Jaeron walking around the upper decks stops and observes the other ship and goes to see what is going on with Bayla and the captain. "What do you think shall we trust them then or not?"

"That they don't work for the Guild could mean any number of things," Bayla says. "It is possible to work independently, just incredibly difficult. They may be very free-spirited and independent. Or they might have been kicked out. Or this could be some kind of ruse. But I don't think so. Even if it is, it's a cargo ship. The Blue Moon is faster and more maneuverable, so if it comes to combat, we can easily get away from them."

"Thank you," Kalana says to Bayla, and then decides to allow the other ship to board. While they probably wouldn't get much business out of Kalana, it is possible that they will get business from the Red Hawks, or some other members of the crew.

Kalana has Bayla signal the other ship to approach. The two vessels maneuver to come up side by side, and a gangplank is placed between them. A lone dwarf crosses, seemingly unarmed. He is dressed audaciously, in the most colorful outfit anyone has ever seen a dwarf wear. He has a wide brimmed hat with a large pink feather in it. His gloves and boots are red, his shirt and pants blue. He wears a large belt with a silver buckle, and a cloak that seems to be patchworked together from multiple cloaks. His mustache is somehow longer than his beard. "Welcome friends, welcome!" he says. "Are you in the need for cheap, magical items? Nobody sells them cheaper than me, Rakit Goldmeasure. That's the Goldmeasure promise--prices so cheap, you'll swear they must be illegal!"  |

Jaeron smiles at the dwarf "Quite the outfit you have there good sir. Quite fashionable. Hmm illegal certainly I hope they are not illegal just such a great deal they could be."

Rakit chuckles. "No, no, nothing illegal here, I assure you. Just amazing deals, that's all. Now then, what are you all in the market for? Weapons? Potions? Wands? We have a wide selection of all manner of trinkets and doodads."

"Well, thank you kindly, ma'am," Rakit says with a bow, taking that as a complement. He turns back to his ship and gestures. "Bring the weapons, lads!" A pair of kobolds carrying a chest cross over the gangplank and set it down before the party, then open it up. Inside are a seemingly random assortment of weapons, including a cutlass, a sabre, a main-gauche, harpoon, javelin, even a whip--among others.

Kalana decides to look over the sabre. "What can you tell me about this piece. It looks kind of ordinary to me."

"Ah, but looks can be deceiving," Rakit assures her. "You have a keen eye, though. That, my dear, is a sabre of quickness. Use it in battle, and you will always strike before your opponent can. Normally, you'd need to sell this whole ship just to pay for something like that, but you seem like a good person, so I'll let you have it for only 1,750 gold pieces."

Imrich activates his magic detection ability and sweeps it over the weapons, the dwarf, and his kobold crewmen.

Imrich shifts his vision, so he can now see magical auras as if they were on the visible spectrum. The kobolds exhibit no magic whatsoever. Rakit himself has a few small auras on him; one of the rings on his right hand, his cloak, and his belt buckle. As for the chest of weapons, every single one of them exhibits a magical aura of some kind. |
