Kalana, Jaeron, and Johannas (Crimson Oars Warehouse)As soon as Johannas starts casting a spell, the thieves react. They all leap to their feet, knocking the table over. The cards and coins on it spill to the ground. The half-elf keeps a tight grip on his hostage as the others prepare to attack in retaliation.

Senllip (Harbor District)After a brief stop at the mage guildhall, the pair head for the docks. Athel leads the way, and points out the Calabrian ship in the harbor. It's a massive galleon, dwarfing even the Tiaru in size. Even at this hour, the upper deck is well lit with torches as guards patrol it. Athel brings them as close as he dares, not wanting to catch the attention of the guards. The two take some cover behind a stack of crates on the docks, staying in the shadows. "That's it," Athel says, nodding toward the ship.

"Damnit, Johannas!" Kalana calls out over her shoulder as she pulls out her swords. She knows that she is the only real fighter in this group, and everyone is going to gang up on her, but she rushes forward as if she was going to attack the woman with the swords, but quickly changes directions so she can attack the genasi.

Kalana, Jaeron, and Johannas (Crimson Oars Warehouse)Jaeron starts this off, by tripping on the hem of his robe and falling face first onto the ground. Johannas finishes his spell, and moments later he takes a bolt to the shoulder from the elf woman with the crossbow. The leader, his sword in one hand and the other holding his hostage, hesitates a bit, as if unsure what just happened.
The elf woman with the swords moves toward Kalana and stabs at her with both, but she easily evades. The elf with the flail starts praying, and suddenly all sound ceases around the party.
Kalana moves past the swords elf and flail elf, avoiding attacks from both along the way, to reach the genasi. However, just before she gets into range, he suddenly levitates twenty feet into the air.
A moment later, the doors burst open and the two 'homeless' guards step in, drawing their own blades, having heard the commotion inside.

Kalana curses under her breath, and decides to attack the elf with the flail, but she is going for non lethal attack as their original plan here was to deal with things peacefully.

Kalana, Jaeron, and Johannas (Crimson Oars Warehouse)Johannas walks eastward until he can speak again, then makes his plea to the Crimson Oar leader. Meanwhile, the elf with the flail casts another spell and points at Kalana before she can attack. Kalana suddenly feels her entire body go rigid with fear. Unable to stop herself, she runs full sprint in absolute terror toward the exit, back to the alley where Harrin waits. But not before the levitating genasi hurls a couple of magic missiles at her.
The elf with the crossbow shoots Johannas again, this time striking him in the thigh. The elf with the swords turns her attention to Jaeron, seeing him as an easy target. However, the nimble gnome easily evades her blades. Jaeron then pulls out his musket and fires at the crossbow elf. The bullet punches right through her armor and hits her shoulder, causing her to cry out and stagger back from the impact.
The two 'homeless' guards then rush forward to attack Jaeron and Johannas from behind. Jaeron evades, but Johannas doesn't and he is now left pretty bloodied.
"Enough!" the half-elf demands. "Lower your weapons." His subordinates do so, but with great reluctance. "You seem a good person, friend," he tells Johannas. "But we must do what we can to survive. We were paid very handsomely to take this young woman, and if we let her go, our contract would be voided."

Kalana seems confused once she is out of the range of the fear spell. She looks around, and at the building she just rushed out of. She remembers an intense fear to escape with her life, and realizes that it must have been a spell. She knows she can't leave Johannas and Jaeron back there, so she turns back around and tries to fight the fear to go back inside.

Jaeron hesitates at first his old warrior skills coming to the fore and his clerical/historian thoughts being pushed aside reluctantly he returns his pistol to it's holster. "Yes who exactly paid you to do this to the young lady? Also if you will permit it I'd like to heal the one with the crossbow and my friend here." he indicates Johannas cleric/priestly side coming back out.

"Wow!" Senllip looks at the incredible sized ship. "Hard to miss THIS treasure." He smiles knowingly to Athel. "So, have your scouts saw any suspicious movement in the area? At first I thought ambushing Senrik here, outside the ship, but with this huge ship, maybe we need to sneak in and ambush him there." He then looks intently on board. "Do you recognize any 'Golem' creature there? I'm curious to see one!! Although maybe not one that chases me..." he says with amusement and winks.
Suddenly another question pops up in Senliip head, "Do you know if Senrik have specific hours he usually execute his thievery?"

Kalana, Jaeron, and Johannas (Crimson Oars Warehouse)In the alley outside the warehouse, Kalana tries to shake off the magical fear. "Is everything going well?" Harrin asks her. "You looked pretty spooked."
Meanwhile, back in the warehouse, the half-elf gestures to his men. "Allow the gnome to heal our friend here." Then, to the party, he says, Our employer was a member of the Octhanian Trading Guild. They want to put your friend out of business so they can buy it out at a cheaper price. They offered us a good lump of gold, and we are in no position to turn it down. As thief guilds go, we're small and new and we need to establish ourselves before another guild decides we're easy pickings." The other thieves sort of watch in a mix of horror and amazement as their leader just openly spills all of this to completely strangers.
Senllip (Harbor District)Athel nods. "So far, my scouts have reported nothing unusual. Which means either the rumor didn't reach him or he's somehow avoided being seen by them. Or maybe he hasn't arrived yet. No sign of a golem, either, but it might be below deck. Usually Senrik strikes during the night, so this is the best time to try and catch him."
(OOC: It is around 9 PM. The sun has gone down.)
