Keenly aware people were running in the wrong direction but knowing the other side of the gate was safer, Benyt pushed past and around companions until she was safe under the sticky and entrapping clutches of a horrific monster. She really should have stuck to caravan work.
Hearing the Kender shout, Benyt locates the key and tries to be patient enough for her companions to exit before locking the door...
Action - Hold action to lock the gate, otherwise Dodge.

Zakkoth ran unintentionaly alongside Caelin, who seemed to have a similiar idea for action on parallel to him. In horror he seen how Caelin's blood rain everywhere, and maybe his concern for a human he met few days ago would be his doom, as he was at least slighty distracted in extremly deadly situation, he has seen the scaled body and at once, felt dozens of sharp objects penerate him. "Ru-run.. angry boy" he say and everything turn into darkness and pain.

Never strong enough, quick enough, smart enough to save those he had come to love, to respect? His hand reached down, grasped Zakkoth's, perhaps for for the last time, he nodded. Giving it a squeeze, then it moved to the thong around his neck, grasped the broken idol. "When I die, I'll spit in her eye," he swore, as he tugged Zakkoth's talisman from his neck. He wasn't some discarded soldier, wasn't some old fool, he was a friend, a mentor, and Caelin world be damned if he'd let Zakkoth be forgotten. Clutching the dagger in one hand, and the broken talisman in the other, he sprinted towards his companions. He surged forward, up the stairs to stand to Eliana's left in case the abberation, or dragon scavengers would take someone else from him. OOC: I'll use my free Interact to take Zakkoth's talisman, to remember him by. I'll then Move, Dash and Cunning Action Dash to get to the top of the stairs, beside Eliana.

Chantilly dashes up the stairs, squeezing past Henry and Eliana, then makes a beeline to the one kobold who was not ensnared. She manages to snatch his dagger right from his belt. "Hey, that mine, thief!" the kobold cries in protest, trying and failing to sling a stone at the roper. But the roper then snatches it with one of its free tendrils and pulls it into its mouth with such speed, Chantilly's hair is blown by the breeze the body creates when it flies past her head. With one sickening bite, the kobold is quite dead. Eliana runs upstairs, slipping under one of the tendrils and then transfers her spectral, ghostly hand from one drake to the other. It has little effect. One of the drakes goes for Benyt, but is unable to get past her impenetrable defenses. Shortly after, Henry runs down the stairs, pushing past Benyt, runs up to Zakkoth and grabs his body, and starts dragging him back. Both drakes get in hits as he runs past, and then the second drake follows him up and bites him again, leaving the squire on the verge of death himself by the time he reaches Benyt again. Henry - HP: 2\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None--------------- Going back to save Zakkoth wasn't certainly his brightest idea and the squire, now bleeding profusely by so many wounds, knows death is again closing in on him fast. Still, he had to do it - sir Frume once told him that a Knight's words and actions are one and the same and he swore an oath to protect these people to his last breath. Besides, safety is so close. He just has not to die for a few steps and Zakkoth would be safe, so he forces his weakening legs to keep moving for a few steps more. Then, and only then, he would let himself go to Huma's breast. {Spoiler}Henry uses Disengage and moves outside the cell, still dragging Zakkoth along.

Benyt - AC 17, 25/25hp
OOC: I'm trapped by initiative. One drake and Henry go before I do, so I can't do anything active to help him. If Nenry escapes the drake, I close and lock the gate. (Because we're getting technical with this, my last action was Dodge and the drake may attack me before my next action even though its a new round, so on its initiative am I still Dodging? Man, PbP really makes you think this crap through.) If Henry doesn't, I'll swing the gate between me and the drake, using it as a shield (+2 AC), and drag Henry the last few feet, closing and locking the gate.
Benyt's got no mind to risk herself for a draconian, especially one she's only just met, and he seems to have made his peace. So if Henry pulls him through, great, if not...

Eliana was going to ask the roper to grab Zakkoth, but apparently Henry went down there to get him so she focuses on using her cantrips on the drake attacking Henry. (d2, chill touch)

Chantilly stabs one of the restrained kobolds, killing her and snatching a vial off her belt. The roper appears annoyed by this, preferring its meat still alive. Eliana moves her spectral hand from one drake to the other, but again, it seems to have very little effect. While one drake is distracted by Benyt, Henry drags Zakkoth past her and up the stairs. Benyt then backs off and slams the gate shut quickly. The drakes snap and snarl at the gate, but are unable to reach the party. The roper reels in the last living kobold and pops him into its mouth. Henry - HP: 7\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None--------------- Henry falls on his knees as soon as he's (relatively) safe, weak from so many grievous wounds he couldn't really be counted to fight again anytime soon. The squire puts a shaky hand on Zakkoth's chest, a divine light healing some of the draconian's wounds - nearly not enough for a full recovery, but at least to stench the bleeding; he does the same to himself, but then the blessed light starts to dim before giving up to the darkness of the cave - whatever connection Henry has with the gods, it is now spent. "He is saved." he says to Chantilly, between panting and coughing "But he needs to rest." then turns to Benyt and nods in gratitude "You kept the cage open for us. You have my thanks." and said that, he just sits ad tries to catch his breath, even though he throws some suspicious looks to the horrendous Roper. {Spoiler}Henry uses Lay on Hands on Zakkoth to heal 6 HPs, then he does the same on himself to heal 5 HPs.

Benyt eyes the roper surreptitiously, acutely aware of the exit. She says to Henry evenly, "Let's hope your reserve of luck is deep enough to contain your rising pile of bad decisions." If she was to stay with these people - or this country - for any length of time, she had to have a more lengthy discussion with the squire. She was having trouble understanding the impracticality of the Solamnic knight's perspective, and it seemed imperative to do so not only to help her survive, but to navigate an obvious deficiency in their mindset. Is Henry likely to throw himself as heedlessly into danger at every opportunity? Will local lords view justice in the same naïve spirit?
Well, one thing at a time. her head was aching and she had been barely conscious when Chantilly struck her bargain with the monster, and now she stood nervously awaiting the next consequence of the deal, wondering if the Kender had any idea what to do next. Oh, she hated having decisions taken out of her hands ...

Chantilly removes her own sturdy belt to replace it with the ragged, and somewhat odorous kobold's belt.
Henry revives Zakkoth to consciousness, and the draconian wakes up in surprise to find he has not exploded, but rather is safe at the top of the stairs, if not in terrible pain. Henry then heals himself a bit, but he and the mystic are both still in pretty rough shape.
"Meats tell me location of meat source now," the roper continues, growing impatient.
