Yeah, in my line of work degrees are less a requirement it's certifications everyone clamors over to bump you up positions and levels. Granted they can add up. I don't really have interest in going above my current level of college degree. I'm just done with schools in general I think. I just wish I had gone to college sooner not almost 10 years after HS.

Some good news here. It's finally starting to cool off a bit. We're even getting some rain now and again.

Same story over here in Mass! Unfortunately, the rain might be as much of a problem as the heat. We had a huge thunderstorm that knocked out the power on Friday, and Hurricane Lee might graze us.

Oh, geez. I well remember hurricanes back when I lived in Mississippi. Hopefully it doesn't get too bad over there.

Vermont lost power in areas during that storm Friday as well. I just hope we don't get more flooding like we had in July.

For the first time in ages, I actually had a Saturday off yesterday. So I went down to the local farmer's market. I've never actually been, because it's always on Saturdays during my work hours.
Of course, everything was super expensive and none of it was anything I wanted or needed, but it was nice to get out and look.
Anyway, anyone else do anything interesting during the weekend?

Oh, wow, some of my housemates also went to a farmer’s market this Saturday. They bought some carrots and we all had a carrot-eating party in the bathroom. Our Resident Advisor also organized a murder mystery party—she got a sort of escape-room-in-a-box where we had to solve a mystery. It was really fun! We taped up all the evidence pages on the wall and then connected them with red string.

That sounds fun. Well, except the part about eating in the bathroom. That sounds a little gross, to be honest.

I woke up very sick today, for the first time since the pandemic started. I always mask up wherever I go, and have for the last several years, and to be honest, was starting to feel a bit invincible. I was caught off guard I actually got sick after so long.
It started yesterday with the sniffles. As the day wore on, I started feeling worse and worse. My energy levels plummeted and my nose kept leaking. I chugged a bunch of OJ and went to bed three hours early, hoping I'd be better in the morning.
I was not. I tossed and turned all night, waking up every hour or so to blow my nose or kick off or pull up the covers or drink some water. My body seemed to switch between so hot I was drenched in sweat, to so cold I was shivering despite it being room temperature. The muscles in my back and neck ached, and I felt so nauseous I couldn't eat anything.
So when I got up this morning, I called in sick, took some meds and went back to bed for another six hours. Feeling slightly better now. Figured I should probably eat something, despite having no appetite, and thought I'd try to get some posts up, too.
Hopefully I feel better tomorrow, because I cannot afford to miss any more work.

Thanks, all. I called in again today, as I still had a fever and severe fatigue. Here's hoping I'm well enough by tomorrow to return to work.

Did you take a covid test?

No, but I don't think it's COVID. My sense of taste and smell seem perfectly intact.
