Narya gives the locked doors another shot, and is able to unlock the locked door. She whispers to the others "I got it this time."

"Good lass!" Roshek whispers to Narya with a grin. "Kevril! I'll open the doors if you're first through," he suggests.

I.e. the plan is for Roshek to ready for combat, then open the door and let Kevril rush through. Roshek will then follow, weapons in hand.

Kevril steps up to the door and opens it, Narya backs up and readies her bow. The heavy door looks like it has been repaired since the fall of the moat house.
The chamber is floored in black flagstones, and has ebon-colored wall hangings (now burnt and tattered) in addition to the jumbled wreckage noted. There are bedrolls in odd corners, and the remains of fires can be noted in the northern fireplace. back near the ruined wall in the southeast corner. There is a large clutter of wrecked furniture.

As the door is opened and Kevril takes a step in three brigands pop out from behind some of the clutter and fire at him with crossbows.

As soon as Tristen has shot his arrows, Roshek advances quickly to carefully into the room and moves to attack the closest crossbowman.

"Up an' at 'em, lad!" he calls out to Kevril.

Narya readies her short bow but sees one crossbowman dropped by Roshek & Tristen and the other two fall asleep from Daos's spell. But then more brigands pop out and attack so she fires at the closest one.

Roshek advances and bashes the same brigand in the chest with his mace dropping the brigand.
Daos casts sleep on the remaining crossbow wielding brigands and they succumb to the spell.
Narya holds her action for the moment.
Kevril draws his sword and advances cautiously.

The sleep spell works like a charm again though the only bandit left standing is the one with the sword and shield. He notices his comrades all asleep and curses "Dammit! Weak bastards. I surrender dammit!" he throws his sword, and shield to the floor and puts his hands up.
