Dallion approaches the jar turned book and finds that the gibberish sigils can be read and understood by him. Shraevyn's Guide to Magical Mastery, the text begins. In order to successfully achieve the maximum effect of any given spell, one must...
Suddenly, one of the letters on the page twists and writhes itself free of the parchment, and a snake-like body appears in its place. The reptilian head looks out from the book towards the elf and hisses, rearing back for a strike. In seconds, Dallion is engulfed in a field of amber force. Then with a flash, the book suddenly becomes a jar once again.

Dallion tries to move his head, but finds he is completely frozen in place. He cannot move a muscle, as the amber field surrounding him holds him in place.
"What is this? Some kind of magical trap?" asks Zedd, concerned.

"It certainly seems to be another trap," Malavar agrees from under his cloud. "Some sort of paralysis effect, perhaps?"

"We should probably avoid that specific jar, then," Zedd deduces.
After a few minutes have passed, the amber field goes down, and Dallion can move once again. In addition, the rain cloud over Malavar vanishes and stops raining on him. He still remains soaked to the bone, however.

With the rain cloud gone, Malavar decides to inspect the alcove that Dallion had first approached more closely. He is careful not to touch the jar.
OOC: Alcove F - as far as I can see we don't have a close up description of that jar.

Malavar approaches the jar that Dallion looked at earlier. It appears to be a normal jar and nothing happens when he moves toward it. He is careful not to touch it in any way. Dallion would piece together that there are eight cardinal points on the floor, and eight schools of magic. Each school has an opposite, so the trick would be figuring out which jar represents which school. The schools and their opposites are:
Illusion vs Necromancy Alteration vs Abjuration Greater Divination vs Conjuration/Summoning Invocation/Evocation vs Enchantment/Charm

Malavar moves close enough to inspect the jar in detail without touching it.

*looks at his friends than points to the jars*
"each one of these represents a school of magic. the trick is figuring out which is which, all we have to do is figure out four of them then we should be able to identify the other four by their opposition school. Oh yes you all haven't studied the arcane arts. There are 8 schools of arcane magic with each school opposing another. Illusion vs Necromancy, Alteration vs Abjuration, Greater Divination vs Conjuration/Summoning, and finaly Invocation/Evocation vs Enchantment/Charm."
