Again, Ladonna manages to smack the knight with her staff, but he is far from out of this fight yet.  He counters, but the attack is so slow and clumsy, she is able to easily sidestep it.

Ladonna manages another thwack against the knight, leaving him bloodied but still standing.  However, he retaliates in kind.  His first blow she parries, but the second one manages to hit her, cutting into her flesh and leaving her just as bloodied as him.

Ladonna again clunks the knight with her staff, leaving him quite weakened but not finished off.  Suddenly, the knight begins to move quickly again.  The enfeeblement spell wears off, and they are able to attack normally.  Ladonna manages to parry the blow, but it's clear her time is running out.

Without the enfeeblement, the Knight Errant is no longer an easy opponent.  She swings her staff, but they easily block it with their shield, then attack twice.  Her armor spell protects her from the first strike, but the second one breaks through and slices into her flesh, drawing blood.  She probably won't be able to withstand another attack like that.

This was it, and Ladonna knew it. She didn't have a spell that would help her now, as she was saving her last spell for if she won this battle. She was going to need it if she was going to face that final opponent. Though, she was pretty certain, at this point, that she wasn't going to make it that far as she swings her staff at the knight one last time.

Against all odds, Ladonna manages to strike the knight again--this time right in the head, with enough force to not only knock them down and out, but to knock the helmet off, too.  Everyone gasps at the sight of the count's son, Eowin Solan, lying on the ground.

The count himself is on his feet in an instant.  "What is the meaning of this?!" he demands.  Snapping his fingers at the healers, he commands, "Heal him at once!"  The healers, who normally are on the field in a flash, had been standing there, mouths agape.  The count's order suddenly snaps them out of it, and they move in, one reviving Eowin while the other heals up Ladonna.

"No member of the court, including members of the Solan family, is permitted to participate in the Harvest Festival contests," the count declares, sitting back down.  "Explain yourself."

Eowin gets to his feet, glaring with rage at Ladonna.  He tears his gaze away from her long enough to look to his father and say, "Father, I wanted to show you I was ready for real battle.  If I had won--"

"But you did not win," the count points out.  "Indeed, you lost to a woman with a staff and no armor."

"Father, I--!"

"Enough!" the count cuts him off with a gesture.  "Guards, escort my son to his room and detain him there.  You need some time to think about what you've done.  You've shamed yourself and your family with this deception and rule-breaking."

Lillian cringes when Eowin is revealed. This is not going to help Ladonna's reputation, she thinks.

Ladonna, despite the fact that she knew who it was, looks shocked upon actually seeing the count's son, so much in fact that her eyes widen, she drops her staff, and she covers her mouth as if she had just done something horribly wrong. She didn't know she was actually going to knock his helmet off with her staff! Though, since she wasn't the one being yelled at, she quietly walks back to Lillian to retrieve her rope. "Well, I'm going to have to do more damage control now."

The herald, also snapping out of her state of shock, returns to the ring.  "Uh, well, that was...unexpected," she says.  "Ladonna the Liar will move on to the final match, against Kohen Viondre Fuller of the Enforcers.  Whoever wins will be crowned champion of the combat contest!"

Ladonna lets out a deep breath before she heads back to the fighting area. She removes her backpack, and anything that weighs her down except for the rope and staff, and begins preparing her spell. She has one shot at this. (Casts bind)

Ladonna quickly casts her spell on the rope she's carrying.  Just as she finishes, Viondre rushes toward her with her mace.  Ladonna's mage armor deflects the blow.  "You will not win this time.  Gonto is with me!" the aasimar warns.
