Kalana Ioane (Queen of Harts, Room 7) "I remember," Aata says. "Does this mean you haven't gone to see them yet? They are probably worried after all of these years, you know." He walks over to the small wet bar by the window. "Do you want something to drink? What would you like?" Mathias Blackcairn (Tu'Valie Bank)Mathias attempts to put the logbook in his backpack, but then remembers he does not own one--just a few belt pouches, and even the larger ones are too small to carry a book of this size. So he is forced to just tuck it under his arm and carry it around.
Knowing that his time is limited--that potion's effects will not last forever--he starts making his way to the market place. In Paradise City, and other Vaneil settlements, there are always easy to read signs that indicate where to go and where everything is found. Not so here in Tu'Valie. But after a lot of wandering, backtracking and asking around, he eventually makes his way to the market place. From there, it's easy enough to find the only Guild bank in the city.
Compared to the sprawling, grandiose banks of Vaneil, this place is rather small and unimpressive. Stepping inside, he finds a human and a half-elf standing guard on either side of the entrance, wearing heavy armor and carrying pikes and firearms. Both keep a close eye on Mathias as he approaches the sole window across from the entrance. A human woman sits on the other side of the barrier and there is a small hole at the bottom of the window so she can receive and pass items to people on the other side.
"Welcome to the Tu'Valie branch of the Octhanian Trading Guild Banking Service, how may I help you?" the woman says in a listless, monotone voice as Mathias approaches.
Jaeron Dernfog (Off the Book)"Oh, certainly," the elven woman responds. "Standard bookbinding rate is one gold piece per page, but if you want something nicer, like fine leather, it will be five gold pieces per page."

Jaeron "That sounds fair so far I only have 10 pages. How much would it be for just a blank book with say 100 pages plus the bindings for the 10 pages I currently have?"

"They aren't worried about me," Kalana says. Her tone of voice has changed drastically from the cheerful persona that she was displaying to depressive. "They are probably outcasts as they are the family of the woman that helped bring terror upon the city," she says. "No, this is better. That way if they are asked who keeps sending them money, they can honestly say they don't know." Even though it has been four years, Aata has heard these excuses before. "I'll take whatever the strongest drink there is in that thing," she adds. "But, you know, I thought about sending people I have worked with before to my family this time around. If they do happen to be worried about me like you have said, then you guys could pass along word that I'm...well I'm alive at least."

Kalana Ioane (Queen of Harts, Room 7) Aata pours her a glass of whiskey, and then brings it to her. "And that's why you've sought me out," he concludes, handing her the glass. Jaeron Dernfog (Off the Book)"To bind a book with only 10 pages, it would cost 10 gold pieces using the standard method, and 50 gold pieces if you want fine leather," the woman says. "Either way, it would probably take around two days to finish.
"I can sell you a blank book of 100 pages. How much depends on what you want the pages to be made out of. Papyrus would cost 160 gold, parchment would cost 220 gold, paper would cost 275 gold, and vellum would cost 400 gold.

Jaeron smiles and replies back "I'll go with the leather binding for the 10 pages. The blank 100 page book I'll take the Papyrus one." the gnome paces payment for the binding and the blank book on the counter and hands over the scroll tube containing his 10 pages for binding. (ooc: hopefully you don't mind my acting as if I brought the items with me from the ship rather than Role-playing running back to the ship to grab it and come back.)

Kalana gives a nod of agreement to Aata as she accepts the glass of whiskey. "And because I do miss you and the rest of the group," she adds. "So would you be willing?" she asks.

Kalana Ioane (Queen of Harts, Room 7) Aata thinks it over. "It will be a bit out of our way...but I might be able to find an excuse to head to Shadowshore. What should I tell the others? They'll expect to be compensated."
Jaeron Dernfog (Off the Book) The woman accepts the sheets of parchment and the 50 gold pieces. "Please return in two days time to pick up the book," she tells him.
She then heads into the back and returns with a blank book with 100 papyrus pages and hands it over to the gnome in exchange for 160 gold pieces. "A pleasure doing business with you."

Kalana smiles after she downs her glass of whiskey. "I didn't expect you guys to do it for free," she admits. "How much are you going to charge me? Also, I should probably at least say hi to the others too. Are they all here?" she asks.

"Transmutation is my specialty, but when it comes to scrolls or wands I'd be interested on other schools especially." Arieal answers.

Mathias retrieves his proof of deposit from his pouch, then slides the enchanted piece of paper into the hole in the window. "I'd like to make a withdrawal," he says, his gruff voice betraying just a hint of stress. "One thousand gold, please. And a satchel or chest or whatever container you might happen to have on hand, to transport it in. You may deduct the cost of the container from my remaining balance."

Kalana Ioane (Queen of Harts, Room 7) "How much coin are you asking us to transport?" Aata asks. "The others are in town at the moment, but should be back this evening. They're off spending their earnings at taverns and brothels, I would imagine." Mathias Blackcairn (Tu'Valie Bank)"Quite a withdrawal," the woman notes dryly, accepting his slip. She walks away from the window and he can hear the sound of coin being moved around. When she returns, she has a large sack that jingles loudly with coin and shoves it through the window to him. She then gives him a new banking slip, this one stating his new total of remaining funds on it (883 GP).
"Here you are," she says. "Have a nice day."
Jaeron Dernfog (Off the Book)"Ah, so that's why your outfit looks familiar," the woman says. "You're one of those Gontorites, too, huh? Yeah, that fellow is in here often enough. Well, nice to see he's making friends."
Arieal (Thundergulls Magic Guild) "Well, how about this?" Azerath asks, pulling out a long box from under the counter. He sets it on the counter and opens it, revealing a wand. "Wand of Magic Missiles, fully charged. Only 5,000 gold pieces. Always handy for any mage, if you ask me, regardless of profession."

The elf is making friends and hopefully some improvements to the church as well." with that the gnome bows and departs the shop and looks for the elf from the church.

"Since I haven't been able to send anything for a little while, I was thinking 60 gold," Kalana explains. Kalana knows that is actually quite a bit of money that will last a family awhile, but she has some money to spare. "And why am I not surprised you aren't out spending your earnings at taverns and brothels?" she asks teasingly.

Senllip goes closer to hear the local news. While walking he shows a simple "hello" gesture in the thieves signs language to the hooded elf.
