I don’t think so, Matt, since you have to declare Inspiration before the roll.

Yeah, there's no take-backsies. But even if there were, Horizon's failure kind of makes it moot.

Decided to end the chapter there, to allow for some level ups during the adventure.
XP and summary will follow shortly.

These are my notes for the session:
Title and Theme The title of this chapter, “Princenappers!” was a reference to the party kidnapping the Ravenite prince. Once again, that was the best I could come up with for a title. Still better than 'Second Mission,' I suppose.
Ravenite War I realize it looks like the Ravenites going to war suddenly was awfully convenient timing, but this wasn't done to make things easier for the party. It really was just a lucky roll on the global events charts I roll on every day. Sometimes the dice work out in the party's favor, instead of against them.
Return of Pisces The Tideway, and Captain Pisces the half-sea elf, were both introduced in my Purify Pilgrimage game with Horizon. Purify Pilgrimage takes place about 6 months in the past of this game, so likely Oceana's adventure is already over with by now.
Blitz's Family History I had decided when creating him that Blitz was not actually from Si'ahl, but rather was Kanatan. This was largely because I felt Blitz was a Kanatan sounding name. Of course, I had no idea the party would ever go to Maplewood, much less bring him along. Sometimes things just work out that way. We also learned he had a son, although it was only mentioned in passing.
Ravenite Captain The encounter with the Ravenite ship could have gone any number of ways, depending on the party's actions. Originally, it was supposed to be a war ship with over a hundred crew, but because of the war, I changed it to a mere scout ship with a couple of dozen instead. So if a fight had broken out, it would have been tough, but possible. Fortunately, the party was able to avoid it.
Totem Pole The totem pole was really just a bit of flavor and some signs of the Ravenite faith and culture, that will come up later on.
Hunter The hunter had a name, although it never came up. If the party had managed to successfully bluff him, he'd have warned them of the shinwacks and witchblood field. If they aroused his suspicion (which they did), he'd report them back in Suú. Which would make infiltrating it a little more difficult, although not impossible. Finally, if they attacked, his top priority would have been protecting the youths, even at the cost of his own life.
Shinwacks The shinwacks were a little homebrewed critter I picked up a long time ago. You might remember them appearing in Wyld Times, if you followed that game at all. Oh, also the witchblood is foxglove, if you hadn't pieced that together already.
Cursed Grove The cursed grove was a small sidequest born from April's prior downtime. I thought it'd be a fun way to introduce undead to the party. Defeating the undead was only the first part. Had the party just left then, the corpses would have eventually reconstituted. Using a skill challenge was a spontaneous idea. How did everyone like that? I wasn't sure how well they would work in pbp.
Split Story I decided to break this adventure into two parts so there could be some level-ups half-way, but also it will allow some time for the party to do some stuff when they return home. Last chapter took so long, we had to gloss over all the stuff that happened when they returned (like Poppy visiting the Hermit), so I wanted to make sure there would be time for it this time around.
Anyway, any feedback, questions, opinions? Let me know. Once Terani is leveled up, and I've leveled up the NPCs, we can start the second part of this adventure.

That was nice and I think indeed a convenient point to break.
Title, 👍 next post... Suggestions (feel free to ignore, rework etc as they're not that great) Into the fire; A prince, an army and some kidnappers walk into a bar...; Coming and going.
Piscies, love the mix even if I don't see all of it. Blitz, equally great, who knows when other bits will come out and just make for me dude quests etc. Ship, phew! Totem, nice. Even if it's empty plot, it keeps us on our toes. Hunter, uh oh! 😬 Hard times ahead it may seem. Shinwhacks, No issue with own monsters, they seemed a nice one, I feel they could be a little community side lot.
Grove, alternate ways of dealing with problems is fun for me. Thinking of different ways to use skills and checks to really go for it. Though with pbp I don't think the first to 8/4 works, however. Maybe it can still essentially be the best of 3, so all of the party does a check like we did, that's resolved as one point (3 or 4 beat the dc for win point, 2/2 is a draw, else a fail point) then timing of who rolls etc doesn't matter as much and it's more a team effort. Let me know if that needs re wording.

It was interesting trying to come up with a way a certain skill would work in the challenge, so I think I liked it.

I'm glad you liked it. Hopefully we can tweak it and make use of it again in the future some time.
Okay, everyone is leveled up. Feel free to check the Character Stats thread to make sure I didn't make any mistakes.
I'll see about getting up the new chapter tomorrow.

Would you mind if we did a bit of planning while on the boat back to be safe from prying ears?

I liked the skill challenge, althought I thought the 8/4 thing was a bit too harsh. Maybe something timed? Like "you need X success by the third turn, or the thing fails" idk
I'll try to post later, lately I always feel depleted and right now my head hurts like crazy

The 8/4 thing was based on the party size. The number of PCs determine how many successes or failures or needed. So if there were 5 PCs, it'd have been 10/5, and if there had been 3, it would have been 6/3. I guess the people who designed the rules figured a static number of successes would mean challenges would be way easier if the party was very large and way harder if the party was smaller than average.

As neither Matt4 or GravityEmblem have made an IC post in over two weeks, am I right to assume they are both quitting this game, as well?

I really don't know to be honest. I'm still checking the site regularly, but school is exhausting, I just got put in charge of TTRPG events for my school's Science Fiction Society, and I don't have a lot of energy for PbP games right now. But school's almost over and I'll have some more time to play here over the summer. Plus, this site has been a small part of my life for like 7 years and I'd feel bad just dropping it. I'll try to push through finals season and post when I can and hopefully I can be more active when school stops.

I'm back, sorry, I was overwhelmed by real life and needed to take a break. If it's okay I'll get back to posting both here and in Module Matine
