I'll slow down now, let others get their thoughts into the conversation. I'm kind of torn, he got into bandits because he was refused his old job back, but he HAS stolen motivated out of a combination of revenge and greed.
Maybe get him reinstated as a guard until he pays off his debt, and expose the judge who has been embezzling?

That sounds fair to me. But I'd also wonder how far this corruption goes. Is it just the judge, or is the mayor involved in some way, as well?

If we bring this guy back and accuse the judge, there is a very strong possibility we will be fighting the town guard and will be outlaws ourselves. I'm all for it, but want to make sure we know that may happen.

Which is why I'm looking for evidence, is like to bring him back alive. Collect our payment then drop a bomb during his hearing.

Agreed. We'll want evidence, we'll want to know how high the corruption goes, and we'll need to come up with some contingencies if things go south.

Especially as seeing how a few wolves almost murdered us. I don't think we're staging a coup!

Is it me, or does this guy seem to not care about clearing his name?

He probably doesn't. Seems to have a good thing going here as a bandit, so if we clear his name, he can return to town and live an honest life or if we fail, he can continue with the bandit gig. So win/win from his perspective, presumably.
The real problem is, we don't have any evidence either way. Either the judge is lying or the bandit is lying. We don't really have any reason to believe one over the other. We have no evidence that either is lying or telling the truth. Even if we choose to believe the bandit, as Daos pointed out, we have no way of convincing anyone else of it.
At this point, I suppose our options are:
A.) Attack and arrest the bandits, then turn them in. Collect our reward and move on. B.) Return to town and baselessly accuse the judge of corruption...and hope that somehow works out for us. C.) Give up, leave and go do something else. D.) Try to find evidence on our own. Maybe do some research in town? My character does have the Researcher background ability. Maybe there's some kind of paper trail or something we can find?

Ias much as I'd like to go with B I have a feeling that'll turn out bad for us. As such, let's go with D.

I'm fine with this either way. A is the easiest. B is suicidal. C makes the most sense. D is probably "right" thing to do.

As a Paladin, I'm all about justice, and Menlo wronged Draft, but Draft chose to commit to a life of banditry. He's now telling us he's going to pack up and take that banditry elsewhere, so i want to bring him in. I want to get him tried, and in the trial bring to light the letters.
So honestly I'm looking at a combination of A and D at this point.

Now that we have what proof he can give us, I want to bring him in for his crimes, but see Menlo exposed at the same time. I'll post when I get home from the office.

We probably need some kind of plan for that, seeing as how there are like 15 of them and we're basically surrounded and on their turf.

There are 7 gathered around the Rope 4 Tying People Up box, not counting Draft.

Chesham told us there were about 15 of them. Was he wrong, or does that mean the rest of them are elsewhere?
