dwarves.

Orianna sees no sign of traps on the door, and there is no lock. She swings it open and steps inside. The room resembles an old barracks of some kind. Old stone bunks in orderly rows line the walls and a corroded iron brazier full of old coals stands near the middle of the room. The bones of a half dozen dwarves and orcs lie strewn about, clad in scraps of armor. There is another door to the south. Three gray, hunched figures squat among the remains, pawing at the scraps and gnawing on the bones. They are cracking and gnawing on the ancient bones of the fallen in the vain hope that some tasty morsel of marrow remains. Hearing the tiefling's entrance, all three stand, blood dripping from their mouths, as they turn toward her. ======================================================== (OOC: Initiative and actions for Round 1?)

Balasar tries to react but has a hard time switching from holding a torch to using his bow but he tries nonetheless, and fires an arrow at the creature.

Fosco is the first to act, quickly nocking an arrow on his new bow and loosing it, striking the nearest ghoul in the shoulder. Two of the ghouls then rush toward Orianna before she can even get her own bow up. The first one slashes at her with its claws, raking her across the chest. She feels a strange numbness wash over her, but fights it off. The second one does the same, leaving her on her last legs. But this time the pins and needles spread throughout her body, and she is too weak to shake it off. Her whole body goes numb and she drops to the floor, helpless, as the two salivating corpses approach her hungrily. Her impending death, however, is staved off--at least temporarily. Zoya rushes in and slashes at one ghoul. Iroas then steps in and holding his holy icon aloft, calls upon Ilmater. There is a flash of light, and two of the ghouls suddenly seem terrified of him. One even flees to the south side of the room.
