"Yes, I'm a handmaid to Lady Escott--the daughter of the Baron of Buho," Lillian explains. "We've been living there in the castle for a year or so."

"Wow, so you are important. If that's the case," she glances around to make sure nobody is listening in, then leans in closer, "you know anything about the rumors of war going 'round?"

"It's more than rumors, I'm afraid," Lillian says gravely. "Calabria intends to invade Tardiff, starting with Hart. But the Duke's not going to let them, and neither will I."

"Oh, dear," the innkeeper says, worried. "What will happen to all of us common folk then?"

"There were other ways to handle the situation other than leave," Ladonna says hotly. Naturally, she knows that if she hadn't said anything to Amanda in the past, this probably wouldn't have happened, but the decision was ultimately up to Amanda to leave. She closes her eyes for a moment as she wills herself to calm down. This wasn't the place to have this conversation. "I apologize," she finally says to the group. "I'm afraid I lost my head a little bit there for a moment. I shouldn't interfere with the introductions of Sir Relken and his new bride. Excuse me," she says with a bow of her head. She turns to leave, and looks to the Sadduce. "Sadduce Sern, might I have a word with you please?" she asks.

"Certainly. Sir Relken, why don't you show the Syndrig family to the guesting house?" Voltera suggests. "Make sure they get settled in."
"Uh...yes, of course," Relken says, still a bit confused. He escorts the family off the docks and toward the guesting house.
"And Mister Marche, why don't you..." Voltera looks around. "Oh, that's odd. Where did he run off to? Well, no matter, it's just you and I now. That went rather well, don't you think?"

"No," Ladonna says. "Hoe is that getting things back on track?" She asks. "It was more on track when I was marrying him."

"Its...too soon to say for sure," Lillian answers cautiously. "But some people will probably have to fight."

Ladonna Voltera looks a bit confused. "Why, whatever do you mean?" she asks. "You told me that Ser Relken was meant to marry your sister. When I found out that you had a sister in this timeline, it seemed a perfect fit. This is also an opportunity to reunite your parents, who you told me were still married in your timeline."
Lillian "I see," the innkeeper says, concerned. "Is it true that Calabrians are slavers? Maybe we should start saving up coin to send the kids somewhere safer..."

"Perhaps it might be wise," Lillian says, before eating the rest of her meal in grave silence. She pays and leaves the tavern, feeling rather solemn. From there, she decides to look for Ladonna, to see how the marriage situation turned out.

"Felicia was five years younger than me," Ladonna explains. "And I only ever had one sibling. She was the golden child of the family because she always did what she was told. She had three suitors, Relken was one of them, and oddly enough the man that my mother is married to now was also a suitor," she explains. "Back in the original timeline, I was actively trying to stop my sister from getting married. Relken was the only one left, and I used my magic to charm him to try to steer him away from my sister. It didn't work, and the wedding planning began. With him being charmed, I could have probably switched his interest from my sister to me if I wanted to back then. Hence why I say it would have been more on track for him to marry me in this timeline." Ladonna lets out a sigh at this point, and shakes her head.
"As for my parents...I really don't know what you were trying to do there. Mother is married to a rich merchant now. There is absolutely no way she is going to give my father a second glance," she points out. "If anything, this might actually make my relapse into drinking again. He worked so hard to try to overcome his drinking problem, and he also worked so hard to try to set up a marriage for me. The marriage has now failed, and my mother is back in the picture, the woman that he wronged, and I'm not sure he is going to handle it well at all."

"Well, the idea is to move this timeline closer to the original," Voltera points out. "It probably won't be possible to align them perfectly, but we can get them as close as we can, to ensure Gonto's True Path is still followed. And anyway, none of what you said really makes any sense. Why would you try to stop your sister's wedding? What do you mean you could 'change his interest'? What would that have accomplished? Even if Relken preferred you in the previous timeline, that wouldn't have mattered, correct? The wedding was set up by your parents, not him. From my understanding, based on your own words, in the original timeline Relken was betrothed to your sister, not you. So that has now been fixed.
"The next thing to fix is getting your parents back together," Voltera adds. "According to your own words, they were still married in the previous timeline. First, we'll need to remove Stenn from the picture. Then we just need to have the baron order them to remarry again. That part might be trickier, as the baron is rather reclusive. But perhaps we can use his daughter to facilitate that--you are one of her handmaids, after all. And if you're worried your parents will be too resistant to it all, there are ways around that, too. I can supply you with a potion that will ensure they will be agreeable to the idea. You'll just need to make sure they both take it."
At around this point, Lillian arrives at the river docks, and spots Ladonna having a hushed conversation with Voltera Sern.

"I never really liked my sister," Ladonna admits. "I guess it is neither here or there." She still was feeling a bit salty about this though. "My father will have to become more appealing to my mother for this to happen. Right now, he has nothing to offer a wife," she points out. "As for Stenn, he was mostly motivated by greed if I remember correctly. I'm not sure how he got together with my mother, but wouldn't all of this marrying and remarriage really be bad for her reputation?" She asks.

Lillian slowly inches closer to the conversation, waiting to speak until she has a better idea of what Ladonna and Sadduce Sern are talking about.

"The Church can smooth out any reputation problems later on," Voltera says. "Ah, and here's Miss Lillian." She waves her over. "Perhaps she can be of assistance in the task."
