"I'm not sure it's the money, Barlemus," Nobanion says. "It sounds like his new "treasure" my be causing him to act out of character.

Dirk was impressed by the young lad. "Aye, lad - it takes courage to do what you did as well. You have the stuff of heroes yourself. Thank you. You have helped us, and we will help you. This treasure you spoke of - what is it? A ring? A necklace? A bracelet? Was there any other things Teddy did that seemed unusual for him?"

"Treasure can do that?" Barlemus asks, a bit baffled by the idea. "Ut, I had no idea." He scratches the back of his neck in confusion.

Tagon in response to Barlemus "Aye yes ain't you ever heard of magic items? It's likely a magical doodad Barlemus."

"Ohhh, magic," Barlemus responds, finally getting it. "But why would someone make a magical trinket that makes you go mad? Seems weird. I guess wizards can be kind of dumb, too, sometimes."

"Perhaps there is a curse to the item? We should be wary of touching such a thing. However, it should be confiscated and brought back to the city watch proper. Shall we inform our superiors?"

"I hope it is not the cleaver," Dirk says with a smile. He then goes and investigates the stall of Teddy and will 'frisk' him for items of interest. "Can any of you detect magic?"

"Nope," Barlemus answers. "At least, I don't think so. I guess I never tried, though..."

The boy beams up at the party. “I’m not sure. I just know he found it this morning at his table, doing his work, could be anything!” The old man steps forward to volunteer a bit of information. “He seemed to have a wicked rash or itch. Stayed tearing at his neck most of the day. Just scratched himself non stop.” Justin TymeA quick search of the unconscious (the pain of a shattered wrist, and the strain already on his mind having robbed him of his senses) chum man is all that’s necessary. A thin silver chain holding a silver and gemstone pendant hangs around his neck. The skin touching the metal seems irritated and reddened.

Dirk spies the necklace and uses a dagger to slip under the necklace and lift it off as secretly as possible so as to not upset any observers (Pick Pockets UtfhWcU_1d100).
He will take care as to not touch the medallion himself, but will show it to the elf and the cleric saying, "Looksee here, friends. Judging by the rash that was beneath this pendant, I am guessing this may be the cause of the change in our Chum here. I am more warrior than wizard, but I would bet my beer that this would change the personal outlook in how one aligns their moral compass."

As deft as his attempt was, and it was quite good. Dirk couldn’t manage to get the necklace to lift itself from the man’s skin. It was as if it was stuck fast or welded to the skin. Held in place by some unknown force.

Tagon looks at the bauble "Might need a mage's touch or maybe a cleric's to try and remove the thing by magical means. Might be cursed dunno surely it drove the fellow mad."

Barlemus just shrugs helplessly. All this talk of magic was far beyond his ken. He had no idea what to suggest.

The elf looks at the rash and sees that the medallion cannot be removed, "It is cursed. We should use the disk to contact Sergeant Luath. A dispelling or removal of the curse is needed and beyond my magics."

"Perhaps we should send the boy to bring a healer of greater skill. We still have a watch route to make. Also, I'll heal his wrist. We don't want to leave the goodman unable to work after he is released from that trinket." Nobanion looks meaningfully at his companions, remembering what they were told about companies who summon help.
