Okay, so chapter is done, XP is up. We have one level up (Greywolf). I need a 1d8 from you.
Here are my notes for the chapter:
Title and ThemeThe title of this chapter is Freedom. Not just because the party freed themselves from the slavers, but now they are truly off the rails and free to do whatever they want in the islands.
Enott JobsThere were several jobs in Enott, and Kalana picked up most of them, but because the party left in a hurry, none were completed. Each job had a sort of dark twist to it, where the party was presented with a moral choice and doing the right thing meant not getting paid. For instance, the brothel worker who was 'kidnapped' actually just ran away, and turning her back in meant forcing her back into that life but letting her go meant failing the job.
Emery Over Her HeadThe really funny thing about the whole Emery thing, is she was mostly just blowing smoke. That stuff about Deyren's debt falling to the party? She made that up. She was hoping to sucker some rubes into paying out, and when she wound up getting kidnapped over it, all she wanted was to get the hell out of that situation.
Too Many SahuaginAfter that first encounter with the sahuagin, I actually rolled encounters with them two more times after that. I just ignored them, because we already fought sahuagin and fighting them two more times just felt redundant. So instead, I stated the party encountered dead sahuagin in the water, twice, to sort of foreshadow the scrag encounter and serve as a reminder of the war going on down there.
Stealthy ScragsOriginally, the plan was the scrags were going to quietly board the ship and sneak up on the party while they were distracted talking. Jaeron ruined their plan by wandering over to the bow and looking over the railing. Had he not done that, that fight might have been a lot harder, especially if the party failed their surprise checks.
Saren and AguruSaren is a character from my previous Octhania game. Horizons and Bishgada may remember him from that game. He's loosely based off the protagonist of the anime, Log Horizon. Aguru is from an even older game. He was a henchman to one of Horizon's old characters, a cleric of Octhanus named Abigail way back in 2003. He was very loosely based off Lennier from Babylon 5.
Divine Favor UpdatesJaeron earns a point of divine favor from Octhanus for refusing Emery's deal to become a slaver.
Johannas earns two points of divine favor from Octhanus; one for refusing Emery's deal and another for praying to Octhanus to help Flinn's daughter.
Imrich earned a point of divine favor from Crizza for kidnapping Emery and a point of favor from Gonto for paying for the party's rooms, meals and baths in Serenity.
GoalsKalana
01. Redeem herself through doing good deeds (though it might not ever been enough)
02. Confront Tethys
03. Return to Shadowshore to face the music of what she did there
04. Get to know Toven better
05. Help Julak and Toven solve the mystery of the zombie plant people
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Kalana didn't get a chance to pursue any of these goals, but that may change soon. Did you want to add, remove or modify any of these goals?
Senllip
01. Find a way to visit his child at least once a year.
02. Keep in touch with Athel and his old guild. Maybe run some errands for the guild while traveling the seas.
03. Explore new continents.
04. Advance in command on the Blue Lightning.
05. Meet the Son of Crizza.
06. Meet Senrik.
Due to unforseen circumstances, Senllip didn't get a chance to pursue any of these goals, but that may change soon. Did you want to add, remove or modify any of these goals?
Jaeron
01. Check back in on Samwen and the church.
02. See more of the life at sea, as well as document more of other cultures/the adventures of the Blue Lightning.
03. See more new places.
04. Meet others of the Gonto church in other lands and learn their histories.
Jaeron got to do a little bit for goals 2 and 3. He never actually stepped foot in Enott, but he did get into Serenity. I'm not sure if that was enough to complete these goals, though. Did you want to add, remove or modify any of these goals?
Johannas
01. Help protect Harrin from the merchant’s guild.
02. Assist in stopping the war of the Merfolk
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Johannas didn't get a chance to pursue any of these goals, but that may change soon. Did you want to add, remove or modify any of these goals?
Much like with Past Glory, would you mind coming up with a few goals for Imrich?
