Kalana instructs her crew to head for the two smaller ships next to the caravels (c1 & 2). Once close enough, she'll have her crew staring firing.

OOC: My suggestion would be to target the smaller ship.

Senllip, even that he thinks they have more chance hitting bigger targets than small, instruct the sailors manning the artillery weapons to target the small ships. Later, The Diamond might shift the artillery to aid outnumbered ships from our fleet.

The party's fleet sails north while the enemy fleet sails south, toward them. Ten minutes pass, and they begin to close the distance. Based on things now, it looks like the Lleiset will reach weapons range long before anyone else does.

Kalana has the Bluemoon move closer, and once they are in weapons range, will have the ranged weapons attack.

Senllip has similar plans. Starting with the Catapult, then balistae and lastly the cannons.

The ships continue to sail forward for another ten minutes. "Admiral, we should be coming into weapons range in about twenty minutes," Bayla calls out. Up ahead, she can see that the Lleiset is now engaging the great galley.
Over on the Blue Diamond, Cassie say to Senllip, "Those catapults won't even have a chance of hitting until we're around 300 yards away. Looks like we'll have some time before then. Steady as she goes, big bro--I mean, captain?"

Round 02!

Tiaru vs. Caravel 02 Maneuverability Phase: Tiaru and Caravel 02 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 800 yards away to 500 yards away in ten minutes.
Bluemoon vs. Caravel 01 Maneuverability Phase: Bluemoon and Caravel 01 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 1,130 yards away to 860 yards away in ten minutes.
Blue Diamond vs. Cog 01 Maneuverability Phase: Blue Diamond and Cog 01 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 1,650 yards away to 1,500 yards away in ten minutes.
Salty Dwarf vs. Cog 02 Maneuverability Phase: Salty Dwarf and Cog 02 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 1,600 yards to 1,450 yards away in ten minutes.
Seleya vs. Sohar Maneuverability Phase: Seleya and Sohar wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 1,680 yards to 1,410 yards in ten minutes.
=============
(OOC: Yeah, you guys can make your own rolls, if you want. But seeing as this is only the third ship vs. ship battle we've had in this alleged naval campaign, I'm not sure if any of you actually know what to roll. In any case, the Bluemoon should reach combat range next round, but the Blue Diamond and Salty Dwarf still have quite a ways to go before they do. They're small, slow ships and they started much further back.)

OOC: I think it is better if you roll since it was so long since we last had our ship to ship battle.
IC: "Once in weapons range, start firing," Kalana says to Bayla.

"Big Bro is fine.." Senllip flashes a smile at his sister but then focuses his attention on the ships ahead.
======================================= (OOC: I thought we would keep the formation. With the fast ships running off to battle, until we get to the hit and run support, there might be no one to support...)

The ships continue sailing forward, and the enemy comes right at them. "Admiral, looks like the Lleiset is engaged with the galley, and the Tiaru is now engaging one of the caravels. We should be in weapons range in ten minutes," Bayla tells Kalana. Pulling out her spyglass, Kalana watches as the great galley maneuvers to evade the Lleiset, and fires off a ballista bolt and catapult boulder, but both miss considerably. The Lleiset returns fire, their catapult missing, but their ballista striking the galley's rigging, making it slightly harder for the big ship to move as quickly.
"Let's just hope we can win this before the rest of the fleet mobilizes and joins them," Cassie notes to Senllip.
Thom nods to Brax. "Best not to rush in too quickly; we'll have to get really close up to attack, their weapons have far better range than ours."

Round 03!
Lleiset vs. Great Galley Maneuverability Phase: Lleiset and Great Galley are 230 yards apart. Lleiset wishes to close with the Great Galley, so make a maneuverability check (1d6+3): 1+3 = 4; the Great Galley also makes a maneuverability check (1d6+3): 3+3 = 6; Great Galley wins and widens the distance between them by 20 yards (increasing to 250 yards) and Lleiset suffers a -1 penalty to missile/artillery combat this round. KVrRbCKJ1d6 1d6 Action Phase: The Great Galley has 40 marines but is outside long range, so hold off. But they do fire their aft medium ballista (medium range) and aft medium catapult (normal range). The ballista [THAC0 14 - AC 10 = 4 to hit; -2 for medium range] fires at the Lleiset (1d20-2): 1-2 = -1, miss. The catapult [THAC0 15 - AC 0 = 15 to hit] fires at the Lleiset (1d20): 5, miss. 1d20 1d20 The Lleiset returns fire with their bow medium ballista (medium range) and bow medium catapult (normal range). The ballista [THAC0 14 - AC 10 = 4 to hit; -2 for medium range, -1 for losing maneuverability check] (1d20-3): 18-3 = 15, hit causing (2d10): 7, a rigging hit, dealing (1d3): 1 crippling damage. The catapult [THAC0 15 - AC 0 = 15 to hit; -1 for losing maneuverability check] (1d20-1): 11-1 = 10, miss. 1d202d101d3 1d20
Tiaru vs. Caravel 02 Maneuverability Phase: Tiaru and Caravel 02 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 500 yards away to 200 yards away in ten minutes. They will engage in combat.
Bluemoon vs. Caravel 01 Maneuverability Phase: Bluemoon and Caravel 01 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 860 yards away to 590 yards away in ten minutes.
Blue Diamond vs. Cog 01 Maneuverability Phase: Blue Diamond and Cog 01 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 1,500 yards away to 1,350 yards away in ten minutes.
Salty Dwarf vs. Cog 02 Maneuverability Phase: Salty Dwarf and Cog 02 both wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 1,450 yards to 1,300 yards away in ten minutes.
Seleya vs. Sohar Maneuverability Phase: Seleya and Sohar wish to close, and so automatically do so (no roll needed). They go from 1,410 yards to 1,140 yards in ten minutes.
=============
(OOC: Yes, but on the other hand, if the fleet had remained in formation, that means the Blue Diamond and Salty Dwarf would always be 500 yards behind, well outside their weapons range for any attacks. This is especially true for the Salty Dwarf, which only has a pair of light ballista, and their maximum range is only 240 yards. The Blue Diamond has medium ballista and medium catapult, which has a max range of 300 yards and 360 yards, respectively.) 1d6·1d6·1d20·1d20·1d20·2d10·1d3·1d20
