He found that he had an aptitude for the arcane and discovered that there were elemental energies locked inside everything. He studied furiously and mastered every aspect but could not grasp the inner workings of the element of water. Feeling that the secret must be elsewhere, Quan sought to learn from other societies and joined the crew of a trading vessel from Waterdeep that was visit in his homeland. He quickly learned the trade and how to navigate and the crew took to his hardworking ethic and brought him into the fold by the time they had reached Waterdeep. To celebrate, the crew took Quan to the local watering hole to 'teach him the secrets of fire-water.' They ended up getting Quan drunk and in so doing he mistakenly cast a boosted burning hands spell that nearly burned down the docks. As a result, Quon was conscripted into service to the watch to pay for his vandalism and he has vowed to never drink alcohol in any for again.
