"Me too!" Fosco chimes in. "I'm not going to stand by when a person is in need."

Djandaar spends some time studying the faces of his fellow caravan guards, then throws up his hands with an exaggerated groan. "Fine. I see none of you will listen to reason. Let's just do this quickly, then, so we can get back to the job we're actually getting paid to do."
Scowling, he points to Iroas. "You," he says. "Help me push the caravan over into the brush, so we can drag loose foliage around it and hopefully conceal its presence from passersby." Then Djan moves to the back of the caravan and looks around for the best place from which to exert force on the vehicle.

Orianna smirks at Djan. "You're so kind," she says teasingly.

Working together, Iroas and Djan manage to help get the wagon into the brush, hidden from anyone who should happen by on this trail. The party then takes a short rest. During this time, the goblin they took prisoner comes to and starts struggling against her bonds.

(OOC: Because of the short rest, each of you may, if you wish, roll your hit dice plus your CON modifier. That's how much HP you will get back.)

Orianna, taking notice of the struggling goblin, approaches her. "I wouldn't struggle too much," she says. "We have some questions."

Djandaar says and does nothing to the goblin prisoner, merely observes him dispassionately. After a few minutes he begins to look increasingly impatient, but continues to hold his tongue.1d6

The goblin looks up at the party and scowls. "Why should I tell you anything?" she asks defiantly. "You're going to kill me anyway."

“Ah, but what if we weren’t? What if we were going to let you go peacefully after you answer our questions?”

"Uh, no," Orianna says. "I don't think killing you was on our list of things to do."

"Tell that to my dead companions," the goblin retorts. "We were trying to take you alive...a favor you clearly didn't return."

Fosco sighs a little. "That is true. I could argue that killing someone in the heat of battle is different from killing someone in cold blood, but they're both still killing, in the end. We don't have anything against you, personally-well, maybe Djandaar does-we just want to figure things out. People don't just go around attack travelers for no reason, after all"

Orianna motions to Fosco. "Plus, we didn't know what your intentions were to begin with, so we defended ourselves. Though, that does raise the question as to why you would want to take us alive?"

Djandaar lets out an exaggerated yawn as the others ineffectively attempt to interrogate their captive. "If you're really convinced this...creature has useful information to share, stand aside and allow me to motivate him." Pausing, he dramatically extends a scaly claw and momentarily causes a small tongue of flame to flicker from his upturned palm. "Otherwise, we're wasting valuable time. We've already uncovered the path that brought them here; and all this chatter with your new friend isn't getting us any closer to getting back on the road."

"Those were our orders. Chief Klarg said killing will only draw attention, so leave victims alive and rob them instead. Except for the dwarf, who needed to be brought in," the goblin says.
"Dwarf? What dwarf?" asks Iroas, suddenly concerned.
"The dwarf traveling with the human." She nods over to the dead horses. "The ones who rode those."
Iroas turns back to Djan. "You are absolutely certain there was no clue to the identity of those riders when you searched the horses?" he asks again, clearly anxious about something.

Djan grunts in response to the cleric's question. "I saw nothing that interested me. You're the one who's invested in this dwarf's well-being -- look for yourself."
