All right! What were you thinking for backstory?

I'm still working on her history. I have it down that she was a orphan that learned how to steal from people at a young age because the owner of the orphanage was horrible. She ran from the orphanage at around 16, and she tried to make a honest life for herself, but luck wasn't on her side, so she ended up falling back on old ways to survive. She picked the pocket of a woman that looked noble, and was caught. Seeing potential in her, the woman took her under her wing and taught her how to get close to people and con them out of their fortunes. She only does cons people that look like they can afford to lose money. She also has a five year old little girl that doesn't know she exists. That is about all I got so far.

That looks interesting! By "noble," do you mean wealthy, or an actual member of the nobility? I've developed the nobles of Foccu quite a lot, so I could probably pick someone from them. What's the story with the child? ...and, uh, how would she be unaware of her existence? That's usually tricky for the mothers, considering they have to give birth.

I meant an actual noble. If you have someone in mind, that would help a lot.
And I meant that the child is unaware of my character's existence.

Ah, that makes more sense. I misread "doesn't know she exists" as "she doesn't know exists."
So, there are two characters who would work well for that. One is Countess Cryfold, who has a longstanding reputation for criminality among the Foccu underworld. She was no stranger to using underhanded methods to increase her power, and was just exposed as a leader of a secret guild of assassins. She's currently captured by the party and is being transported to the capital to face trial for high treason, as one of her assassins is believed to have tried to kill the king.
The other is Selena Serpentine, advisor to the King of Foccu. She's not a criminal mastermind like Cryfold, but she's famously crafty, pragmatic, and manipulative, and always looking for new agents to employ.
Both are very important to the current storyline, so that's a good hook for your character to have.

Caelynn could work for Selene. I don't think the party would trust her if she worked for Cryfold.

All right. Would Caelynn meet with the party by chance, or an explicit assignment from Miss Serpentine?

I figure it could be an assignment from Selena. That makes the more sense.

Right. I was thinking it would be as simple as "Meet with the mage transporting the prisoners, and make sure he reaches Foccupolis safely."
Miss Serpentine has a pretty distinct personality Caelynn should be familiar with. Like her tendency to withhold information, even vital information, because she thinks its obvious; or how she drinks constantly but never seems to be drunk. She also has a vengeful streak, and carries a lot more power in the government than you might assume.
So, what about the child? Who's the father? Where is she living? How was that living situation decided?

I figure the father was someone that was once employed by Selene. They both seemed to genuinely love each other, but he disappeared before Caelynn even knew she was pregnant. Selene didn't know where he went, or if she did, she kept it pretty tight lipped. As a result, Caelynn decided it was best to give the baby away. She didn't want her daughter to grow up like she did, so after some careful study of people, she found a couple that happened to be well off merchants in the jewelry business that were having a hard time having a child, and gave the child to them.

All right, the father was just a human, I'm assuming?
Anything else in terms of backstory or stats you need to mention?

Probably human. Caelynn herself is a half-elf.
I will probably get her stats up to you sometime on Saturday or Sunday when I'm off from work.
